One of West Africa's most prominent traditional and religious leaders flew to Niger's capital, Niamey, Wednesday to meet with the country's coup leaders.

The visit of the former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, came a day ahead of an ECOWAS regional summit Thursday in Nigeria to determine the bloc's response to Niger's junta's non-compliance with their deadline to free President Mohamed Bazoum.

Sanusi, a respected Tijanniyah Sufi spiritual leader and former Nigerian Central Bank governor, was able to meet coup leader Gen. Abdourahamane Tchiani, former head of Bazoum's presidential guard. What was discussed has not yet been disclosed.

Niger's new military junta has taken steps in recent days to entrench itself in power and has rejected international efforts to mediate, a day early blocking emissaries from the African Union, United Nations and ECOWAS from visiting Niger.

honestly reading this, it just sounds to me like he isn't cut out for community management. It is stressful and hard sometimes, so I get it, but he's going to kill his own site doing this. I did wonder about this before - it seemed like to me he regularly made changes based on feedback on a whim, and these changes were often rushed without much thinking. Needs to know when to pass the baton elsewhere and stick to development, but alas...

The last comments also speak to someone who's probably hiding some contrarian views of his own.

Shame.

It's depressing how much I see this apps data misread. I feel like DDG needs to implement some sort of disclaimer.

It is misleading for link aggregator apps - any link that you click on or preload that has trackers, will appear, hence why the numbers are so high. It's not Sync itself that's doing this, it's the content that gets posted here...

You will see something similar on any other link aggregator app.

Cambodia’s King Norodom Sihamoni on Monday issued a royal decree to appoint Hun Sen’s eldest son Hun Manet as the country’s prime minister, ensuring that the transfer of power from father to son will occur later this month.

According to the decree, Hun Manet will assume the office on Aug. 22, when the newly elected National Assembly adopts the new cabinet. It will be the completion of years of preparation for a transfer of power from father to son, as the 71-year-old Hun Sen, who has ruled the country since 1985, prepares to step aside.

Hun Sen did however say that he would continue to have a role in government for the next 10 years.

Discord is a closed garden, it's awful for things like this.

Copying an older comment of mine,

Download qBittorrent. Download Jackett. Configure Jackett to work inside qBittorrent. You now have a way to search hundreds of trackers all at once within seconds and find literally anything you want.

Honestly IMO it's a bit cringe for me that so many people are like, "fuck these Lemmy apps this [insert unreleased app] is amazing!".

Like calm down, lol. Let's see how it'll be first, a lot of the Lemmy apps are great right now.

Signed, a Reddit Boost user.

stop manually browsing torrent sites! You're wasting your time.

That's not what Reddit is anymore, maybe if this idea was proposed 10 years ago they'd consider it, but it's just not an open space anymore.

Would be cool though

personally I find the whole "duplicate" community thing a bit of a problem. New forums already struggle to maintain activity and this just compounds it by fragmenting them even further.
