Hi there,

I'm a beginner photography enthusiast who loves playing with zoom

I've been looking for a camera to start with and I found the Nikon P1100. 125x zoom, and about as far as it goes with a camera with built in zoom lens.

So with that in mind, is this a good camera? What else should I keep in mind? I know it's a little heavy because it's bulky and that's fine. I'll probably go for a number of accessories like a tripod, extra batteries and storage and whatnot, anything I might need to start with that you normally don't directly think of?

Thanks for a great community!

I will be attending the Columbus, OH pride festival and hopefully getting some great shots of the parade with the X-S10. I will be prepped with spare batteries, ample storage, and a couple different lenses. But I fear in the heat of June which can exceed 30c with nearly no shade or cloud coverage, the camera might not be so happy and potentially overheat?

The parade itself is roughly an hour to an hour and a half, though if I am being conservative I can shoot selectively and squeeze that down into 45 minutes of good solid photos.

In any case, those of you who have put this camera through its paces, how does it hold up on long shooting sessions?
