Are they there to burn it down again?

[–] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 2 days ago

One of the last times it happened, red coats burned the white house. For once I find this idea of Brits doing Brits stuff... Intriguing.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 31 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Being ruled by the UK would probably be an improvement

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 20 points 3 days ago (2 children)

They are also an Israeli vassal state so it isn't much of a change.

And yes I'm aware of andrew and the diplomat but they were publicly caught selling state secrets, the Epstein blackmail was not the issue. There is no way in hell those are the only two powerful brits Epstein and Maxwell got.

Fuck it, I'll take some NHS healthcare

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 9 points 3 days ago (2 children)

But the surveillance state is more fully formed. They're cooked too just in a blander way

Tis the British Way.

Built the biggest navy in the world...to protect the biggest company in the world...to trade with India.. And yet is known for the most bland food.

Trump really should've handled the US "trade deficits" with China the same way the British did. Would've been much more interesting.

I'm British, and south Asian curries are very popular in the UK. Probably every town has an Indian restaurant (apparently many of them are run by Bangladeshis, but they're still commonly called Indian restaurants).

Chicken tikka masala is known as a national dish in the UK. Also there is coronation chicken, a British dish made with Indian spices, which was first made for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.

The US surveillance state is definitely more fully formed. You are just not as aware of it as of the British cctv cameras.

They are also an Israeli vassal state so it isn’t much of a change.

They are not in a war with Iran right now.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 1 points 2 days ago

They've been as supportive as they need to be

Most of the first world countries would probably be an improvement at this point.

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 3 points 2 days ago

Even many non first world countries.

[–] JasonDJ@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 days ago

Yay! Socialized healthcare!!!

Boo! NHS!

[–] tigeruppercut@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Less threatening than kid rock addressing the troops

[–] Gates9@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago

That’s soon-to-be Secretary of War Rock to you

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Can they just burn it, like they did last time?

[–] massacre@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Wasn't that the Canadians? I'm no history surgeon, tho...

Canadians still under British rule, yeah.

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Canadian participation in the war of 1812 was mostly service in defensive militias. The burning of the Whitehouse was by the royal navy and I don't think they had much connection to Canada

[–] Lemmyoutofhere@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It had every connection to Canada. US school system is just more propaganda.

[–] m0darn@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

Hey I'm Canadian and am proud to say that my Nth great grandfather Godfrey served in an artillery division to defend Canada from US aggression in south western Ontario.

When you say that the Royal Navy had every connection to Canada, what do you mean? Are you arguing that the ships were primarily crewed by people that were already living in Canada when they joined the navy?

i read on the internet it was under direct command of the queen of canada. are you telling me the internet lied?

[–] Knock_Knock_Lemmy_In@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Trump would welcome that. Then he could build The Gold House in its place.

[–] icelimit@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

You mean Trump house

[–] darklamer@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago (2 children)

WTF are they on about!? There hasn't been a King of England for over 300 years, since the Acts of Union joined the Kingdom of England and Kingdom of Scotland into Great Britain in 1707.

[–] mech@feddit.org 9 points 3 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

His only title I could find specifically for England is Seigneur of the Swans.

what the hell don't make the king of england sound cool

[–] Brummbaer@pawb.social -1 points 2 days ago

Just take away their status and give them a bunch of swans to rule over.

Maybe they can do tourist shows so the royalists stop crying over the tourism value they bring.

Everyone wins.

[–] matlag@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago

Wow wow wow! Look at that radical intellectual talking history and quoting dates and shit! Are you a woke leftist by any chance??

[–] OriginEnergySux@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

[–] ShotDonkey@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Take back control.

[–] ShinkanTrain@lemmy.ml 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Someone please get a German to visit

[–] wieson@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

Most of the German states' uniforms were dark blue or dark green, kinda boring or too serious.
Most recognisable and unique would be the Hessian Hussars with their yellow pants and shirt, white fittings and a light blue jacket.

[–] Photonic@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

They’re coming for their tea

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 5 points 3 days ago

The colonies have had their fun playing at independence long enough. Time to come back!
