Reactionaries are nothing but Freudian death drive wrapped in flesh. It doesn't matter what the question is, they'll provide the answer that hurts them and everyone around them because they're too feral to exist in polite society.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 31 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Pretty much. His base is alcoholic petite-bourgeoise landlords and jetski dealership owners.

Funny given that Trump is a teetotaler.

That sucks we have that in common. I just don't drink, I wasn't trying to make a whole thing out of it.

No worries I'm just a drunk history nerd trying to justify my habit

[–] cream_provider@hexbear.net 16 points 22 hours ago

Nah this one is good old fashioned industry lobbying

You mean the reeducation camps your wife sends you to make you woke or she'll take the kids away?

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 9 points 11 hours ago

Can't believe they made me woke. Life was so much better when I had the freedom to be constantly hungover and vommiting all over the place.

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 52 points 1 day ago (1 children)

frothingfash

Starring fat doctors. A doctor with a fag hanging out of the side of his mouth while performing an abortion.

An excuse to post one of my favorite things:

https://youtu.be/bWnT7pWg6x0

Clip from the original 1950s Sci fi classic "The Day The Earth Stood Still" where 2 doctors gab about the alien life expectancy while smoking cigarettes.

My doctor said he's worried about my liver and I told him I'm worried about your face because I'm gonna punch it if you keep quacking at me while I'm drinking.

[–] XiaCobolt@hexbear.net 14 points 23 hours ago* (last edited 23 hours ago)

I personally love exactly three beers, it's enough to feel loose and buzzy for a short while, but no hangover or immediate consequences other than pissing, it's a perfect amount to drink with good food at a cosy restaurant or a friend's house for dinner.

Steve Feinberg: "Pete, is that you talking or the liquor?"

Pete Hegseth: "Steve... I am the liquor"

[–] gaja@lemm.ee 7 points 20 hours ago

My doctor told me it was 1-2 drinks a week, and definitely not more than 4 at once. It's a group 1 carcinogen and has moderate risk of causing cancer. It's not bad advice, but it doesn't play much of a role in my poor habits.

[–] krolden@lemmy.ml 16 points 1 day ago (8 children)

Isn't two drinks a day a lot?

As someone trying sobriety after basically alcoholism, it would take a lot more than 2 drinks to get me where I wanted to be

[–] Sleve_McDichael@hexbear.net 19 points 23 hours ago

Not any more screm-cool

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 11 points 23 hours ago

"two drinks" that people actually drink is obscene

"two drinks" that are the serving size on the label is probably half a shot.

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

depends on how you define a drink

  • light beers, not particularly
  • double vodkas, yes

[–] blame@hexbear.net 2 points 20 hours ago

1-2 drinks per day? drinker's nose coming back in style ig.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 2 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I've tried pretty much every drug and most enough times to at least get a feel for em. Alcohol when you ass together the health negatives and social negatives is easily.thr worst drug out there and while thars partially due to inverse stigma and ease of access its still just as if not worse for you physically than most 'hard' drugs. If opiate addicts could get a reliable dhespmamd clean fix you wouldn't even notice most of them from a sober person. Theyre usually just trying to not be sick. Upper guys are a bit of a different story but tsking booze out of their equation would really soften that blow.

[–] LeylaLove@hexbear.net 1 points 6 hours ago

Yeah, I had many hard drug addictions over the years, alcohol was easily the one that did the most damage in my life and was easily the hardest to put down. On clean opiates, I had a clean house and my life was pretty together. The worst thing about it (besides for being sick) was being constipated all the time lol. Alcohol though, I was literally 60 pounds underweight, I was physically too weak to get out of bed for days after a bad binge, it made me make more stupid decisions than any other drug (including being blacked out on Ambien) it sucked ass.

There are a few drugs that I do miss sometimes. Sometimes I wish I could be nodded out again, or be coked out playing shooters again, but there's nothing I miss about drinking. There were times to romanticize with the other addictions, but my time drinking was just pathetic and brought my self esteem to an all time low.
