This is true, I ate fried grasshoppers once and it tasted so much like shrimps I ate handfuls of them.

[–] stretch2m@infosec.pub 5 points 2 hours ago

Inside bug = goo. Inside shrimp = tasty meat These are not the same.

[–] mabeledo@lemmy.world 10 points 10 hours ago

Delicious, delicious bugs.

[–] Xuderis@lemmy.world 8 points 10 hours ago (3 children)

What’s the original context for this image?

[–] webp@mander.xyz 1 points 2 hours ago

Thank you for asking

Huh, neat. TBH I hope they don't get any more than a slap on the wrist. But knowing this country that ain't happening.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 3 points 9 hours ago

Influencers who love power.

[–] eezeebee@lemmy.ca 6 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

You're telling me a bug fried this rice?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

It wasn't Edgar. It was wearing Edgar. Like an Edgar suit.

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

The only good bug, is a dead big.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Oh, I'm sorry. Was that your auntie?

[–] Slovene85@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 hours ago

I'm doing my part!

... Oh, sorry, wrong movie.

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 13 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, but does it really matter if they're delicious?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 12 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Red Lobster had you one step closer to living in the pod. We needed to kill it.

[–] ramble81@lemmy.zip 2 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

If ground bugs were just as tasty I’d eat them too.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 2 points 9 hours ago

The main problem is that they can’t get as big on land so there’s not much meat on the exoskeleton.

[–] SpruceBringsteen@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

They are, you're just not out trying them.

[–] BarnWolf@lemmy.world 8 points 11 hours ago (3 children)
[–] GrabtharsHammer@lemmy.world 3 points 8 hours ago

They mudbugs.

What about weevils?

[–] secher@lemmy.world 4 points 11 hours ago

Same. Lots of legs, detritus feeders, and an exoskeleton? Bugs. Shrimp, lobster, crayfish, crabs; all bugs.

[–] linuxguy@piefed.ca 4 points 10 hours ago

Holy RF burns, Batman. You'll never see me touching an antenna I'm not familiar with.

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 hours ago

Been saying this for years. I don't eat bugs just because they came from the sea and are expensive.

[–] cattywampas@lemmy.world 4 points 12 hours ago

This thumbnail didn't load on my feed and for a second I thought you were the canal guy based on the title.

[–] AllNewTypeFace@leminal.space 2 points 10 hours ago

“bug” is a folksonomy that generally means anything that ought to be a bug, including insects, spiders and lobsters. It has no meaning other than vibes, so whether a shrimp is a bug depends on whether it feels like one to whoever’s making the call.

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

This suddenly became relevant again
