How can you pay to study philosophy, make enough millions you don't need to ever again lick any boot to be considered a RespectedPhilosopher^TM^ and yet choose to be a fucking idiot and a sleazebag

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 35 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think she's just always been a lib. She just seemed further left at the time when she got popular because of how dominant right wing YouTubers were

[–] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 19 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

She had genuinely good anti-capitlasit videos at one point. So it feels weird that it was just a phase for her

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

I think she's self aware and made the choice of money and self-interest. She knows exactly what the left's points are but she wanted to be mainstream and taken seriously as a figure in media rather than shunned off to the side by establishment media.

The thing is that she cut her teeth creating a left wing audience and everyone fucking hates her for that turn which causes her a lot of emotional distress and affects her motivation to do anything. So she just sorta floats and does nothing now.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Her ex, philosophy tube is meanwhile doing the grift better and has landed some minor Hollywood roles.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago (1 children)

They dated? That's fucked up.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 10 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (4 children)

Ill just post a screenshot from the reddit thread that came up when I tried to Google how I knew this.

Here's the full thread. There is a lot of bullshit in this, but I think its safe to believe they did date

She's basically in the same position as normal establishment shill pop-academics but with even less credibility or qualification.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago

I remember hearing she mostly studied Kant and then dropped out. That does follow

Rest in Piss "Breadtube," you had a lot of great things to say about bideo-games, movie, and internet drama, but not so much about genocide or imperialism. Fuck "Nebula" too (though I do enjoy FD Signifier I admit).

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

i haven't noticed any solidarity in my paypiggies, but i've seen the house i bought

  • unknown breadtuber
[–] azalea_simsii@lemmygrad.ml 9 points 2 months ago

I am sick of being an American.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I won't act like this is a "Contrapoints is finally done" thing but it's helpful to have statements from her that have no conceivable interpretation except for something so foolish that even normal liberals would laugh at it.

The US did not "fuck up" anything except in terms of military incompetence. The terrorism is the point.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

trump doesn't have a plan and obviously that's the thing we care about. John Kerry reporting for duty.

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 30 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (3 children)

What fool would have possibly thought, under any circumstances, that the US was at all in this for the Iranians? What the fuck's wrong with you if you think that an empire which has long subsisted off of the backs of others would ever care for any people anywhere? They treat their own poor like vermin, to be put down should they be an inconvenience to anyone

People take this clown seriously?

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 18 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Sooooo many Iranian diaspora believed this. I don't understand how you could trust them knowing anything about the history of your own family's country and what the US and Britain have done there multiple times.

I tried not to drag my own friends down when they were posting propaganda about freedom during the protests or right after the assassination of the Supreme leader by getting into an argument, but all I could do is shake my head to myself. This was so predictable that the US would escalate this into the destruction of the country. Aaaand now they're aiming for civilian infrastructure.

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

People take this clown seriously?

Decreasingly so these days, thankfully.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (3 children)

how the fuck did she get from making a video about how "the west" isn't a coherent thing to that take?

I thought this horrible, wannabe smartass woman quit posting on twitter. Guess Patreon grift of making one video in a decade wasn't enough?

[–] kleeon@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago

what does she think "this" is?

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago

Damn, the US used the promise of "human rights" and "liberation from a tyrannical regime" to placate liberals while committing unimaginable horror? Who could have seen that coming?

[–] 9to5@hexbear.net 24 points 2 months ago

The world of liberals must be full of stunning and amazing suprises that somehow no one could have predicted.

[–] Rom@hexbear.net 22 points 2 months ago

We could give them an award to make them feel better fell-for-it-again-award

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

She must watch nothing but NBC and CNN, right? Maybe some BBC.

[–] AlyxMS@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

CBS but only after the Bari Weiss takeover

ContraPoints but it's the Nicaraguan far-right rebel group

[–] Zuzak@hexbear.net 21 points 2 months ago

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Ah yes, another unexpected whoopsie from the always-stumbling US empire

[–] SmithrunHills@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

Breadtube did such a good job of (unintentionally) revealing the limits of western "leftist" analysis, which regularly struggles to include staunch anti-imperialism. The fact that someone like Ms. Rachel can provide so much momentum for the Pro-Palestine cause just from simply advocating for not wanting kids to get blown up, while so called "progressives" are still twiddling their thumbs and have either taken the side of liberal Zionists or continue to remain silent should be a strong indictment

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 13 points 2 months ago (3 children)

So how was her video about Saw?

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 16 points 2 months ago (6 children)

Rolling around in pseudo-intellectualism about how opposing torture is hypocritical because have you seen A Clockwork Orange and a bunch of other drivel, but it doesn't make a coherent thesis in the end and she concludes by saying "I'm just a youtuber, idk man" like a complete asshole.

When you believe in nothing:

[–] huf@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

oh come now, she believes in us-foreign-policy

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

I don't get it she can't possibly be that ignorant. Is she so desperate for the attention of people dunking on her?

[–] InexplicableLunchFiend@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

I feel bad for them in that I feel pain and anguish whenever I have to contemplate their treasons
