Breadtube did such a good job of (unintentionally) revealing the limits of western "leftist" analysis, which regularly struggles to include staunch anti-imperialism. The fact that someone like Ms. Rachel can provide so much momentum for the Pro-Palestine cause just from simply advocating for not wanting kids to get blown up, while so called "progressives" are still twiddling their thumbs and have either taken the side of liberal Zionists or continue to remain silent should be a strong indictment

I've never watched contrapoints but now that shes gone full boomer im even less interested in checking out her stuff even if the older content is decent

I my own takes were pretty cringe back then. Like what is boomer supposed to mean and how can I know if the videos are decent or nah if I never watched? So maybe she can grow like I did.

When you believe in nothing:

[–] huf@hexbear.net 3 points 5 hours ago

what does she think "this" is?

[–] GnastyGnuts@hexbear.net 46 points 14 hours ago (7 children)

Rest in Piss "Breadtube," you had a lot of great things to say about bideo-games, movie, and internet drama, but not so much about genocide or imperialism. Fuck "Nebula" too (though I do enjoy FD Signifier I admit).

It’s easy being a cultural critic. All you gotta do is scroll on timtok for 7 hours then make a 40 minute video extrapolating a random internet trend to real life society and psychoanalyze it

i haven't noticed any solidarity in my paypiggies, but i've seen the house i bought

She must watch nothing but NBC and CNN, right? Maybe some BBC.

[–] AlyxMS@hexbear.net 10 points 11 hours ago

CBS but only after the Bari Weiss takeover

[–] TheModerateTankie@hexbear.net 25 points 14 hours ago

Damn, the US used the promise of "human rights" and "liberation from a tyrannical regime" to placate liberals while committing unimaginable horror? Who could have seen that coming?

[–] SacredExcrement@hexbear.net 30 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (6 children)

What fool would have possibly thought, under any circumstances, that the US was at all in this for the Iranians? What the fuck's wrong with you if you think that an empire which has long subsisted off of the backs of others would ever care for any people anywhere? They treat their own poor like vermin, to be put down should they be an inconvenience to anyone

People take this clown seriously?

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 17 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Sooooo many Iranian diaspora believed this. I don't understand how you could trust them knowing anything about the history of your own family's country and what the US and Britain have done there multiple times.

I tried not to drag my own friends down when they were posting propaganda about freedom during the protests or right after the assassination of the Supreme leader by getting into an argument, but all I could do is shake my head to myself. This was so predictable that the US would escalate this into the destruction of the country. Aaaand now they're aiming for civilian infrastructure.

People take this clown seriously?

Decreasingly so these days, thankfully.

How can you pay to study philosophy, make enough millions you don't need to ever again lick any boot to be considered a RespectedPhilosopher^TM^ and yet choose to be a fucking idiot and a sleazebag

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 1 points 1 hour ago

How else to get the Shillery KKKlinton collab? confused-glee

[–] jack@hexbear.net 7 points 10 hours ago

Probably all the philosophy study tbh

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 17 points 13 hours ago

I remember hearing she mostly studied Kant and then dropped out. That does follow

[–] Carl@hexbear.net 32 points 15 hours ago (9 children)

I think she's just always been a lib. She just seemed further left at the time when she got popular because of how dominant right wing YouTubers were

I thought this horrible, wannabe smartass woman quit posting on twitter. Guess Patreon grift of making one video in a decade wasn't enough?

I feel bad for them in that I feel pain and anguish whenever I have to contemplate their treasons

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 12 points 13 hours ago (3 children)

So how was her video about Saw?

[–] purpleworm@hexbear.net 15 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Rolling around in pseudo-intellectualism about how opposing torture is hypocritical because have you seen A Clockwork Orange and a bunch of other drivel, but it doesn't make a coherent thesis in the end and she concludes by saying "I'm just a youtuber, idk man" like a complete asshole.

[–] ziggurter@hexbear.net 1 points 1 hour ago

So pretty much a rerun of every other video she's made, but with a different thumbnail.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 7 points 11 hours ago (4 children)

Opposing the depiction of sprite in movies and not opposing real torture right? Cause at this point i have to ask
