Why aren't we doing this? I personally haven't found the option to turn into a bat yet

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 22 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Literally the only issue with the plan

[–] Yondoza@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Ethicists were too preoccupied with whether or not they should, they didn't stop and think if they could.

[–] RiceMunk@sopuli.xyz 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Have you tried becoming a vampire?

[–] untorquer@quokk.au 4 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Think of how long it would take to count that high

“We expected that they fly around each other and they never have physical contact,” Hristov said. “We have found, shocking to us, that bats crash into each other quite often. It’s a messy situation, but generally it’s very safe and it works very well.”

This implies a ideal gas law for bats, an ideal bat law, bat liquid, bat solid, and bat plasma

[–] kunaltyagi@programming.dev 3 points 4 weeks ago

Cricket might know a thing or two about the bat law

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 13 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I have a better question - why isn’t this posted in the !bats@lemmy.world community? We would love it here. Stealing and crossposting now.

[–] RmDebArc_5@piefed.zip 5 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I simply wasn't aware of the community, I'll remember it next time

[–] ickplant@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago

It’s definitely a much smaller community than lemmyshitpost, but we love anything bat-related!

I don't recall this version of Batman but I'm all for it.

Vampire propaganda.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

It's more efficient to stack pedestrians on top of each other.

So a bus is more space efficient than pedestrians?

[–] kapulsa@feddit.org 10 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Often times, yes. Because sitting/standing requires less space than walking and that makes up for the extra space of the bus.

[–] moseschrute@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

I guess walking is like humans being in a gas state, and riding a bus is humans arranging themselves into a solid. But idk what liquid humans would be lol

If we ever run out of room for humans to walk around I think we're cooked busses or not.

You will certainly not regret having 150,000 bats.

[–] sundray@lemmus.org 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

The nice part about riding the bus is you can kick back, relax, and smoke a ton of weed while you travel.

[–] Hossenfeffer@feddit.uk 9 points 4 weeks ago

Just like the driver!

[–] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah, fuck busses. Bats are way more eco friendly.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 weeks ago

In the US, only 33 cars for 50 people is optimistic

[–] dumbass@piefed.social 5 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Imagine the amount of mosquitoes you could fit.

The 50 pedestrians vs 50 people in a bus is messing with my brain.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 4 points 4 weeks ago (2 children)

Yeah they must really be crammed in there.

[–] brown567@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 weeks ago

Double decker?

50 pedestrians the way they prefer it. A bus with 50 people on board, where everyone is in each other's personal space.

And now the traffic report:

"I'm over Ventura Blvd., and all the vampires walking in the Valley are heading west."

[–] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 4 weeks ago

Where do I invest?

[–] TheTechnician27@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

What if, to save space over cars but keep the personal comfort, everyone had their own hiding place with entrance hidden by brick and rubble?

[–] human@slrpnk.net 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

People could lay vertically in their hiding pods stacked on each other and we could put wheels on the bottom like those big baking sheet racks in commercial kitchens. But then we would need someone to push them...cue the bats!

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

really? only 150 bats? are these fruit bats or fat american vampire bats. i would like to speak to mathematic's manager please.

[–] myotheraccount@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) (1 children)

That's 150 thousand bats (i am not the mathematics manager though - she was probably hit by that bus)

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

are these american thousands or are these weird european thousands with extra zeroes like their weird millions and billions tho. they have been getting sneaky beaky with their numbers, the way they count things all discrete like.

SNEAKY.

BEAKY.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago)

Also, replace pedestrians with buses

Or... get pedestrians way closer together... way... way closer... 😏

[–] JayDee@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Those humans are quite large.

[–] Omegamanthethird@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

Much larger than bats.

How many wolves to bats?

[–] Digit@lemmy.wtf 1 points 4 weeks ago

Do they all want to go to the same place?

And, cannot the bats fly? Surely there could be far many more.

Speaking of flying, lets just have spaceships for everybody.
