A combat-unit commander told non-commissioned officers at a briefing Monday that the Iran war is part of God’s plan and that Pres. Donald Trump was “anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth,” according to a complaint by a non-commissioned officer.

From Saturday morning through Monday night, more than 110 similar complaints about commanders in every branch of the military had been logged by the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF).

The complaints came from more than 40 different units spread across at least 30 military installations

Liberals believe this war is to combat religious extremism.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 13 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

well, iran is doing their part to combat religious extremism, so in a way...

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 6 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I think it's inadvisable to fall for the framing as a religious conflict. Iran is resisting imperial aggression.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 11 points 2 hours ago

iran is resisting imperial aggression by what are clearly religious fanatics. but yeah.

It's called the rapture because the US will be gone hopefully

Lunatic apocalyptic evangelicalism in the military imposed from the top down, I think Hegseth likely has something to do with this. I don't think it's a very effective choice to motivate the troops though when only a fraction of them would subscribe to that kind of bullshit. "We're going to end the world for Donald Trump and White Jesus" might give some second thoughts

nah I'd wager most of them will follow their orders like good little brainwashed baby killers.

to light the signal fire in Iran

How many nuclear weapon detonations is that?

[–] Johnny_Arson@hexbear.net 5 points 2 hours ago

But it's nuclear fire on the horizon.

Evangelical Protestantism has got to be the worst sect of the worst branch of the worst religion (Christianity).

It's so surprising that the religion founded by an eccentric apocalypse cult preacher whose original followers literally believed the world was going to end within their own lifetime now today has deranged followers who are obsessed with the apocalypse. It has been an apocalyptic death cult since its very founding.

Granted in its original iteration it was the ancient Roman version of Posadism, now thru the lens of capitalism its morphed into a Chaos religion right out of 40K

These calls have one damn thing in freaking common; our MRFF clients [service members who seek MRFF aid] report the unrestricted euphoria of their commanders and command chains as to how this new “biblically-sanctioned” war is clearly the undeniable sign of the expeditious approach of the fundamentalist Christian “End Times" as vividly described in the New Testament Book of Revelation.

Many of their commanders are especially delighted with how graphic this battle will be zeroing in on how bloody all of this must become in order to fulfill and be in 100% accordance with fundamentalist Christian end of the world eschatology.

Elsewhere in this thread I called modern Christianity a chaos religion right out of 40K, but I didn't expect to be proven right almost immediately

This shit is literally Khrone worship

[–] JustSo@hexbear.net 1 points 1 hour ago

Crone worship is part of a well balanced lunar deit.

Satan continues to be the good guy in Christianity, or at the very least the lesser of two evils

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 6 points 55 minutes ago* (last edited 40 minutes ago)

What exactly are Satan's crimes in the Bible? He tries to be God's equal and take over his place? It's really hard to condemn him for that, given all the actual massacres and crimes that God commits in the Bible.

It really shows how Christianity is an ideology created (or at least deliberately spread) by the powerful, to keep people docile and never question authority.

PS: We can even trace the creation of Hell back to Plato, for the explicit purpose of influencing society through myths

[–] Mindfury@hexbear.net 16 points 7 hours ago

oh good lord they're fucking going for it

it's over
