Donald Trump was seen with a noticeable layer of makeup on his right hand on Friday as he left the White House, amid ongoing speculation about his health. The 79-year-old is believed to have used makeup to hide bruising on his hand on several occasions since returning to office, but the application appeared particularly thick during his visit to The People's House museum.

Fears is a funny way to describe it.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 85 points 1 month ago

i fear it isn't serious

[–] IrateAnteater@sh.itjust.works 53 points 1 month ago (7 children)

I do kinda fear JD Vance being president. It's mostly a "devil you know" kinda fear. There's the off chance that he's just the same same as Trump, but younger and, in the worst case scenario, more competent.

[–] Octavio@lemmy.world 58 points 1 month ago (5 children)

I could be wrong, but I don’t see Vance holding vast swaths of the American public in the palm of his hands the way trump does. I don’t get it, because I find everything about Trump utterly repulsive, but he does seem to have an almost preternatural sway over his followers. I can’t imagine factions of the right having the same fear of going against Vance that they do for Trump. I think there would be more opportunity to build coalitions against the march towards fascism with Vance in the top job. But maybe I’m just a dreamer.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yeah pretty much my take.

Trump has 3 relevant characteristics, he has evil intentions, he's incompetent, he's popular.

Vance has evil intentions, he's less incompetent, but he's less popular.

[–] Mirran@lemmynsfw.com 8 points 1 month ago

I really feel this is why they've been pushing EOs and other methods to increase the power the executive has. Even if Vance comes into power and has the charisma of a used napkin, he can just silence dissent anyway.

Vance is pretty unpopular even with the Nazi base. Without the Führer, the whole movement will fizzle out.

Cults of personality tend not to last once the personality dies.

Do people outside the UK know just how bad The Express is? It's a bottom-tier reactionary tabloid. Don't give them clicks.

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 36 points 1 month ago

Never heard of it, but thanks for the heads up

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago

The Express is what the Daily Mail secretly wants to be, were it not hindered by its own middle-class aspirations.

Again, I don’t think “fears” is the correct noun here.

I wouldn't say 'fears' exactly

[–] bigfondue@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm not sure that Trump dying would improve things. We then end up with President Vance, who is a Thiel creation and Yarvin fan. Possibly less corrupt, but definitely more competent and disciplined. Trump's main motivator is ego and impulse, but Vance actually believes in the TechFash goals.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 13 points 1 month ago (2 children)

If Vance gets to be President, it'll be two weeks before an intern finds him sobbing in the closet.

Fascism doesn't survive its leader. The underlings fight for the power vacuum, and none of them end up winning.

Some people have accused me of being optimistic for saying this, but think about who does win in this situation. It would likely be a form of liberalism that's closer to western Europe in the social safety net aspect, but capitalism would be maintained. I can't deny that it's better than what we've had, but it's not the victory I would have hoped for given the amount of suffering to get there.

There's such a simple, logical, reasonable explanation for a bruise like this: he had blood drawn recently and the phlebotomist had to draw from a vein on top of the hand. If TFG had any sense of humor he could joke about it. If he had any sense of relatability he would know that this happens all the time. But instead...he'd rather do this. Because he's fuckin weird.

That's looks more like a skin graft than makeup. You would think they could get close to matching the color of the rest of his hand but this administration can't even do that right.

[–] Reyali@lemmy.world 11 points 1 month ago

It looks to me like he has a lot of blood pooling in his hands here, so it’s possible that in the morning, at rest with his arm on a table this did reasonably match his skin.

I say this as someone with a condition that causes blood to pool in my hands, so I know how extreme the color swings can be!

[–] jordanlund@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

The time I had a skin graft, they took a portion of donor skin from my upper thigh. So, same skin, but different levels of sun exposure.

For a long time I had this weird rectangle on my leg that looked like a movie theater screen.

[–] loie@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Perhaps some aide's concealer she had on her in the moment.

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

To be fair, no makeup department stocks his unique shade of orange. You gotta go to Lowe's and get a custom mix for that.

Health fears?

Who fears for his health?

The fears are that he remains healthy enough to continue to do more damage.

[–] snausagesinablanket@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago

All the McDoubles are leaking grease.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 12 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The only way health fears and Taco should be in the same sentence is the fear related to health when it comes to conservative policies like: cutting Medicaid, cutting medical research, increased pollution, etc...I don't have any fear at all when it comes to Taco's personal health issues.

Fear? Not from me. I hope whatever it is kills him. I also hope it hurts the whole time he is dying. If he had his skin sliced and peeled off in strips until he bled to death it would be too good for him.

What’s left of his brain is desperate for a Nobel peace prize, calling fox and friends to tell them he’s worried he won’t get to heaven. I would guess he feels he’s getting near the end

There's not a god, because he's lived this long. But I pray to god he dies soon, ideally while I'm typing this.
