Of course if it isn't a war, then assassinating their head of state was super illegal.

Trump had their head of state assassinated, barely a month after illegally kidnapping Venezuela's head of state. He's the one choosing to set these new norms.

Tattoos look good for the first few months, or in other words about 1% of their lifespan

To paraphrase Munnery: it's the vanity of women to spend all their time and money on their appearance, and the vanity of men not to bother.

What does my head in is the way so many casual clothes like t-shirts are pointlessly gendered. There's way more variance between one individual person and the next, versus the difference between men and womens' bodies as an overall group. There's plenty of top-heavy guys just as there's plenty of justice-chested ladies, so why not just market casual clothes based on what shape they are rather than what gender you should conform to in order to wear it, and let the customer decide whether a given design is too girly or manly for them.

Sports shoes are the worst offenders, because stylistically these days 98% of them look absolutely identical but are split by gender anyway for no fucking reason.

For a while I was hiring people in a nearby country, and despite advertising it as daytime office hours only, the majority of applicants would ask if they could work nights instead because they already had a job during the day that wouldn't give them overtime.

I deal with less-obscure languages a bit, and switching between languages is surprisingly common. I think it's due to how token embedding works; as soon as it finds a character in another language where the semantic distance is lower than the language-barrier distance it'll just flip over.

In principle it shouldn't be that hard for model creators to fix, but I don't have the kind of compute resources needed to do it myself. :/

The company run by sex predators is doing other unsavoury shit, you say?

Check their post history, they've got form with spreading racist shit all over Lemmy, not just about Islam. It's just a deeply unpleasant person spreading hate. Don't engage: just report, block and move on.

I don't know how old "abc" is, but it's particularly painful for those of us who remember $100 going from getting us a 32Kb RAM pack, to 1Mb, to 64Mb, to 256Mb, to 1Gb, to 16Gb, and then just fucking stop for ten years, and now going back to no longer being able to even get us 16Gb any more. It's like stuff stopped getting better a decade ago, and everything is being made worse by the greed of rich arseholes

Used to mean "this is fake", now it means "an actual human was involved in the creation of this, please enjoy"

Also Millenials’ and Gen Alpha’s. Once again Gen X doing all the heavy cultural lifting.

(Edit: go on then, you name a 20yo skateboarder that most people outside the sport have heard of)

(Second edit: yeesh, I retract my statement! It was a post about a skateboarder having a long career, not a calculated attack on everyone under 45, put the pitchforks away already)

As the party fielded more and more candidates who championed economic-right policies in order to attract corporate donations, the idea of "purity testing" was turned into a stock phrase to attack critics using labels, instead of justifying it on its own terms.

Phrases like "moral purity" now serve two functions: firstly, to dismiss criticisms from the Left wholesale without having to discuss them directly, and secondly, to blame them for the rise of fascism.

In theory it was also supposed to serve a third function of bullying the Left into voting Democrat, but that didn't work.
