Putting your shopping cart up on the curb/grass at Costco.
Look. I know about the shopping cart return litmus test for humanity. And in my experience, at the average supermarket or shopping center or whatever, it's usually not too bad. There are a couple of shit stains out there that leave their cart in a parking spot or anywhere else not returned.
But Costco? What the fuck is going on there? It's like the wild-fucking-west. It's lawless. I have seen people add to trains of carts stacked together in a parking spot. The curbs just have dozens of carts pushed up on them. It's like some kind of broken window theory parking lot where normally decent people see the state of it and go "No order exists here, and I will treat it as such"
Return your fucking cart. It takes like 40 seconds max.
uploading images in ".jpg to .png" websites. If you upload ANY image they can keep it downloaded forever. Now imagine the amount of photos of Passports and IDs
Specieism. Although, living a fully antispecieist life is only possible since a short time (being vegan was not possible before). But it is not normal now that it is possible for animals well-being first, for fighting starvation and for the planet.
The objectification of women
constant surveillance. Where we are, where we are going, who we are with, how we feel, everything we say, what we are looking at. Just constant needling to answer those questions by multiple groups at every chance they can for myself and everyone i know.
Like it skeeves me out for myself, buy for the kids in my life i am more enraged about it. Like leave them the hell alone. I dont trust the goverment or corperations trying it or that they wont let other creeps get ahold of that info either.
I’ll just leave this here.
parasocial behaviour of "public people" influencers, celebrities(especially if that person is a shithead and you still try to defend him like you are thier family) they dont know you. falls in two camps, aggressively moniter online spaces of said celebritiy, especially if they are an influencer on thier channel(attacking anyone that challenges them) and the more extreme ones( the ones that issue death threats to percieved competition).
Hpotter fans, swifties, PEWPEWdie is probably the most recent cringe, why suddenly defend him when he appeared after years of escaping critcism.
Drinking and gambling.
The normality of being advertised to. It's kind of extreme how okay we are with someone hijacking our time like that. For free. As long as it's a corporation holding our activities hostage and not like a human being in the room with us.
And to add to this: building secret profiles of people’s online activities and trading them around and selling them to the government without a warrant
Like we should be jailing everyone in big tech, all data brokers, and most of the government.
Banning advertising would be such an improvement. The only way to make a difference would be just to make a good product.
And the savings would go to the general population, instead of the one that buys the loudest voice
Fascism????
Not being able to relieve basic human needs at school without getting permission first (using the bathroom, eating, some of my teachers even had temper tantrums about drinking water during class).
fun story time.
I had a 4th grade teacher that was a royal bitch and refused to let me go to the bathroom.
My grandpa gave me a solution to my problem.
I asked her to go to the bathroom. she, of course, said no. So I got up and walked over to the corner where the bookbags were piled up because it was the most private area. I unzipped my fly and started to fish out my dick. I'll never forget it. She screams, "GreenKnight23! Don't do that in here! Just go to the bathroom!"
and that was the last time that trifling bitch told me "no" when I asked to go to the bathroom.
side-note: I may seem harsh on calling her a bitch, but the school I went to was a "southern school" where the teachers were power tripping underpaid pieces of shit.
it wasn't unusual to hear the slaps and screams coming from the special ed "closet" where they packed in 5-7 autistic kids and berated them for being too stupid to do anything.
The expectation to always be available and reachable. Since the inception of mobile phones, you have to be reachable at all times and people get mad you didn't pick up.
It's breaking people. Sometimes I message some people and they don't respond for a couple of hours, and when they do they apologize and explain. If this keeps happening I'll ask them if they had/have an insecure partner or toxic workplace. Then I plant this seed "buddy, an email or a text or a call is not an automatic consent to dialogue. Get back to me whenever, I don't care. Consent applies to communication." I don't have any patience for other people's insecurity if I don't or can't respond, and we need to give that boundary to others. Ghosting is setting a boundary. Fuck it if some baby feels ignored. That's their problem!
I especially hate this at work. I work with guys from the UK, about 5 hours ahead of me. Since we don’t interact half a day, I need to leave an update so they know where things are in their morning. However they keep thinking they need to respond.
If I’m leaving you a text at the end of my day, 10pm your time, I’m expecting you to act on it in the morning, dammit, and you’ll have half a day before I even notice. I’m not trying to take away your family time
Bringing dogs into places where dogs don’t belong. No your energetic little puppy is not a trained service animal. Even more annoying when they walk right past signs that say no animals. Obviously the rules don’t apply to their little ball of fur.
That and people using their car’s hazard lights as an “I can park here”
I had a person park in front of my driveway, throw on hazards and disappear for an hour and their battery ended up dying. She ended up walking up to the door and asking for a jump. I declined help and somewhat politely informed her not to park in front of driveways.
Few month later it turns out my neighbor was cheating with this woman.
spicy story
fake service animal vest, cant believe people actually think a small dog can be a service animal, especially a mutt and you cant confront them. theres a reason they use working line dogs. notice some ratchety people who are going to shoplift in stores will bring a dog that intimidates people like pitbulls or dobermans they are asking for trouble.
Those are the "park anywhere lights".
Automobile dependency
My answer again, Fast Fashion and putting a lot of money into completely useless (plastic, mass produced) junk. General unconscious consumerism.
Similar question was asked pretty recently.
Reposting my earlier comment because lazy and don't wanna rewrite:
Fast fashion.
Unconscious consumption in general. People are pouring crazy amounts of money into plastic garbage, “collectibles”, general useless and unnecessary junk, lifestyle products etc. Then they defend it with a flippant “lol intrusive thoughts won UwU”. I wouldn’t even mind so much if it wasn’t too often the case that these same people also complain about environmental issues and capitalism.
“but but i’m a magpie, I’m a loot goblin” is just normalizing the behavior, trying to make it cute. It’s not. You’re very directly contributing to the increasing waste problem in the world and giving money to megacorps (think plastic production in particular). If you absolutely must do this, find products made of natural materials, produced by real people. Yes, it’ll cost more. Yes, that’s the real price of your obsession.
Company's selling your data.
Everyone does it, and there is basically pages of information about you that every company see.
Conventional wisdom used to be "if the service is free, you are the product", but now even companies that charge fees are selling your data on the side. Double dipping like that should be illegal.
Rape. (BTW, where are those files?) Wars. News for "one week" and then... they get "normalised" Discrimination of any sort. Live and let live!
My ex drugged and raped me and I've had people straight up tell me "well maybe you should have put out"
Like what the fuck is wrong with people. God forbid a woman have boundaries. I wasn't ready for sex and my ex didn't give a damn. Looking back, he was hella abusive and just had me charmed.
The whole thing was so traumatic that I repressed the memories for five years as a survival mechanism. Apparently some people think that I wouldn't have CPTSD if I'd just push my own boundaries aside and let the dude fuck me. I was already doing that for the guy, but sex was a boundary I couldn't push aside at that time..
large scale lying
Modifying your car to be louder.
Tangentially, manosphere culture and acting like an asshole to people to secure your status in the manosphere
Filming strangers and posting them online
I have too many complaints to list here and I'm sure others will take care of the most important ones. So I'll just say the most recent one I've gotten annoyed with:
The whole internet debate culture. Every fucking thing is now a debate. One of the reasons I finally deleted my reddit account. I literally answered someone's question and provided a bit of extra information in a neutral to positive tone. And the guy replied with "are you fucking dense" and started to argue with me. To give you an idea how fucking stupid and silly it was, it was a thread about "which invention had the biggest impact on the world" and the guy commented "why has no one answered 'electricity' is beyond me?!" and I answered "possibly because electricity is not a invention, it just is" and then noted how people have answered inventions that harness electricity. And for that I got abuse and arguing.
That's not a one time thing. Go to any reddit thread and I bet 80% of the first child comments are arguing with the original comment. Even if there's nothing to argue about. Same goes for youtube comments, "hey I liked the way you took that exhaust manifold off" is met with "yeah but thats the wrong way no one should do that or the car will literally explode!" and then the rest of the comment chain is just arguing and mockery.
I do understand that people have always argued. But it was never this bad. I've been chronically online since 1999 and while I have had frustrations here and there, its never been daily, until the last 5-ish years.
Personally I blame the tiktok/youtube debating streamers. Everyone thinks they are a Planet Peterson now.
Anyway, start arguing with me below:
I disagree, I think you’ll find that your reality is incorrect and furthermore the experience I have is superior. Frankly the fact you are unaware of this is shocking and shame should be inflicted on you. Any attention you now receive should be negative and shaped by my world view instead. The nuance of what you are articulating is useless due to this incredible gap you are exposing in your comprehensive understanding of what the world is actually like and you should feel bad for not clarifying any of this for me in your comment. You really do need to reflect more on what value you are adding here because this contribution is not only false it is embarrassing. You really ought to research things before making baseless claims. How dare you share an opinion that challenges my identity and sense of self. This is not something that you can get away without knowing how bad you fucked up and it is my duty to make you aware. Consider yourself notified, and I expect your full retraction and admittance in return. I will be waiting FURIOUSLY until a response is delivered post haste.

OP your first paragraph is describing acquaintances. You never had those before whatever insta-google-tweet-face thing you are talking about?
Believing anyone who isn't exactly like you is your enemy.
I miss hanging out with people of various faiths, politics, and hobbies, without them hating each other for their differences.
It's so bad now that people go after me for my hobbies not being their hobbies.
Invading a country in the middle east over fears of "WMD".
In america, serial killers and school shootings. In Canada, geese not migrating.
Attention economy.
Apoliticism. It's not a political philosophy I can ever agree with.
