I disagree becauseBlue Eye Samurai isn't realistic, it's authentic. Recall the thousands of arrows falling on Mizu during the ambush. The fucking sword bounce. The absurd technology and traps in Elijah's house.

This isn't a realistic depiction of feudal Japan, this is an authentic depiction of feudal Japan. It's a show about how this period felt to live in. And people in feudal Japan believed in onryo. Mizu is an onryo. As their quest for vengeance progresses and they suffer more punishment, they become more and more obviously supernatural.

Critics say document outlining strategy is both ‘completely Trumpian’ and an ‘alarming’ escalation in rhetoric

The government was taking black children away from their parents and putting them on missions to be raised by nuns until the 1970s. Many weren't citizens until the 1967 referendum on Aboriginal rights. They weren't counted as part of the population in the national census, and weren't required to vote.

It's very similar to how America treated its Indigenous people, except the Turtle Islanders had treaties. As far as I know, we didn't have any treaties with Aboriginal people here until the late 20th century. We still don't in many places.

I think the biggest reason for that is that the Turtle Islanders built a lot more permanent structures that were obviously humanmade. That's not the case in most of Australia. Aboriginal people made their mark on the landscape by using cold fire to terraform the natural environment into an ideal habitat for food species. It was a form of agriculture fully integrated into the natural environment, and thus invisible to early white people. A lot of colonisers had no idea that the land they were stealing was inhabited, until the locals showed up months later asking what these foreigners were doing in their homes.

White people had no fucking clue how to even perceive the advanced structures the First Australians built, so they viewed the people as akin to animals and barely bothered to treat with them.

I can turn My tinnitus on or off at will if I focus for a minute, because I'm a wizard. Your reality is in your mind. Master your mind, and you become master of reality.

I hear cats like eating food and pooping, which is something humans also do

Every computer on the internet has a number that says how to contact it, like a phone number. DNS is a service that turns text web addresses into those numbers and back again. So when you type in soulism.net, DNS tells your computer what the number for that website is and sends you there.

Hey, people can be dull too!

People these days will post anything and call it an autism meme. The other day I saw a meme about having a meltdown in public because the lights in a restaurant are too bright with a #autism tag, and no, that's something everyone goes through. Every neurotypical does that and has to be calmed down by their partner reminding them to think about models of diesel locomotive. I know because I have autism, which makes me an expert on what's normal to experience

The white people call that "dessert"

Yeah, plenty of people like fat people. And plenty of people choose to be or to become fat.

I was gonna say you're not fatphobic, since you don't talk about this stuff unprompted. But when prompted, you started assuming everyone feels the same way as you and dismissing the diversity of different people's preferences in a way I don't like. I think you should be more open minded. Not everyone is the same as you.

I'd like to subscribe to Heathcliff, but the RSS feed I found said they got cease and desisted by Go Comics, which doesn't offer their own RSS as far as I can tell. I just want to read the funny orange cat comics.

Today I learned that Harland Sanders was never a military colonel. He never actually served in the military. Instead, Kentucky Governer Ruby Laffoon gave Harland Sanders the title of "Kentucky Colonel" in order to boost his political support. The whole "Colonel Sanders" branding is a sham designed to promote the state of Kentucky.

Yesterday I was on a voice call with some TRON players, and a new player had a problem with their game failing to download some of the multiplayer maps. So we were helping this new guy download his maps from the website manually, and someone in the voice chat said "Just use curl to download them, it's easier than using the gui".

Now for those who don't know, curl is the command line interface command to access a website. So this person is saying it's easier to browse the internet in a bash client, typing in all your commands, than to use firefox to surf the internet.

Linux users, man! I have so much respect for the older people who are so used to using CLIs
