In a functioning democratic society the people are in control because the representatives speak and make laws based on their constituents and any protest to that should sway them. Sounds like you are talking about an authoritarian government.

It’s supposed to be a system of feedback ♻️ where people decide on rules, the people in power make those rules law, and the law enforcement enforces it. When the laws are made without the people or ignored that’s when law enforcement is working against the people.

That’s what protests are for. Disrupt the daily grind to communicate and bring awareness to people in power to make changes. Only issue here is the people not in power are the ones that need to make the changes because everything is going to plan for those in power currently.

My block list and filters are constantly being tested and updated. The shear volume of horror leads to things leaking through into my feed unfortunately but it’s usually surrounded by sanity and real human connection.

I replaced a dell xps13 with a battery from ifixit two years ago and it gave it a new lease on life. Battery went from 20mins at best, to hrs of use in a day which is amazing and it’s still going strong. So yeah, replace it and reclaim your hardware and don’t give into this disposable, planned obsolescence world.

The only way to estimate work is to make up a number and then log everything that prevents that from happening to put forward a case when the “why?” question comes up when the deadline hits. Then prepare for being told you are making up excuses and being negative and not flexible to all the challenges that you just listed and that you need to manage time better and potentially think about outsourcing some work to people who lie better than you.

Where do certain foreign dignitaries fall if they are entering the country in these new laws if they are blatantly spreading hate? Are they also to be deported?

Does anyone actually find video games boring and a waste of time? And by extension gamification of anything is not a motivating drive? Every ADHD advice usually centres around some form of gamified strategy but to me this is flawed. How do you manage dopamine without it being gamified?

It’s very rare that I can find myself engaging with any video games these days and it’s usually down to a few reasons:

  • The gameplay is something that I recognise the mechanics of and feel like I’m playing something I’ve already played and once I recognise it there’s little reason to continue. Completion or challenge of the game is not a motivating factor to stick with it.

  • I have so many things that I need to be doing that I can’t even do and anything not on the list and video gaming is a waste of that time that could be going to literally anything else.

  • Narratives in games are… not that interesting. I usually find the balance between interactivity and story always off and any gameplay is either boring or the narrative is boring so one is always cancelling the other out, so “engaging” with a story is cumbersome and at that point I may as well watch a passive form of media.

  • Online multiplayer is rarely fun as I have little time to invest in being any good at a game to the level I can enjoy it. Usually the enjoyment comes from making other people’s lives miserable by beating them.

Oh and forget about achievements, they are just a bunch of todo items that I can’t process at all as they are either micro indicators of progress in the game and useless eg. You do literally nothing aside from play the game as intended and you get some achievement. Or it’s some ridiculous set of tasks that I get task paralysis by which in the end there’s zero reward for accomplishing so why bother.

Instead of.. you know, just going outside for 5mins.

I continued sanding some dining room chairs for painting, that I started last year December 2023, in preparation for a nye party. Today I continued this project and have 3 chairs left.

Listen up, you Lemmy champions:

You're special, you're enlightened, you're a bunch of kind hearted, humble champions.

Enjoy your day.
