Mr. President, check this out! We can save a bunch of money and effort by just copying George W. Bush's homework and changing all the 'Qs' to 'Ns'

mission-accomplished

Better yet, get Claude to do it

On one hand, back before the invasion in Iraq, the US and its allies had deployed more than half a million troops in the region, and that isn't even counting the masses of contractors for supply, logistics etc. and almost definitely doesn't include the mercenaries the coalition sent there, either. It was a massive operation that the US had basically been preparing ever since 9/11 which was one and a half years before the invasion itself began.

And Iraq is smaller, less populous, geographically more accessible and has a weaker millitary than Iran.

On the other hand, if you point any of this out to Trump, odds are 90% he'll just fire you.

But you forget, they have something they didn't have in 2003: They can ask the AI to plan their invasion for them now, they just ask it for a plan that will give a 100% chance of victory with their current troops and then they'll win!

One minute it’s ‘we don’t care if Iran becomes Syria’ and the next minute it’s ‘MIGA’.

I fucking hate this clown, I’m done not indulging in hating him, people really have been treating him with kid gloves

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 30 points 20 hours ago

He's a cretinous little fuck and it's a goddamn shame that kid only grazed him

There's four factions I can identify: the doomsday cult, who believe this is for the war of Armageddon; the nihilists, who don't really care about anything as long as their enemies suffer; the dying elders, who don't care what happens after they die; and the careerists, who are thinking longer term about their political future.

So, three factions in favor of political suicide, one faction against it. Seems bad.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 22 points 20 hours ago

the marketplace of ideas, folks!

[–] Blakey@hexbear.net 14 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

I mean liberal politicians wanting political suicide is a good thing, it's the military murder-suicide pact they've landed on that's worrying.

[–] huf@hexbear.net 12 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

unfortunately, fascism is when the death cult finally turns into a murder-suicide cult and tries to take everyone down with them... well ok, but overt, terminal fascism really is this.

holden-bloodfeast holden bloodfeast getting his wish

[–] electric_nan@lemmy.ml 5 points 15 hours ago

It's almost as if he believes this shit.

[–] coolusername@hexbear.net 21 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago) (1 children)

I think it's more likely the US and Israel "surrender" with some face-saving excuse while claiming to win just like during the 12-day war

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 8 points 17 hours ago

Them surrendering won't stop Iran's decentralized military from continuing.

[–] ashestoashes@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 21 hours ago (1 children)

'MIGA' is the worst thing I've heard all week, for at least 3 reasons

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 19 points 20 hours ago

Miga in Spanish are those little bread crumbles that fall when eating it.

[–] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 21 points 21 hours ago

"Everything is going just fine, exactly how I want, and will even become better than ever soon. Thank you for your attention in this matter."

a very convincing post genre, to be sure.
