maybe-later-kiddo Hey you can have better policies later kiddo, but if you don't vote for the genocide and ICE Zionazi you might get the more uncivilized genocide and ICE Zionazi. Stop being purity ponies and vote or else...

The entire point of "lesser evil", the worse the Republicans get, the more free Democrats are to not offer anything and embrace "bipartisanism".

I forgot who she was so I checked Wikipedia. I laughed when I saw this...

In 2025, Cummings participated in Saudi Arabia's Riyadh Comedy Festival, an event which Human Rights Watch characterized as an attempt by the Saudi government to whitewash its human rights abuses. In contrast with comedian Atsuko Okatsuka, who spurned the strict censorship rules, Cummings was one of three women to accept an offer to participate in the festival.

Our reality is like a movie where the cast of characters who are horrible people is too big by a factor of ten.

That Saudi money did not last long.

Isn't this the comic who got mad at Ms Rachel for saying you shouldn't block medical aid to children?

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

youre-laughing A comedian is so destitute she fashions her suit and tie from a diner tablecloth and you’re laughing?

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

Her outfit is funnier than she is. I particularly like that the necktie is a spawn of the tablecloth.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Same thing happened in '24.

Dems strategy is now to continue run inconceivable unpopular neoliberal ghouls who poll lower than gonorrhea but start blaming anybody left of Hillary like a year before any voting happens.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 day ago

And never stop blaming everyone else after the loss

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 39 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Where's that meme where it's like

Vote Democrat: A Better World Is Not Possible

and there's a silhouette image of a child being ravaged by dogs

Thank you very much

Hey the opposition is executing people in broad daylight but don't get too excited, we're going to do that too. However you should vote for us because we're going to make sure to fill out the correct forms for public executions and we'll give the ICE agent that shoots your cousin a free subscription to betterhelp

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

It's gonna be really funny to see blue anon try to scold people for complaining when the dem candidate announces their plan to reform ICE is to pay them more.

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 26 points 1 day ago

Lower my expectations? Fair enough, that's probably true

Lower my demands? Never

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago

these rich pig pieces of of shit always find a way to blame the victim. whether its when their war criminal wholesome grandpa funds israel’s genocide or its trump sending brownshirts after people it always ends up being the least powerful group’s doing

these liberals refuse to hold their party accountable. they just want to yell at powerless people. there is not a thing in the world that will make me vote for a democrat because the reality they offer is only marginally better than the “alternative” that the GOP offers and even then they only offer a temporary buffer since they dont criminalize any of these fascists or rich pricks. biden is the perfect fuckin example. old ass dude gets in, does nothing to prevent what we’re seeing now. actively aids in this reality. raises ICE’s budget. doesnt arrest any of these pedophiles and fascists. so what argument is there to be made here? biden was the president and look what it got us. it got us here. liberals have no leg to stand on and they just want to lash out

HOW LOW CAN YOU GO . HOW LOW CAN YOU GO

Oh, you're not going to do better policies? What are you proposing instead? Nothing fundamentally changes? But you want votes because the fundamentals are bad? Isn't there a chance that people are unhappy under you and then the bad people get back in power and make it worse? Wouldn't that just be ratcheting up the bad, souring people to you, and concentrating the badness because the base will either desire worse policies, die, or flee? Couldn't you just inspire non-voters to vote by proposing popular things instead of trying to get people who hate you to like you?

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 25 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Makes you miss the football-lucy days, doesn't it?

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

At this rate, in 2028 they're just going to say "we will be identical to the Republicans. Vote for us anyways".

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 19 points 1 day ago (1 children)

tl;dw: "I'm a liberal and my political party sucks but I'm incapable of imagining any alternatives other than the right wing."

Credit where it's due. On the potential "issue" of Cory Booker's veganism:

It's not unprecedented, Bill Clinton turned vegan after he was president, and Joe Biden was an actual vegetable.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I remember back when I was in high school and the daily show made fun of people who said stupid shit like this chomsky-yes-honey

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, but that was because they wanted you to laugh. They still didn't want you to do anything about it.

[–] ElChapoDeChapo@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

They're a comedy show, so I don't expect them to lead the revolution or even do anything particularly good or productive but asking them to not be this actively and openly neoliberal seems like an extremely low bar

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Was this before your time?

[–] Sphere@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That was literally a bunch of dumb libs (myself included; I was in attendance, embarrassingly enough) believing they would lead the revolution or something, when in fact they were just doing a comedy show (with music I guess? We couldn't see or hear anything and we only got back to the hotel room in time to see the credits roll, so I have no idea what the actual content was)

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 5 points 1 day ago

Lol. And what's hilarious (in a very morbid way) is that you can absolutely link the stuff libs were riled up about (tea party, Glenn beck, health care, patriot act) to the shit happening today. And John was like, let's all just calm down and get along. Be civil with each other! Lol.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago

It’s just the dem voters they want to lower their expectations, the dem donors will always have their expectations met.

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

I she the centrist celebrity du hour? Are the dems trying to make Mar-a-lago face bipartisan?

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 14 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Wonder what she's got on her porn history to shill like this lmao

[–] Robert_Kennedy_Jr@hexbear.net 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She's already on her "Why I left the Left" arc, so probably just a waning career and desire to stay relevant.

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 7 points 1 day ago

Is it always the Batman meme of you either die a hero or live long enough to be the villain?

[–] SteamedHamberder@hexbear.net 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

She did a comedy special where she brought out a real doll of herself. Genuinely horrifying. Should never have questioned my volcel oath.

[–] Commiechameleon@hexbear.net 2 points 1 day ago

Imo I'd rather be the 'doll', but constantly objectifying oneself is tiring. The vocel and nocel urges ebb and flow. But yeah fuck that lmao

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 9 points 1 day ago

This will pick up two moderates in the suburbs.

I hope they get Hillary to help sell this message, they’ll need her unbearable loser energy

[–] whiskers165@hexbear.net 6 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Since her expectations are so low I guess it doesn't really matter who you vote for or don't vote for. Her expectations are so low we're on track to exceed them with flying carpets no matter who we elect
