There's no going back. We all know that, right? This is the new normal. This is life forever more now.
We can totally go back. 20 years ago, this was normal. Hell, 20 years ago there was a public countdown timer for when Emma Watson turned 18. And relatively recently, that kind of thing gets cited as an example of how crazy attitudes were in the very recent past.
Some people are trying to make it normal again. They're attempting to recreate the past. Re-enacting it. Reactionaries. I personally don't think they're gonna succeed... but, even if they do, well, the past became the present. Sensibilities that changed for the worse can also change for the better again. After all, that's what happened the first time round.

There is a fascinating thing that happens with chuds where anytime one of them get caught doing/saying stupid shit, they all become therapists. I saw the same thing with a rich-guy lawyer I worked opposite who claimed that the failson he represented couldn't possibly have known better, because he was just a 25 year old little kid. When I was arguing that case, I was 24, which is presumably why the failkid got convicted.

I'm surprised this kind of thing didn't happen sooner. Right wing media narratives about Trump and Epstein have had to make more and more compromises the more obvious it became the two were very close. At first it was something like "Everyone knew Epstein. The Clintons knew him too!"
Then it was something like "Ok Trump and Epstein were close but Trump didn't know about the pedo stuff." Then it was "ok Trump knew about it but that's why he didn't talk to Epstein after 2003." I guess now we're at a point where they have to argue that it wasn't actually pedophilia.

one of the Right's argument against LGBTQ acceptance is that it was a sliding slope that would lead to acceptance of paedophilia and eventually to zoophillia. Well here we are, and the Right, to protect their orange leader, is saying that sex with children is ok, as long as they aren't babies....ugh
To be fair, they never really claimed that the LGBT-community would be the ones actually DOING the "normalizing" of pedo-shit and zoo-philia. So maybe the argument was less about what LGBT-people would do, and a lot more of a threat from their side.
