It's great that so many insurers in the US cover chiropracty, which has no scientific evidence of its efficacy, but do not cover gender-affirming care, which has mountains.

[-] Huldra@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

Isn't it to the point where many insurers do cover chiropracty, but do not cover actual scientific physical therapy and recovery?

[-] regul@hexbear.net 22 points 4 months ago

According to my one friend on Medicaid who goes to a chiropractor, it's much harder to get an appointment with a PT.

I know a guy that went to chiropractor school. Halfway through he realized it was all bullshit, but he had sunk so much money into it that he saw it through. He's a working chiro now, and I think he has made himself 'believe' in it.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

Yeah I think a lot of these "doctors" got the sunk cost fallacy going on and start believing all the woo woo shit.

[-] Frank@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

Everything i have to say about chiro constitutes and actionable threat of violence so i'm just going to stay quiet. marx-guns-blazing

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

I think they're honest hard working grifters. Takes a lot of balls to tell a grandmother with cancer that violently snapping her spine will cure it with the help of gemstones and crystals.

As a Victim of Chiropractics I desire to know more ✨ dm me your chiro fedposting ✨

[-] Taster_Of_Treats@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

Use that encrypted chat the dm interface recommends. Lemmy DM communications are no more secure than public comments.

[-] ashinadash@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

You heard it here first, send me your fedthoughts encrypted!!

[-] Taster_Of_Treats@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

I mean sending it to one person vs literally anybody who has a lemmy server are two very different risk profiles.

Although the person asking you to fed-message is not necessarily the person you want to fed-message 😅

fedposting Shhhhhsh I'm tryna set up a honeypot for people who really hate chiropractors

[-] CrackBurger@hexbear.net 27 points 4 months ago

Americans would rather get neck and spinal fractures from cracker boomer ring dinger than go to therapy

[-] WilsonWilson@hexbear.net 19 points 4 months ago

A practitioner can customize the amplitude of the thrust to best match the needs of the application.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

Honestly probably works better as a sex toy anyway.

[-] Des@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago

my local doc who is right next to my house and in my network recommended a chiropractor when i went in for an acute back injury

i did get the medication i needed but having a a GP recommend a quack did not instill confidence in me

Not up your b-hole if that's what your filthy mind has in mind.

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

What about the other holes?

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

You could probably hot glue a dildo to this sucker and rev it up.

[-] Taster_Of_Treats@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

Buy a real fuck machine for $300 to $600 instead.

[-] Owl@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

The a-hole and the b-hole are actually the same hole.

[-] cream_provider@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

Similar but they’re actually different generations of the same hole. The c-hole is coming out in 2025 and it’s going to revolutionize the hole game.

The funniest bit about Chiropractic is that they believe fucking with your spine can cure anything.

[-] abc@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

people love chiropractors and it is so funny to me as someone whose parents have always been like "do not go to a chiropractor they will FUCK up your spine"

have had multiple friends throughout my life who have been like "I need to visit my chiropractor" whenever their back hurts and I'm always like NO...YOU NEED TO STRETCH...

[-] commiewithoutorgans@hexbear.net 2 points 4 months ago

My back hurts like shit if I don't stretch for like 3 days. But 5.5 minutes of stretching and I'm good for 2 more. I'm fully convinced the people I know with back pain that a chiropractor fixes are actually just getting stretched by them and feeling better from that.

Though cracking your back does feel great too, for me it's just something that happens as I stretch in stead of a stretch happening when I crack my back

Yeah this is genuinely 100% it in my experience having talked to many friends who are intelligent enough to realize "hmm maybe I shouldn't be letting this barely 'licensed' dude twist my neck around" but will gladly keep going because they've correlated their back feeling better with the appointments. In my experience though if you invite them to a yoga class, or just challenge their ego by saying they can't do Downward & Upward dog into Bow pose and subsequently leading them into it if they happen to be one of your male friends; suddenly they'll realize "wow this is a lot safer and more relaxing....I thought getting my back cracked was supposed to be painful" -- actual thing my friend, whose mother used to take him to her monthly chiro appointments, said to the rest of us after we started doing yoga on the beach one day.

[-] commiewithoutorgans@hexbear.net 1 points 4 months ago

Holy shit that poor man! I don't do a ton of yoga, mostly because I stretch a lot for running and lifting so it often feels double, but it's a great way to get someone to stretch without it feeling like a chore. I hadn't considered that (though, as you imply, masculinity can get in the way). Keep healthy comrade :denguin:

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

Actual physical therapists who also do chiropractory are okay because they actually know the anatomy and sports medicine

The adjustments make my neck not hurt horribly so they can do all the fucking witchcraft they want

It's a handheld device that taps your spine. That's it, that's all it does. That'll be 1 grand please.

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

Is this spinal tap?

In a moment of desperation I went to a chiropractor for about six months.

I paid something like 75$ a visit to do light physical therapy on my own for 30 minutes. After I got a consult with my primary care physician, who pretty much gave me a printout with a list of exercises to do on my own I got to feel a bit silly and stopped the chiropractor thing.
