holds up platypus with feathers glued to it BEHOLD! A BIRD!

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 67 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

removes feathers

And now it's a man!

Adds fedora

Perry the Man?!?

Now I really want an avatar style platypus bird. Imagine how cute a flying platypus would be!

Actually thinking about it, I feel like that would be the perfect representation of all four elements (venom has to count for fire, no?).

[–] idiomaddict@feddit.de 4 points 2 years ago

That’s why they’re also fire! They swim, look like badger moles, and (if they had wings) they fly!

[–] Hugin@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I have a feeling that if avatar had a platypus it would just be a platypus.

Flawless deduction.

[–] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 37 points 2 years ago (2 children)

All you people mocking OP-- careful now, that's a slippery slope and before you know it you'll be believing that dogs are mammals.

[–] Strobelt@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (1 children)

But then why Pluto is a pet dog and Goofy is a human dog? Checkmate scientists.

[–] RGB3x3@lemmy.world 7 points 2 years ago

Easy explanation: slavery.

[–] CCF_100@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

OP is now a variable, and you're decrementing him by one.

Chickens are birds, aren't they? Just like how penguins are birds, and unlike penguins they can actually fly short distances.

[–] Wes4Humanity@lemm.ee 26 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yes, chickens and penguins are birds

We can probably just use process of elimination... They don't have live babies or nurse their young, so not mammals... They're warm blooded so not reptiles, amphibians, or fish... I think it's self evident that they aren't slime, mold, bacteria, or a virus... So, we're left with birds

[–] Liz@midwest.social 11 points 2 years ago (4 children)

The ability to fly does not make a bird. Birds are actually a pretty easy group to identify. Does it look like a bird? Great! It's a bird!

Reminds me of some 20 questions-like tv trivia where someone asked "is it an animal" and the other went "well, not exactly an animal". It was a bird. 😳

[–] MIDItheKID@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That reminds me of this clip. I showed this to a few people who also agreed that fish are not animals, at which point it turns into an argument about about Domain - Kingdom - Phylum - Class etc and I feel like I am losing my mind. Getting gaslit by stupid people is a frustrating experience.

[–] Chadus_Maximus@lemm.ee 18 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Damn. And here I was, being a fool, calling chickens dinosaurs...

[–] insufferableninja 3 points 2 years ago

Nah, but dinosaurs were all chickens. One little asteroid and they all just died, like cowards.

No they're dinosaurs

[–] RegalPotoo@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Birds 👏 aren't 👏 real 👏

[–] BowtiesAreCool@lemmy.world 13 points 2 years ago

I love the meme but it goes so far sometimes I worry how many genuine believers there might be. Flat Earth 2.0

[–] Syd@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago

Last time I mentioned that birds are legitimately being turned into drones I received tons of negative votes. Be careful, the government WILL try to silence you

[–] merthyr1831@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

holding a chicken to the crowd BEHOLD! A BIRD!

[–] MSugarhill@feddit.de 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Anyway, both chicienband ducks are dinosaurs. That's what I tell my child. Birds are just a subcategory of dinosaurs.

Some folks fully deserve the bird

[–] RIP_Cheems@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

I have an answer but no one would want to know it.

[–] FiniteBanjo@lemmy.today 5 points 2 years ago

Wait until he figures out Ducks, Chickens, and Alligators are all Archosaurs.

[–] ____@infosec.pub 5 points 2 years ago

Are we asking normal humans, or Noem?

[–] postmateDumbass@lemmy.world 5 points 2 years ago

Wait until user IsEenYourShine gets to the part about dinosaurs.

[–] Webster@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

Or if you're a fan of Brandon Sanderson, all birds are chickens.
