I get hella stoned and watch Foodfight! at least once a year. It’s my “favorite” movie.

Everything about it, from the implied beastiality between Charlie Sheen and Hillary Duff, to the weird gay bat, to the shitweasel is a masterclass in what not to do in a movie. It transcends badness and becomes something sublime. The entire plot is about how store brands/generics are Nazis, and one of the Nazis absolutely chews the scenery in a way that makes Brian Blessed look reserved.

Any number of MST3K movies - some of my favourites include Time Chasers, Pod People, Space Mutiny, Skydivers, Red Zone Cuba, Mitchell, Angels' Revenge, Manos: The Hands of Fate, Horror of Party Beach, The Horrors of Spider Island, The Touch of Satan...

Non-MST3K - Miami Connection, Last Samurai, The Room, and a very recent discovery, an absolutely batshit crazy Spanish/Italian horror film, Tragic Ceremony.

Bio dome! It's horrible, and I love it.

[–] Quetzalcutlass@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

I remember sympathizing with the villain through nearly the whole thing.

The only sane choice when idiots are destroying the planet and blaming you for not being happy about the party, is to go insane and try and kill the polluters.

Not yet seen mentioned:

UHF - Weird Al's good-bad classic

Spice World - The Spice Girls knew what they were doing.

Shaolin Soccer - Yes, Ninjas would be good at sports.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Kung Fu Hustle is a good companion movie to Shaolin Soccer.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 4 points 17 hours ago

They Live and From Beyond are some of the biggest turds that I love dearly.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 6 points 19 hours ago (3 children)

Stuff I haven't seen mentioned yet:

1984 Dune. It's one of my favorite movies period.

Return of the Killer Tomatoes is on my top 10 favorite bad movies I'd say. Top 20 at least.

The Tune (Bill Plympton movie).

Clue (and very similar Murder By Death)

Empire Records

Cool as Ice (Rifftrax edition)

Actually, on that front - The Room + Birdemic (Rifftrax edition)

Zardoz

Original Little Shop of Horrors

Murder By Death

“I found a bullet hole…. Never mind”

[–] Mr_Wobble@thelemmy.club 5 points 17 hours ago

How is Clue bad?!

[–] BlackLaZoR@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

Alien Resurrection. You just can't watch that garbage without laughing.

The Cat in the Hat (2004) is my pick. I loved it as a kid and I still love it as an adult. Lots of humor for all ages and all the practical props and sets are so neat.

They said bad movies.

Super Mario Bros. 1993. It is by far the movie that puts the biggest "fun" smile on my face, especially when watching it stoned. It's so goofy in the best way and comes across as funny in a way that makes me have fun with it every time.

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 2 points 19 hours ago

I mentioned Rifftrax in another comment, but the Rifftrax version of this and Street Fighter are two of my favorite things ever.

[–] jpreston2005@lemmy.world 2 points 22 hours ago

the amount of slime in that movie makes it impossible for me to watch stoned. Like, if I got that slimey, while stoned, I would be freaking the fuck out. Great movie though. I still love John Luigi-zamo

Another one: Orgazmo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orgazmo

By the guys of South Park.

idk, morbius?

[–] pi3r8@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The warriors. I love it. I don't care how silly it is. Normally I don't do musicals but the awful bugsy Malone with the pie fights. We had to watch it at school and it cracked me up how ridiculous it is.

[–] stringere@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 hour ago

Come out and play

[–] JoeTheSane@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

Killer Klowns for Outer Space

[–] Zannsolo@lemmy.world 1 points 23 hours ago

August Rush, it's not even a genre I typically enjoy and it's so cheesy but I've watched it a bunch of times.

[–] GoofSchmoofer@lemmy.world 23 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The Riddick Chronicles. Bad acting, bad CGI, Simple stupid inconsistent plot, one dimensional characters. perfect bad sci-fi.

Velocipastor is an amazing bad movie that intended to be bad. There's even a scene where a car explodes and it's just some text that says "VFX of car exploding"

It's about a pastor that can turn into a velociraptor... When there's gore it's like obviously fake, like a head rolls off and it's clear as day that it's a mannequin head. It's so bad it's amazing.

Oh yeah, and there are ninjas.

[–] EditsHisComments@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

And the fact every flashback of the pastor was in a church of a different denomination lol

[–] ProdigalFrog@slrpnk.net 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The Mummy (1999) I believe was panned by critics at release, but I think it's an absolutely fantastic and humorous adventure film.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 5 points 17 hours ago

It's a solid 10. Brendan Fraser's finest work.

[–] GrayBackgroundMusic@lemmy.zip 23 points 1 day ago (5 children)

Kung pow enter the fist. Steve oedekerk, not Bob, intentionally made a bad movie by over dubbing rewriting bad 70s martial arts films. It's absurd and stupid. I love it.

By all accounts The Boondock Saints is a "bad" movie but we all watched it when we were 12 and thought it was fucking awesome and still do.

Equilibrium (2002) wasn’t well received when it came out. I think it’s still “bad” on RT but imdb has it at 7.3 now. I don’t care if gun-kata is silly and dumb, it looks cool as fuck.

[–] alternategait@lemmy.world 2 points 17 hours ago

I definitely gave up on it half way through and made up my own ending.

Sucker Punch

The internet loves to shit on it. I've always enjoyed it. It's a visual/audio treat.

[–] hypnicjerk@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

the extended cut is a genuinely compelling narrative on top of the impressive variety of aesthetics & action sequences. folks are welcome to find it cringey and overdone but that's a matter of taste. it's a little too porny for me as a grown ass man but i thought it was great fun as a teen, go figure.

the pg-13 theatrical cut was hot dog water that left the emotional climax of the film on the cutting room floor.
