It wouldn't actually be so bad if everything else wasn't fast becoming unaffordable as well. If bills, rent, shopping and other expenses were not already sky high, then we might be able to afford the higher game prices.

You have to go through this even when you're applying for something like shelf stacking at your local store. It's truly ridiculous.
Try it and see how it works for you. There’s really no telling what it will be like because each system is different and will respond to the different distros of Linux and their kernel versions in different ways. For a time Fedora worked better on my laptop but Kubuntu caught up and hardware support was improved in their newest kernel so now I’m back on that xD
But yeah, for my 2025 laptop Fedora was extremely stable and I never ran into a problem. I just missed the big repos of the Debian/Ubuntu family.
Yep! I've known people to get banned for using far left terminology and with nothing threatening either being said. It seems if you piss off one of the mods on there on one of their bad days, then it can easily be game over for your time in that sub, or even your account. it's that easy to catch a ban that you probably have less chance of catching a cold lmfao. Reddit has given the mods far too much power. I'm so glad for the Fediverse!
I'm lying in bed between two fans just to survive on a top floor apartment.
I become even more glad and grateful of Linux with each passing day!
With each passing debacle I become ever more glad that Linux exists!
This would be such a cool thing, too bad it will only be used to scrape our data in order to sell us more ads. There are far too many technologies and concepts that have been ruined already due to bloody greed.
Ok I had a reply typed up here last night but I must have deleted it by accident :/ it was a post saying how cool it all is and thanking you for explaining it!
They sadly have too much confidence in their AI banning system.
There have been reports of people being permabanned for no reason they can think of, and then later being unbanned after some time. They are fast becoming like Facebook in that regard. Whatever your reason for being permabanned, count it as a blessing in disguise.
I was upset at first because I was permabanned for sharing pics of my own body even though they were posted in the right NSFW subs(I had an adult only alt account, that got banned and then when I logged into my main I was permabanned for ban evasion even though that was my 5 year old main, go figure :/)... but i've come to realise that Lemmy/Piefed are much better than Reddit in many ways that I wonder why I did not come here sooner!
