If you are 72 years old you should not be starting fights in the street. The fact his ego was the only thing injured is the best outcome.

Extremely reasonable amount of force applied all things considered. They're kinda lucky this dude was as reasonable as he was and unwilling to really hurt an old guy. I'm kinda impressed by the restraint tbh.
This country is going to rip itself apart

“This great society is going to smash” as WH Auden would say
oof the comments on this, kid is alright tho
It's like being transported back to middle school
If they scarecrow like that (arms out, knees not bent) they're really vulnerable at the hips. So if you're wrestling you get a clean ass double leg and heave them over. But assuming the grip on the helmet is strong and they commit to the straight arm it's all about tapping on the feet in my experience. You pull him to take a step forward on the helmet-hand side and slide that foot out with a ko uchi gari and land on top of em for a clean pin and call it a day. The stiff arm is a noob trap. If you go up against a mean judo player you're going into orbit for the trouble.
He's also like 70, you might break his arm by stepping forward suddenly while he's holding it stiff. If this guy was even a remote threat, then yeah he was also entering a fight in a really really bad way. However if he was a threat I would have my helmet off and using it as a weapon before it got that far. If someone who otherwise could beat me up tried using onto me like that I would feel immediate relief cause this person clearly doesn't understand that yku dont grab someone during a confrontation unless its followed by something painful, dont initiate physical contact without the goal of making the other person unable to do whatever they wanted to do. That's hust basic real life fighting.
Ive been having fun sparring against a pretty high level Judo person that im friends with, like almost made it to the Olympics representing Japan. It turns out that if you're way bigger and stronger Judo doesnt work well if the ruleset is just generalized grappling. Im guessing formal judo is similar cause they have weight classes. Im a small guy, like 5 foot 6 and abkut 150 pounds my exercise is my faorly physocal job and i smoke, my opponent being a Japanese women im sure I could easily lift over my head made it prettt easy even though theyre supposed to use my weight and strength against me,but I also knew that was the goal and just leaned in weird directions or did a grab and waited for the response and let go of them.
Oh yeah, there's literally no winning in physical altercations until you can get out of the situation. But God help me I got a sick ass ouchigari in a similar sort of situation in a competitive round against a stiff arming opponent. I pray for the restraint to walk away from something stupid, useless, and easily avoidable.
But on the subject of general grappling, it's an underappreciated part of BJJ that you can use any style you want on the feet. I get typecasted as a judoka so whenever I stuff a wrestling takedown it's this "gentle" reminder that they're not overcoming me that easily. Then if I'm not making progress with grips, unlike a judo class, I can go "you know what? Fuck this." and launch myself at their hips for the double.
Going with someone who's much lighter and weaker is always a little touchy, but it's not impossible to keep it dynamic. When I'm picking on someone my own size, sometimes I'll use jerky, poppy movements to try and get my way. So when I try to do the same thing on a smaller partner it feels like bullying it's not fun. I'll always be scanning to make sure that if I were their size and would I have been pushed over then I'll just go with it. And I'll ask myself if my techniques are "real" that if they get pushed over it's by principaled grappling and not an extra strength stiff arm. With all of this you can approximate a full contact round in which your smaller partner can work but also still be at risk of getting outmaneuvered.
Im just like...a guy who had fought as an adult a few times. I have no he what ant martial arts stuff means. My judo hokie just wanted to see how practical it was amd fighting is fun as hell im a low risk scenario. Full contact isnt safe for either of us. Its unsupervised and im pretty sure youre not just allowed to consentually fight in a park and should somwone go to the hospital it would be a whole thing, not worth it for just fucking around
My bad, comrade!
I think everyone should do a little bit of martial arts sparring. Why? So that what I say makes more sense and everyone can ooo and ahhh at my martial prowess
Was he mad cuz the dude didn't have a license plate?
He's on an e-bike, and not even using it on an actual road. You don't need a plate for a bike, especially if you're on a fucking trail.
Wow this is the first time I have actually opened a twitter thread only to see slurs in nearly every comment. I have opened a few before and been pleasantly surprised by how mostly not awful it was. Y'all weren't kidding huh
What was he mad about
Everytime I open twitter I am appalled at how awful it is
Feel like i contracted something reading the comments
been a minute since i was last on twitter, but holy shit those comments.. im glad i never had that shit in my timeline back then
Right?! It’s unreal
Even I’m a little shocked at how 4channed it is and my expectations couldn’t be lower
this is actually an egregious example. most are just AI scambots/content farms mixed with "@grok is this real"
What the fuck are those comments, I can't tell who's mad at who it's just slurs everywhere what
Lmao that's satisfying. Kinda wish he threw the woman in the bushes too.
Eh, I would just insult them and gtfo of there. If they decide to chase me like the fucking morons they are, I will ride to the nearest police station.
