while i'm not comfortable to say that the theoretical model of FPTP strategic voting is completely false, for the love of god stop trying to reduce decades of politics into re-occurring singular "never to be repeated" moments of choosing between only two candidates that belong on a single dimension of good/bad and you just have to vote for someone that is closest to the good part.
even ignoring the game theory of it at all, i just can't fathom why do people not understand that when you make your vote a guarantee for a party, the only logical choice for that party is to ignore you and pivot to the population that might not vote for them. getting the "lesser evil" now simply makes the next election be between evil and greater evil.
