Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I love how much he doesn't realize discovery will be part of this process.

Kiddo, you can't throw SLAPP suits at journalists when you're swimming in evidence you're doing exactly what the jounalist said you're doing.

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 94 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

Kash is not using HIS money, that's OUR hard earned money he's wasting.

Where is DOGE when you need them???

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 24 points 2 weeks ago (4 children)

Why tf does he get to use government funds for a personal issue?

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 17 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

It's not a personal issue, he's the head of the FBI and the suit is against how he's ~~running~~ ruining it.

An excellent example of why you should vote Democratic for the next few years. Clear out these idiots.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I thought the suit was him suing a reporter for writing a story about him?

[–] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, him running the FBI while drunk.

Well, I know the voting MACHINES like him.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Corruption...?

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

Corruption and abuse of power.

[–] girsaysdoom@sh.itjust.works 19 points 2 weeks ago

Working for the pedophiles like they always have.

[–] lemmyng@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Gnome shot the wrong DOGE.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 17 points 2 weeks ago (3 children)

He knows all that. He was a lawyer. He also knows how the bullshit civil courts work in the US and how Americans think suing someone means you are validated.

[–] Manjushri@piefed.social 20 points 2 weeks ago

He knows all that. He was a lawyer.

The later is not absolute evidence for the former. There are lawyers who are also morons. Well known example: Rudy Giuliani. I sincerely believe that Patel may not understand the hole he's dug for himself.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 2 points 2 weeks ago

But does he know about cocaine and ethanol? Me thinks not.

[–] Mirshe@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Also, you can just harass and paper-whip a journalist out of existence a lot easier when you're the head of the FBI. Hell, worse comes to worst, call up your buddies in charge of the Pentagon or CIA, I'm sure they can find someone to just knock off the plaintiffs for cheap.

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

That normally implies cordial relations between heads of departments. No one in the administration likes anyone else, they like themselves and sucking up to Trump to benefit themselves.

Kash would need to get Trump to get someone else to cooperate and you can't go running to the boss to clean up your mess when you're supposed to be cleaning up his!

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 12 points 2 weeks ago

He's a bully, so he thinks that the threat of a lawsuit will make the problem go away. He hasn't thought about what happens if it goes further than that.

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

It seems like the modus operandi of anyone in the Trump circle and the misunderstanding of MAGA meaning Making Attorneys Get Attorneys

[–] shweddy@lemmy.world 125 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

He could've ignored the news and not sued anyone and it probably would've blown over in a few days. He's streisanding himself and hopefully he gets counter sued for damages and then gets fired

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 38 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

hopefully he gets counter sued for damages and then gets fired

He'd get fired for not doing what trump wants...

Kash and people like RFK Jr are where they're at because of all this stupid shit they do.

Every headline about how dumb they are, takes the place of a headline about how dumb trump is.

But no matter how much they fuck up, as long as they do what trump says they won't get fired. trump doesn't pay attention to what the FBI should be doing, so it doesn't matter if that shit gets done.

Only time this will be a problem, is if he's wasted and unreachable when trump demands he goes on TV and lie. As long as he can stumble up there and lie, he's golden in Trump's eyes.

It doesn't even have to be convincing, look at that video of a guy too drunk to stand up at a TPU event recently, trump was fine with that, because the guy said what trump wanted him too.

Even if it was incomprehensible

Edit:

It was Paul Goser

https://atlantablackstar.com/2026/04/18/he-drunk-trump-watched-from-the-front-row-as-slobbering-ally-slurred-through-gloating-praise-then-a-strange-physical-breakdown-sparks-viral-chaos/

Article has a video

[–] neidu3@sh.itjust.works 6 points 2 weeks ago

Exactly, Kash has an audience of exactly one, and that is all that matters to him. If his lawsuit causes Trump to look bad, that's when he'll be in trouble.

[–] limonfiesta@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Paul Gossars own siblings volunteered to help in attack ads run by his opponent a few cycles back.

[–] khepri@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

The Streisand Effect is very rarely understood by the kind of emotional infants Trump prefers to surround himself with.

[–] desertdruid@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

Oh Streisand affect you harsh mistress lol

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (2 children)

*effect

To affect (verb) is to alter something To effect (verb) is to cause to happen The effect (noun) is the result

So one can affect the situation by effecting the effect.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Urgh I'm terrible with that. I just avoid those two words like the goddamn plague.

[–] MrEff@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

I always just remember 'an affect is not a thing' as in, effect is a thing (noun) and affect is a noun. Then I just avoid the second one, the effect verb form.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Do you find the effect of those words affects your mood ?

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago

There's definitely an impact.

I have been inundated by additional sourcing going up to the highest levels of the government, thanking us for doing the work, providing additional corroborating information.

Trump confirmed snitching on Patel's drunk ass

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 9 points 2 weeks ago

Or maybe couch fucker.

[–] DickFiasco@sh.itjust.works 12 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

His misconduct is an asset to his bosses. This kind of administration doesn't hire people who don't already have a good reason to be fired. Yes-men have to be easy to fire and they have to know it. Otherwise they start thinking for themselves.

Like the US men's hockey team?

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

There is a player, I believe wearing a blue shirt (top left), who appeared unimpressed with the Keystone Cop and the way he guzzles down beer. What a complete waste of good beer that is going to be pissed out by a fucking clown.
