I may not be American, but I am a native speaker of English, and what you said there is a terrible, or at least tenuous, interpretation. If what you said was the intended meaning, the comment would have begun with 'Americans, how can you live with ....'

You omitted that in the US, employment is largely "at will", which means even taking a few hours off work, even asking for that, can result in that person being fired, and many won't take that risk.

As much as I want to believe that, it could also go the other way. They only needed to convince two others to sign on to full on fascism and it would have been a 5-4 in favour of trump.

Next time, the three that think the constitution is to be ignored, might be able to convince two more to side with them.
