If the same friend who tried really hard to convince me people should vote for Kamala "for trans people" tries again, I'm just blocking them on all platforms lol. Don't do this to me again.

Before you block them please first tell them that I'm a trans WOC who swears

  1. I would rather be personally shot by JD Vance than vote for KKKamala "HHolocauϟϟt HHarri⚡︎⚡︎" and yes the Maoist Standard English is essential.

  2. The Democratic Party is as evil as the Nazi Party

  3. It's extremely transphobic and disgusting to use trans people as their excuse for supporting Nazis. They should just own that they're a Nazi sympathizer

  4. I have never met them but I personally hate them and hope they suffer long

Harris v Hillary while AOC gets the Bernie/Corbyn treatment despite being overwhelmingly popular with the base would be a funny primary to watch.

Democrats are the team rocket of politics.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 35 points 5 days ago (1 children)

will she make it to a primary vote this time?

[–] ZWQbpkzl@hexbear.net 30 points 5 days ago

At one point, the crowd in the packed ballroom repeatedly chanted, “Run again! Run again!”

Later, the cheers for Harris grew to such a tenor, Sharpton jokingly admonished the crowd: “This is a convention, not a revival.”

it-is-happening-again they fucking pay to live in their own IRL echo chamber.

There's some sort of constructed social reality that surrounds popular democratic politicians. Like a halo of consultants, orbiting the politician, going beyond being a yes-man but actively encouraging delusion and shielding them from any negativity. Truley Potemkin village shit. Some psychologist should embed themselves amongst them and do a study.

Humiliation is the Democrats’ barely disguised fetish

I think we need to be transactional voters,” she said to scattered cheers in the room. “Here’s what I’m suggesting in addition: get yours. Vote and say, ‘I’m voting because I expect something out of this’…. I’m saying it’s okay to also give people permission to be transactional, and to say, if you will get my vote, this is what I expect. I expect to get something out of this.

Okay cool so you are telling us not to vote for you?

Brilliant strategy.

"Scattered cheers" is a hell of a way to frame what was likely most of the people being like "Uh... what the fuck?"

Liberals really do act like something they just learned about (like the concept of democratic representation) is a wholly unique idea that they just came up with and no one else knew about.

Politics really is just sports teams trying to take home the trophy once every four years to these people

It's such pathetic consolation to see this clown eat shit while the dying beast of empire destroys the world, but boy did I feel excited reading the headline and imagining getting to watch her catastrophically fail without being able to use her 100 days excuse. She wouldn't even make it to the general if a single quarter-decent (in terms of "electability") centrist runs against her.

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 28 points 5 days ago

ITS HER TURN (to do infinite genocide at the behest of her AIPAC donors)

[–] unaware@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago

Harris gives her clearest signal the Republicans are winning in 2028

[–] PurrLure@hexbear.net 17 points 5 days ago

Mom says it's my turn to lose a national election! contextphobic

B-But you just lost the last election! MOOOOOOOM! social-democracy

But seriously if the DemoKKKratic Party wants to run a woman of color and insists that they just have to run a woke-imperialist monster (KKKamala "HHolocauϟϟt HHarri⚡︎⚡︎" , AOCIA), Rashida Talib and Ilhan Omar are right there as the obvious ticket, and then they could actually get votes from leftists.  Those are the only two Democrats I would vote for.  What are the centrist dems going to do, vote for Trump's successor? No, they're so afraid of the Republicans that they'll fall in line and vote blue no matter who.

[–] FortifiedAttack@hexbear.net 17 points 5 days ago

They need someone who's guaranteed to do nothing of value while in office. Rashida and Ilhan do not check that box.

[–] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 14 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

the-democrat

"Sorry but we've decided that the left's vote isn't worth pursuing, don't worry though, we'll still shame you for not voting as we try to target the 15 or so Republicans in the country who consider possibly voting for us if only we'd be a little more openly racist."

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

No, they're so afraid of the Republicans that they'll fall in line and vote blue no matter who.

Welllllll… would they? I think a lot of that rhetoric comes out of people in a comfortable assumption that it’ll be a “sensible centrist” that will win the primary and it’s the left that has to hold their nose when they vote. If it’s someone who’s to the left of Elizabeth Warren, you’d be seeing a bunch of “why it’s okay for liberals to vote for Tom Cotton” op-eds.

[–] CommunistCuddlefish@hexbear.net 18 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Of course they would!  They wouldn't just lie in order to gaslight leftists into voting for fascists, would they? curious-sickle

If it’s someone who’s to the left of Elizabeth Warren, you’d be seeing a bunch of “why it’s okay for liberals to vote for Tom Cotton” op-eds.

Of course, you're correct.  And they'd blame the Left for destroying the Democratic Party by forcing liberals to vote for the Republican Party to stop Communism.

[–] MeetMeAtTheMovies@hexbear.net 10 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Oh god. You filthy leftists. You’ve made me do this. I just. I cannot believe you forced me to vote for the ballot initiative to kill all puppies. I will never forgive you for twisting my arm to the point of breaking such that I must act against my dearly held liberal principles. God damn you all to hell, vile wretches.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 10 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Unfortunately, Ilhan Omar isn't eligible as she isn't a natural born citizen. There's always chatter about amending the constitution to allow foreign-born citizens to hold office. But the monkey's paw curls and we wouldn't get Ilhan Omar. We'd get something like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Victoria Spartz, Elon Musk, Andy Garcia, or Elaine Chao.

[–] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 21 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm sure she hasn't declared openly yet because there's still some backroom battling within the Dem donor class.

I say this because Harris has proven she's blue loyalist and has no qualms doing anything for her party elite. Her entire entry into Biden's campaign and her time as VP show that and it's why the party so quickly anointed her when Biden was out.

She doesn't have an independent support base on the ground or in the elite class, she's entirely dependent on party rule. And I'm betting that's why she's been coy even though everyone knows she's planning to declare. Harris doesn't just want, she needs the backing of the party elite.

Good do it again, we can't have anything nice or good but I can at least see a neoliberal ghoul eat shit for the 3rd time.

[–] stink@lemmygrad.ml 22 points 5 days ago

Can't wait for her to lose again

[–] miz@hexbear.net 16 points 5 days ago

the problem last time was she only had two campaign HQs. you can't win a modern American presidential race with just two HQs. you are going to need four or five HQs with overlapping responsibilities

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 19 points 5 days ago

Why do they love humiliation so much?

I hate American politics...

“Freedom,” Beyoncé’s 2016 hit that became the soundtrack of Harris’ 2024 campaign, played over the loudspeaker as attendees filed in, and a sizzle reel of footage showing Sharpton and Harris together projected onto the two screens that frame the main stage, something no other possible 2028 presidential contender’s attendance featured.

Somewhere a Rat is crying...

Harris was the sixth possible 2028 contender to take the stage at the conference for a fireside chat with Sharpton, a tacit acknowledgement that whether the hopefuls ultimately decide to run or not, they know they can’t skip this room. Black voters make up a huge chunk of the Democratic primary base and will play a major role in determining the party’s next presidential nominee.
