Nazis really love fucking with other peoples' religions. First the swastika and now this.

Because fuck clickbait

izanami -> imanazi (im a nazi)

[–] fonix232@fedia.io 13 points 9 hours ago

How is it clickbait? The title literally says the name of the ship, and the ability to read a word backwards should be something one acquires by around 5th grade.

First of all, fuck Larry Ellison.

BUT: Apparently he's a giant weeb and all his yachts are named after Japanese stuff. Izanami is a god from Japanese mythology. There is reasonable doubt here.

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago

I mean, not just a god in that mythology but one of the most important ones since she created a lot of other gods. If he's got another boat named Izanagi, I am pretty sure it's just a very, very funny coincidence. Almost like the universe is trying to tell him something about his bullshit Zionist ways.

[–] surewhynotlem@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Two things can be true

[–] mlg@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago

I cant find it now but there was this great photo of a dude dressed up in full SS attire surrounded by a ton of anime posters and figures lol.

Also I'd suggest him a name from an IJN ship that met an untimely end. Plenty of options.

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 97 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Totally accidental, I'm sure.

[–] Godric@lemmy.world 32 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It is the name of a Japanese deity, so I think it is an actual accident. Funny as fuck though!

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 day ago

Yeah a tech billionaire being into Japanese culture is marginally more likely than a billionaire being a Nazi. Lots of over lap of course but I think the Japanese culture fascination is the more likely explanation

[–] Derpenheim@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 day ago

This particular shit bag is a huge weeb, and the name is of a Japanese goddess. It doesn't mean he isnt a nazi, just that this is probably a coincidence.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 12 points 1 day ago

He is a Nazi

[–] thenoirwolfess@lemmynsfw.com 74 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (2 children)

I mean, it's the name of a Japanese goddess but fuck nice things amirite

This is a techbro though so, no tears shed

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 2 points 13 hours ago

I wouldn't grace any of the shite that Oracle makes with the term "technology," except for its database, and it's old and for many years had quality issues so severe that it nearly crashed the firm. Everything else Oracle makes is bloated crap (e.g., its ERP software) or piss-poor me-too variants of Linux distros, cloud platforms, etc. And they managed to make Java even worse, which must have taken some doing.

[–] FerretyFever0@fedia.io 22 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yeah, coincidences can happen. This case, idk, maybe not?

[–] arrow74@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I mean a tech bro being a little too into Japanese culture isn't that out there

[–] sudo@lemmy.today 3 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

But it's more likely he's a Nazi

[–] givesomefucks@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

But the moniker didn’t stick after Ellison was informed that the name spelled something deeply embarrassing when reversed: “I’m a Nazi.”

It’s the kind of joke the “Succession” writers’ room could only dream of coming up with. And it’s especially awkward given the family’s strong ties to Israel. His first wife described Ellison as “an ardent Zionist,” per Vulture, and he’s been known to be “close” with current prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Sounds pretty accurate...

Support a genocidal ethnostate long enough, your subconscious stops trying to be subtle

[–] Schmoo@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

"I'm not that kind of fascist, I'm this other kind of fascist!"

  • Larry Ellison
[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (1 children)

I was gonna say surely you'd not be both so stupid and evil to actually do this intentionally

.... Then I read it was one of Larry Ellison's kids

[–] quick_snail@feddit.nl 3 points 1 day ago

Isn't one of Musk's kids an awesome trans activist?

Also, fuck my father. Children shouldn't be tarnished by their parent's crimes.

[–] lemmylommy@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago

Could have just sold it to Elmo.

[–] solrize@lemmy.ml 14 points 1 day ago
[–] Maeve@kbin.earth 27 points 1 day ago

The name was appropriate.

[–] VibeSurgeon@piefed.social 5 points 1 day ago

One Rich Asshole Called Larry Ellison

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 10 points 1 day ago

Seems to me like the head of a global media conglomerate should be more aware of the messages he sends. If he were an employee, this would probably have gotten him fired. But ownership is the best job security, isn't it?

[–] Lembot_0006@programming.dev 7 points 1 day ago

Yeah, another victory of the great good over the evil evilness: bad word eliminated! Hurray! And don't you fucking dare to not "hurray" with us!

[–] EvilBit@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

They misspelled the word “accurate” in the title as “horrible”

[–] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's why I named my yacht "Dawyaglatotami" as to avoid things like this.

[–] Arcane2077@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago

Is it really that unbelievable that one of the literal devil’s kids is a nazi?

[–] Valmond@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 day ago

So he just reversed it.
