I have been avoiding looking into USians opinions online because the few I saw were either total condemnation (good) or the most fucking lib shit imaginable where they say it's good Maduro is out (shoulder-grab) but condemn the invasion, not because Venezuela is a sovereign country, but because it wasn't approved by the congress, which is just the most unbelievable shit imaginable. amerikkka

But the worst is knowing USians will do literally nothing but make jokes about it as a jab to the big cheeto going forward.

I saw a Russian make a post along the lines of "why do USians get a pass for not overthrowing their government but I don't", never seen so many angry libs lol

I don't know who I hate more between the "proper channels" liberals or the "blood and treasure" libertarians.

Truly amazing how the "muh NAP" guys don't care about the NAP when there's other people's stuff to loot.

I was on linkedin applying to new jobs when I decided to take a quick break and made the mistake of clicking into an article about oil market response

I knew linkedin was always cringe but i did not expect just how ghoulish the comments can get

Like someone said in the other thread you linked and I posted in, I guess the silver-lining is that most people oppose this shit. Now, with that out of the way, a lot of people opposed Iraq and Afghanistan and that went nowhere.

don't gaslight yourself. invading iraq was mid 70s% approval, higher than I saw for western polls of russians at the beginning of the SMO.

public opinion has zero influence on foreign policy and pretty much never has

invading iraq was mid 70s% approval

Once the invasion was underway, IIRC that number peaked above 90% - clearly many of the people "opposed" to it did not actually have strong objections, too. IMO there was a small minority of Americans who ever truly opposed that war.

It also catalyzed the largest antiwar protests worldwide

Absolutely

Domestic policy, too.

most people oppose this shit

When I stay in the right (errr, left and not lib) bubbles, yes, but when I venture outside of them, I start to doom spiral over the number of takes that are at best opposing it on procedural grounds, if not (manufacturing) support.

I’m certainly hopeful that the large amount of procedural opposition will be “enough” but it’s still disheartening.

This. People are eating up the corpo media broadcasting the celebration of gusano Venezuelans in Florida, Chile, Argentina, and Europe. My expectations for the westoids were low but holy fuck! They truly have goldfish memories.

[–] Lussy@hexbear.net 7 points 1 week ago

The fucking gusanos brought this about. This is the coming of age of the Gusano dynasty, the Revenge of the Gusano.

A third opposes, a third supports, and a third is unsure. Source.

3 weeks later, after the actual invasion of Venezuela, after finding out that two of who I thought were my closest friends turned out to not give a fuck about me…

Man who thought he’d harnessed all hatred of everyone in this country finds more hatred he never even thought he had

two of who I thought were my closest friends turned out to not give a fuck about me

Man same shit happened to me. It hurt for a few years. I had to go back in my mind to the beginning of our relationships and realized that I got into those relationships with less than noble intentions, not because I'm evil but just because I didn't know better, which was a result of childhood abuse and all the unhealthy coping mechanisms I picked up along the way to adulthood. By some miracle I actually learned from that episode and it hasn't happened again since and I am more confident now and less likely to get in the same situation again. Happy to talk about it if it helps.

It hurt for a few years.

I’m going to need therapy for a few years

realized that I got into those relationships with less than noble intentions

Seems like you could really give me some good advice. Is it ok if I DM you?

[–] fort_burp@feddit.nl 1 points 1 week ago

Did you get my message?

[–] RedRook1917@hexbear.net 14 points 1 week ago

Fuckin EAT my ASS amerika

Talked to my coworker who is Venezuelan. Their take was glad that Maduro is gone, but understand that it was under terrible circumstances, MAGAzuelans are awful, but the pro-Maduro people are also awful and they are all white so they don't understand the situation. Unfortunately, I don't really argue because I'm a white guy and I have to work closely with this person.
