3 weeks later, after the actual invasion of Venezuela, after finding out that two of who I thought were my closest friends turned out to not give a fuck about me…

Man same shit happened to me. It hurt for a few years. I had to go back in my mind to the beginning of our relationships and realized that I got into those relationships with less than noble intentions, not because I'm evil but just because I didn't know better, which was a result of childhood abuse and all the unhealthy coping mechanisms I picked up along the way to adulthood. By some miracle I actually learned from that episode and it hasn't happened again since and I am more confident now and less likely to get in the same situation again. Happy to talk about it if it helps.
