[–] TheLastHero@hexbear.net 84 points 2 months ago (1 children)

not to downplay this specific action, but the FBI has been doing this for decades, yes, even after COINTELPRO, they didn't stop. I'm sure all the big US orgs have a few agents in them, probably in leadership positions too because they work like they're paid to be there (cuz they are lol) and blow most struggling volunteers out of the water.

Not saying that PSL/DSA/whatever is "an op" in their entirety, but you would be foolish to think that the feds aren't keeping tabs on our activities, especially now they are going rabid. Undercovers are cheap and an relatively easy way to do that with public orgs. Mind your OPSEC comrades, but remember that the Okhrana couldn't stop the Bolsheviks.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 34 points 2 months ago

Given the number of young, black, male leaders within BLM chapters killed while in police custody or under mysterious circumstances (it's over a dozen), I think COINTELPRO was passed down to police departments. I'm sure the FBI still does fed shit, but I think most of the work is now done by local cops.

This, except there really isn't any violence. If you're really lucky, maybe they actually read Lenin and don't discuss how actually he was totally in favour of electoralism. But hey, the reading circle probably does something somewhat leftist, even if half these groups treat Stalin's works like a hot potato, and maybe they use their group resources on some sort of meaningful direct harm reduction, and at least they have pizza at the meetings. Maybe juice boxes, if some 40-something stay at home mom who just comes to dump the kids on her partner for a few hours and say she's attending "book club", has extra after a primary school/scout troop thing.

(Tbf, I know a stereotypical liberal mom who'd absolutely have gone to an ML book club just for fairly basic snacks and to get away from the kids, when her children were both under 10. And she might even have actually read the book, at least once every few meetings.)

Setting up evil commie daycares is an important part of community building in this day and age, most daycares are so absurdly expensive that parents can't afford them, and parents just end up isolated as they can't find the time to interact with people because they always need to "watch the kids"

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago (1 children)

"The kids will learn sharing, the Clean Up Song, and some revolutionary tactics, but it's community building!"

"Okay, so the last three pictures Katie drew at preschool were on red construction paper... but that's not really a serious red flag... okay, so she lectured me about how grownups need to be better at sharing, but she didn't mean to advocate for communism... look, you get what you pay for, and the church nursery is worse."

"Nap time? What kind of anti-woke fascists do you take us for!?"

"A dramatization of the October Revolution is totally an acceptable story for the 3-year-old room's circle time!"

"Yes, we have two bins of teddy bears per room while we don't have near enough of any other toys. No, it's not a Soviet Bear thing that we have teddy bears literally all over the building."

"Yeah, Jamie goes to that damned commie daycare. I'm not a commie or anything, we just can't afford a nicer center and he got kicked out of the church daycare. He drew a nice portrait of Lenin last week. McCarthy would roll in his grave, but what else can I do? Any other childcare would cost more than my wages, and we can't afford for me to be a stay at home parent either."

But seriously, at the very least, when we organise the kind of stuff where it's safe to have kids in the building, we should have some people take turns watching the kids. We don't want good comrades not organising because "I can't even attend a reading group, never mind anything more involved, I have no one to watch my kids for one damn hour". And setting up affordable childcare is a good community project.

Alongside other projects like the more well known Free Breakfast program, the Black Panthers set up free childcare as part of the larger 'Survival Program'

When jailing marijuana users is too dangerous for your piglets, you put them on "leftist terror cell" investigation units to keep them extra safe.

Those who want us dead

Hey, it's that fundamental misunderstanding of what the left wants, which is overwhelmingly for everyone to have their basic needs met so hard that right-wing morons can't find anything to complain about.

I-was-saying

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 11 points 2 months ago

Sure. But executing reactionaries isn't as important as making sure everyone's needs are met. We can start spending resources executing reactionaries once there are no more people homeless or hungry.

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 15 points 2 months ago

"This cop is useless. But we can't fire him from the department."

"Put him on "communist control act" duty. Y'know, report on the local Marxist book club with five members who aren't our guys. He can't possibly injure himself reading books and attending meetings about the books."

Cut to, the pigs can't keep up with the reading. Or hurt themselves anyway.

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

Yeah pretty sure I want them to be so healthy, mentally and emotionally fulfilled, and connected to their communities that they don't feel like... Ya know, committing mass murder.

[–] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 64 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I know it's right-wing messaging/trolling but does everything have to be this level of stupid?

[–] alexei_1917@hexbear.net 9 points 2 months ago

It's the New Red Scare, baby! Just as stupid as the last one! (Not that the original Red Scare ever really ended, obviously.)

[–] redsteel@lemmygrad.ml 52 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Leftist terror cells, lmfao. Like 99% of terrorism worldwide, but especially in the U.S., is and has been caused by right-wing pieces of shit and their fucking little nihilistic toddler-brained psychoses. But go off king, enjoy wasting time and resources chasing hallucinations, I guess.

Are there even in leftist terror cells in the US? All of the left-wing homicides as of late have been lone-wolf, and possibly not even particularly left-wing.

Have we had any "cool zone" organized property destruction or non-homicidal violence lately? Any pro-environment or pro-Palestine sabotage? Because I can't really think of much in the US in the past 3 years.

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 56 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No this is the legal cover for them to break into and blackbag a drag queen story time

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 20 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, yeah.

I was just hoping someone would have done something cool, since I haven't heard much cool stuff happening here in the US outside of like electoralism and relatively minor labor wins (and also some local stuff that isn't that different from what we were doing a decade ago).

[–] blunder@hexbear.net 14 points 2 months ago

I don't want to be a doomer but yeah this is just not a very cool time. Cool shit happens offline in communities tho!

[–] HorikBrun@kbin.earth 36 points 2 months ago
  1. There is no organized left in the US, you fucknut.
  2. If there was, there would not be a branch in Texas. You fucknut.
  3. If there WAS, being Texans, they would be heavily armed. You twatwaffle.

Hello fellow leftists, my name is Vladimir Ho Chi Minh Stalenin. I think I speak for all of us when I say we should kill everyone who doesn't speak Chinese. Now if you would please put your names and addresses into this spreadsheet so I can send you guides on how to make bombs to destroy capitalism.

[–] Euergetes@hexbear.net 27 points 2 months ago

coming to a town near you: "left" orgs populated entirely with different states' and agencies' undercovers but none of them are aware everyone else is a cop

[–] radio_free_asgarthr@hexbear.net 27 points 2 months ago

I almost think it would be useful and fun to put together a cointel for the cointel antifa cell, put up flyers and call yourselves Antifa cells but just operating entirely off of the memes about Adorno. "Since slamming a car door or fridge door is fascist, we need to have cells handing out stress balls and chamomile tea to angry drivers. Also, we are doing a drive for soft-close mechanisms on doors and drawers." Just confusing and wasting the time of cops would be a net good.

The problem is that they would still likely arrest people for being "Antifa" and do show trials none the less.

[–] Deadend@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago

He’s going to sell fraudulent shares of Antifa Inc.

[–] oscardejarjayes@hexbear.net 26 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Wow, that's crazy. I wonder if maybe the government's done something similar before, and never stopped.

This is more of the same, but worse, like many things that happen during the Trump admin.

[–] pastalicious@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago

The right wing has to make sure all populist / working class energy is diverted from a revolutionary bent to a civil war bent. "The radical left wants to kill you so we will make sure we kill them first." It will necessarily become true that the left is violent when violent self defense becomes increasingly necessary.

[–] godlessworm@hexbear.net 25 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

haha that’s something! anyway whats up fellow criminals? why dont we all “dunk on” this federali by listing all of the crimes we’ve done recently? particularly pertaining to the state of israel or immigration enforcement agents, who are just doing their jobs. for example, “my name is [your hexbear name] and i [description of antisemitic hate crime you recently did]”
