Jokes aside the only real reason I can fathom for the collectibles company to call their mother is because they had used it as the contact number in the registry. I would be surprised if this was some kind of intimidation tactic instead of just miscommunication - in the sense they probably just wanted to legally intimidate the itch's owner not their immediate family. Specifically the issue is that two letter TLDs are reserved exclusively for countries/governments. So far only one exception has been made to this rule, .su for the Soviet Union. So another exemption is certainly possible.
Meh. There's also .UK, which is not the country code for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland... that's GB.
We also have .EU, so this stuff is all pretty flexible in some sense.

2 Letter TLDs are always country codes (and ccTLDs are always 2 Letters long). So moving them to another category is technically possible, but unprecedented and improbable.

I've seen stores with walls of funko pops on display. I've never seen stores with gaps in their walls of funko pops, or evidence that they are moving many. Were their sales ever really that great to justify the amount of inventory they've produced?
My own interest has only gotten as far as "Oh hey, I recognize that character. Yep, they've got a bunch of Naruto characters, or at least generic funko pops with clothing like those characters wear. I wonder what else this store has."
