Oh hey. It's the keyboard used in the 2008 action movie Wanted.

[–] ApathyTree@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Movie any good? Worth finding?

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The story is a little bit curved and I don't want to spoiler all bullet points, but if you don't search for a far-reaching target or complicated woven meaning, I'm sure you can enjoy it.

[–] wetsoggybread@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

4 puns in one nice! Got any more in the chamber?

[–] hakunawazo@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Glad you appreciate my killer puns and they hit you on the spot. Maybe that's a suppressed ability of me. All I wanted was spreading digital joy. That's all a keyboard warrior could dream of.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you like incoherent scream-whining for a solid 20 minutes, followed by an incoherent plot about... weavers?... then go for it

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Is the plot stupid? Yes.

Is the plot incoherent? Only if you didn't actually pay attention or have brain damage. It is incredibly simple, stupid, and rather cliched.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If you like action movies, yes.

[–] musicalphysics@discuss.online 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

The whole curving bullets thing is one of the dumber plots in action movies.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

They don't even explain the crazy steampunk sniper rifle that fires a morphing bullet.

[–] musicalphysics@discuss.online 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I’ve wondered for some time how they got the actors they did for that movie. Was it blackmail? I mean, if they genuinely had the money to get top actors then why didn’t they use that money to get a real writer?

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 1 points 2 days ago

Either they wanted to do it, or they had some prior contractual obligation would be my guess. I bet that was a fun one to work on. Most stupid movies, to me, seem like they would be more fun to act in than to watch. 🤣

How many 'U' keys do you need??

[–] haywire7@lemmy.world 27 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Replace the second U with an S and it gains a lot of functionality.

If you insist..

[–] db2@lemmy.world 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Who's going to write "fuck yos" it doesn't even make sense.

/s in case it isn't obvious

[–] haywire7@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Say it with a New York accent, problem solved!

[–] db2@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

I'm typin here!

[–] dsilverz@catodon.rocks 11 points 3 days ago

Ergonomics is important, so I present you my quick prototype of a QWERTY version:

!lemmyshitpost@lemmy.world

Screenshot of Sketchbook app featuring my doodle of a qwerty-like keyboard with just the keys Y, U, O, enter, F, K, C and spacebar. The hidden layers revealed by Sketchbook's GUI disclose my initial attempt to make a precise key grid for all QWERTY keys.

[–] Armand1@lemmy.world 18 points 3 days ago (4 children)

What's the longest single word your can type with that keyboard? Best I can do is "yucky".

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 17 points 3 days ago

I'm integrating it into my lexicon as we speak, you fuckyfuck

[–] 0ops@piefed.zip 18 points 3 days ago

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU...

[–] db2@lemmy.world 11 points 3 days ago (1 children)

cookoff

No caps because no shift.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)
  1. You win, I think. That definitely seems to be an accepted spelling.
  2. Pretty sure this particular keyboard is gonna be only caps. One of my keyboards even does this with numlock. It is on by defualt, has no numlock key, and if I plug in a second or use software to turn it off, the keyboard turns it back on like a useless machine.
[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

i have a crappy dell wireless keyboard here that doesn't have a NUMLOCK. in some linux distributions or environments it defaults OFF, and i have to rig the DE or numlockx to enable it at login. i only keep it around because it's a kb+mouse set that shares one dongle.. it's handy to move from pc to pc when i need to.

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Mine was made for a chemical analyzer for medical and drug testing (it has a METH key, among others!), and firmware-wise the customization was sort of a hack. Keeping numlock on was necessary to make it work how they intended.

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 4 points 3 days ago

Is "fuckoff" one word? As in, "You're a real ... "

[–] onnekas@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago

A single "fuck you" button would be an innovative improvement.

Not sure if science is ready yet to accomplish such a task!

[–] zod000@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

Hah, classic

[–] M137@lemmy.today 4 points 3 days ago

But you wouldn't be able to write "as per my last email"...

[–] Ramsesder13te@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago

I would just need a off key...

[–] ceenote@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (1 children)

With the power of macros, we can maintain the same functionality while reducing the form factor to a single key!

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Wait, are all the macros just pressing the same key different numbers of times?

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No need. It knows what the next letter is at any given time. In fact, we can just type out the whole phrase with one key press!

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Of course, predictive text macro. What could possible go wrong?

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

It's typing out "fuck you" every time, so not exactly a demanding prediction...

[–] NaibofTabr@infosec.pub 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

But what if I want to type other fuck-based phrases?

[–] bus_factor@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

This macro predicts that you don't.

[–] adarza@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

ahk macro script that replaces every keypress of any key.

[–] switch@feddit.org 8 points 3 days ago

Ahhh, the legendary IBM Model F!

[–] AnimalsDream@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 days ago

This makes me wonder how we can take a standard qwerty keyboard, and turn it into a layout with as many expletives as possible?

[–] PostProcess@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

'Nobody got fired for buying IBM...' '... hold my beer.'

[–] pitaya@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 days ago

No caps lock?

[–] Sergio@piefed.social 2 points 3 days ago

Missing an exclamation mark.
