If you are here asking: "Is this a science meme?"

Probably, yes. We use the Dawkins definition of meme: a replicating idea, not just an image macro with a fact on it. A good post here doesn't need to teach you something. It needs to make you ask something: who, what, where, when, and especially why or how.

Science isn't a filing cabinet of facts, it's a conversation. For example, a photo of an eel or other localized wildlife counts because most people never see one, and wonder is the first step of inquiry. A car meme counts if it makes you curious about what's under the bonnet. If you want to talk about something you noticed in the world, chances are someone else wants to talk about it too.

We moderate for vibe, not category. Pruning is light, especially where a post creates interesting discussion. Experimenting is encouraged.

See the pinned paper on Shitposting as Public Pedagogy if you want the academic case for why this works.

Fyi

Wd40 isnt a lubricant. It's a cleaner. It works for a very short time as a lubricant.

Most people do think it's a lubricant, mostly because wd40 marketing plus it will technically lubricate in the short term. And sometimes cleaning will fix the problem.

A simple 3-in-1 oil will last. It's an actual high viscosity lubricant.

Wouldn't it be "Gosh dang it"? Hank is a good Christian boy, he doesn't take the Lord's name in vain.

I made a song a few years ago called Jam It Bobby:

https://open.spotify.com/track/2j80yFoqk0Y65mrSqWYMh2

In it, I found a clip of Hank saying "Damn it, Bobby", and it's featured prominently in the song. I think it's one of the few times he says damn.

Song is available on all streaming services as well! ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

"Got dangit" was how i usually heard it

That's not what taking the lord's name in vain means.

Sure. And if Christians actually studied the Bible they'd know that. But they don't.

[–] philipp_@discuss.tchncs.de 11 points 1 day ago

But Hank doesn't know that.

Few "good Christians" know what it actually means.
