'Taigyaku Jiken', a 1989 piece by Iri and Toshi Maruki, was inspired by the High Treason Incident of 1910

Kōtoku Incident (幸徳事件, Kōtoku Jiken), was a socialist-anarchist plot to assassinate the Japanese Emperor Meiji in 1910, leading to a mass arrest of leftists, as well as the execution of 12 alleged conspirators in 1911.

Uchiyama Gudō, born on this day in 1874, was a socialist Buddhist priest who opposed Japanese imperialism, oligarchic land ownership, and the rule of the Emperor. He was executed by the state in 1911 during the "High Treason Incident".

Gudō was ordained as a Soto Zen priest in 1897. In 1904, he became the abbot of Rinsenji temple in a poor area of a rural region of the Hakone Mountains. Village tradition states that every autumn Gudō would invite poor villagers to divide the harvest from the temple's only two trees equally among themselves.

Gudō was a self-identified socialist and outspoken advocate for redistributive land reform, overturning the Meiji emperor system, encouraging conscripts to desert en masse, and advancing democratic rights for all. He also criticized Zen leaders who claimed that low social position was justified by karma.

One of Gudō's most widely read and circulated works was a scathing denunciation of the Imperial Japanese government. Contradicting official state doctrine, he argued that the Emperors of the Imperial family were neither divine nor the destined rulers of Japan, and that their ancestors "came forth from a corner of Kyushu, killing and robbing people as they did. They then destroyed their fellow thieves."

Due to the popularity of Gudō's subversive publications, he was arrested in May 1909 and charged with violating press and publication laws. When police uncovered an alleged socialist plot to assassinate the Emperor (known as the "High Treason Incident"), Gudō was accused of being a co-conspirator.

In 1911, he, along with eleven other socialists, were convicted and executed. In July 1909, before Gudō's conviction, officials of the Sōtō Zen sect revoked Gudō'sabbotship.

"When I began reading the Heimin Shimbun at that time [1904], I realized that its principles were identical with my own and therefore I became an anarcho-socialist."

Uchiyama Gudō

I put my dog down earlier today. She is dead.

I feel weirdly calm. I cried a bit and now I just feel kind of normal.

Oh man Cowbee is one of those copy paste robots with dozens of alts. One message to them means you’re dogpiled.

Nah, I'm just a better poster. The only 3 accounts I have are all named Cowbee, and only on .ml, grad, and bear.

Bonus: a certain history major calls Nazis "democratic socialists," and seems to still be stalking my accounts even after getting Rimu to ban me so they wouldn't see my comments anymore. Pretty silly behavior, very terminally online.

So if you type “pencil lead” into a scholarly search engine, you will find hundreds of peer reviewed articles by Iranian researcher for how to pretreat pencil leads to create electrodes and analytical chemistry components. Why? Because apparently “carbon fiber” has been under strict embargo since 2009.

decided i'm gonna get in on the "manually adding a signature to all my posts" game

A communist should be able to change a diaper, follow a trail, tend a farm, raise cattle, criticize a political manifesto, drive stick, teach a child, play an instrument, resolve disputes, organize a union, bind a wound, care for the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, read a map, mend a garment, gather mushrooms, hack a computer, and cook a tasty meal. Specialization is for the bourgeoisie.

I have now watched a wechat yuri ad for a toothbrush and now a yaoi ad for a camping stove it is extremely effective advertising

From the comments on the ad:

看完我只是想知道结果, 你俩在一起了吗?不在一起不买[捂脸]

I want to know how this ends, are you two together? If you're not, then I'm not buying your stove

Really stepped out of my comfort zone and went out after work with some coworkers (was fun! they seem cool). After hanging out with them for like 3 hours, I'm really starting to think I might be autistic lmao. Just so much shit I wasn't even aware that I wasn't picking up on, and then they say it and I think oh that makes sense actually...

me: just chilling, having a good time, watching video while i eat my dinner super late

video creator: haha this guy's a fucking loser, his voice is so nasally!*

me: GUHHHH oooaaaaaaauhhh

*paraphrased ofc

::: spoiler . i hate how nasally my voice is, and ive had a lot of people, both friends and online strangers, make fun of me by clearly pinching their noses and repeating back what i just said. idk i try not to feel too bad because like the person in the video being made fun of is a vile loser and i know im nothing like that but idk still fucks with my head sometimes, i already feel like others see me as an annoying person even without hearing my voice so this just feeds into that insecurity

Average low rank dota:

Centaur: Out of mana 80% of the time

Shadow Shaman: Doesn't know he can micro his wards

Sniper: playing on a laptop touchpad

Pudge: Hooks people at level 1 and then does absolutely nothing (the Pudge classic)

Rubick: steals the hook, hooks Pudge, dies to Pudge

Treant: Has an amazing lane, lags and dies once, immediately smashes his mouse at mach 10 into the wall out of pure, unfiltered rage

Void: Amazing 4 man chrono (3 of them are teammates)

Invoker: Obviously a smurf, still loses

Bounty hunter: Just wants this godforsaken game to end

Wraith King: Types "EZ" after a 93 min game

Most important thing is everyone enjoy the game😂

A weird thing I noticed this morning:

I've lived in an area with a heavy train presence my whole life. Freight trains have been an extremely common sight for me over the years. This morning I saw my first freight train that was straight up half full or less. Just car after car with nothing on them. In the past they would be stacked 2 high with semi trailers but a huge chunk of the train was just empty cars. It was eerie. It feels like a portent of things to come.

Internet thing that has grinder my gears since 2004: people who dont understand you can state your opinion as a declaration. You can just say 'thing is bad' you arent acting like your opinion is factual by not instead saying 'I think thing is bad'. What can be measured objectively and what is subjective in generally pretty evident, like if youre talking about media, you are in a mainly subjective zone and what is factually incorrect can be easily demonstrated. Someone saying Darth Vader has a purple lightsaber for example is factually incorrect. Someone saying Darth Vader has too many buttons on him and it ruins the movie is just them stating their opinion assertively. It is up to the reader to have 4th grade reading comprehension and tell the difference themselves. "Well that's your opinion man' as an argument has been a plague on the internet at least since I first logged on and it needs to stop. All posts like this should be deleted from by the government and the poster should be heavily fined. Its being pedantic and wrong at the same time which is the most annoying thing ever

I love how despite our uni sending out multiple emails in the past pretending to cut off connections to the occupation, student protests still pop up because as you might have figured, the uni still collaborates.

Like these mfs just do not stop (the uni). Even this late in to the whole thing and despite making some concessions before.
