Yeah it's full blown Linux. You get an actual PC, like even the Steam Deck is a complete PC inside. The only difference is it boots into 'gaming mode' which is Steam Big Picture with a couple of background processes turned off.

So,it means you're not locked into anything like a console. You can play games from other launchers, emulators, and use it as a regular computer.
