The AI in Motorstorm is meant to learn your play style and respond to you. They're meant to work pretty well through the RPC3 emulator now

Thank you. This is good knowledge if I come across any other bios locked devices

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 3 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Refreshed an old laptop by formatting the drive and reinstalling fedora. Secureboot is on and locked in the bios but it all installed fine? It did have a windows partition, even if it doesn't work. So maybe secureboot only fucks with things if windows is on there? But I couldn't install Bazzite on my other laptop until secureboot was turned off, and that was a clean install

Plus all the engagement farming comments of people asking 'who listening in 2025?'

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 2 points 11 hours ago

Or would it be an asymmetric vs game like Dead By Daylight where you have your Payday style operators vs one guy in the vents without shoes

Since people here are into vtubers make sure you check out Riona from Flow Glow. There's heavy speculation she was in an actual idol group before joining so that's why she can sing and dance so well. She also has one of the most powerful sneezes in streaming

Apparently they had Santa and the Grinch visit which he found quite scary but he's still going on about it. I want to make sure he's not being strapped into a highchair for 8 hours like I've read about

[–] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 3 points 16 hours ago

No but yesterday I returned a missed call who said they were returning my missed call. I said I didn't call them so I didn't know what was going on. Then I realised I got my colours around the wrong way in my phone's UI and I DID call then first, but because it went straight to voicemail I forgot

It's good to have some days off where I can relax without also looking after the kids. One of the kids has been saying childcare is scary though, I've been trying to get out of them whether it's just a bit of a regression or if something's going on.

We're heading up to see my grandfather tomorrow for Christmas. He's at an aged care facility closer to home so it's easier to go see him now. The whole family is coming so this might be the new meetup point whilst he's still there.

And I'm going to look at movies at a local independent cinema for new year's day when the session times are up. We watched the new Wallace and Gromit there this year, it would be nice to make it a tradition if there's something good on next year as well

I think vtubers aren't completely unique from a labour perspective. There have been arrangements of somewhat independent contractors in entertainment previously, even having the IP of the character isn't too far removed from what has been done in the past. But I think companies are taking advantage of the main talent base being young women who are mostly into idol culture wanting to be part of that in some form.

Despite the issues, it's good to see collapsing companies letting talent keep their IP and audience. It's good to see these vtubers that have done the work building their following don't need to start again under a new character.

Some sort of organising is important because there's so much behind the scenes we don't see like talent doing dance and singing lessons, recording, preparing for streams. And you often hear of talent putting their own money behind projects like pretty much every song Marine has put out.

A classic case is Gura, who was unhappy for the longest time because Cover had her doing all this sponsored stuff that she never actually had any time to stream and left as a result, despite being the biggest EN vtuber.

It would be great to see them properly recognised by some guild or Union as that would probably be quicker and better organised than talents trying to form something themselves

I just watched her stream because it was getting recommended to me and this is huge. So glad to have her back, she's been a great watch

Yeah, you could say I'm pretty down with the vtubers. I'll look her up as there's been a bit of stuff going on in the vtuber world with graduations and companies closing

Those kids work hard on the posts in this comm

I boot up my Windows partition to be met with fucking Adobe Acrobat trying to sell me a paid plan. I need to dismiss that pop-up within Acrobat before I can close the whole thing and it looks like Adobe are pumping their content marketing into Acrobat itself.

Who is going to open a PDF then be like, "Okay, I guess I'll see what Hasan Minhaj has to say about fucking PDFs." I would need to be super bored at work to do that.

Fuck this shitty company and their bullshit bloated program. Sumatra all the way, the only reason I keep Acrobat around is to sign the occasional PDF

I saw a video essay saying this is good. You don't need to watch it, it's free. And it feels like this game was made for some people here

I'm meeting this rich guy's daughter and taking her to his yacht. I don't want to look underdressed

Good to see Birdgame Studios are saying no to AI in their beloved Bird Game series

Posting here because I don't know any other decent communities to ask.

I'm running Mint on a fairly beefy PC that was top spec in 2022. I started with Windows then added another SSD for Linux. I went with Mint but overall I've found games to be a bit lackluster on here.

The main one is Elden Ring: Nightreign. It runs buttery smooth on Windows, but on the same PC using Linux it gets a little choppy and almost unplayable if I'm in a round with others.

I've noticed other issues like Arc Raiders is meant to work well on Linux but was an unplayable mess for me.

I'm just doing everything through Steam so nothing weird or hacky going on, I have a laptop with Bazzite I use to get games from Myabandonware running and it has been fine by comparison.

Are there any extra programs or dependencies I should download? Or should I just switch to Bazzite given I'm gaming and running a Nvidia card? I got into Linux after building this PC so I didn't know AMD was better for Linux at the time. Building this PC showed me how to install an OS on a computer so it was the start of the rabbithole for me in a way.

I know there isn't a lot of details on specs here, but I'm more wondering if there's anything more I should do on a non-gaming focused distro or if it's easier to just switch.

Also I'm not running any compatibility for Nightreign at the moment. I've tried diffferent Proton variations and it hasn't made a difference.
