Cuban Revolution 67th Anniversary- Novo General Megathread for the 1st-7th of January 2026

On this day in 1959, U.S.-backed Cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista fled the country following the victory of Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement (M-26-7) at the Battle of Santa Clara, marking the successful conclusion of the Cuban Revolution.
The 26th of July Movement takes its name from the date of with a failed attack on the Moncada Barracks in 1953, however, the movement bearing this name was not formally organized until the attackers were released from prison in 1955. Public resistance continued sporadically until November 1956, when 80 members of the M-26-7 returned from exile.
Soon after landing on the island, a separate revolutionary group, the "Directorio Revoluncionari Estudiantil" (DRE), unsuccessfully attempted an attack on the Presidential Palace in Havana.
Throughout 1957, armed resistance from groups such as the DRE and M-26-7 would escalate. After a failed offensive by the government against rebels in the summer of 1958, the rebels launched a major counter-offensive.
On December 28th, 1958, after a fraudulent election in favor of Batista, revolutionary forces reached the city of Santa Clara. Seizing equipment from an armored train intended to transport government reinforcements, the rebels quickly captured the city, prompting Batista to panic and flee to the Dominican Republic with a personal fortune of more than $300 million.
In the following days, revolutionary forces entered Havana with no resistance, and Castro established a provisional government. The 26th of July Movement later reformed along Marxist–Leninist lines, becoming the Communist Party of Cuba in October 1965.
Batista later settled in fascist Spain, dying there in 1973 at the age of 72.

Me and my pal at work, who ive spent 30 hours a week with for the last 4 years...so we have gotten very attuned to each other's bits will occasionally call each other by the wrong name for a day, and because no ine else is named Marcus or whatever we can figure it out. Sometimes we get the whole kitchen in it and try to gaslight front of house
If Friday goes well then I just need another thing to go well and then one thing after that and then ill be home free for a while

HG rx78 is clearly meant to be a first gunpla and not for a veteran like myself who has already done TWO. Ive also done hard mode models with glue and paint so gunpla was already easy mode (which is fine, hard mode models are stressful to a point, these are relaxing) but this thing is a cinch, except for when I put a panel on backwards and didnt notice until I compared left and right arms and had to reassemble. Everything else has been smooth sailing, just gotta build the crotch and weapons and it'll be done. Got some panel liner coming in the mail so that'll be fun. I lost part of the Zeta's face do I gotta order a runner to get that fixed up. Ironically I was trying to glue it to the face cause it was loose and then it got equally stuck to my tweezers and got flung
My friend bought a new phone that boasts a 100x zoom camera but when you try to use it it just gives you an AI guess of what you're looking at lol

I mean I was down bad for over a week. I'd get only the magnet and last 8 minutes in the final swarm. Or I'd get the pot and then die and my heart would sink. I tried all sorts of builds. I wanted to quit so bad. But then I got two legendary shady dudes during stage 2 and simply piloted it carefully and pressed the blood magic button whenever it came up for a cool, sweet victory

Trying to get my social security card replaced and the US login gov site isn't finding me in their government or proprietary records, trying every single possibility and it doesn't work.

social insecurity system where a name misspelling condems you to an eternal loophole of going back and forth between the social security office and the dmv before someone decides to let you exist
I love not being able to schedule an appointment either because I didn't verify I existed yet to their buggy ass site (which requires you to either submit a selfie (didn't work) or go to the post office. Luckily there's a SS (pun intended) office a little farther than the closest one to me that should be less busy with parking.
