I... I did it... I actually hated something so hard I destroyed it. I kept telling myself to let things pass and keep my peace but this... This changes everything.

Isn't manifestation a form of liberalism?

[–] KuroXppi@hexbear.net 19 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, if you keep thinking that way

[–] gayspacemarxist@hexbear.net 3 points 6 hours ago

I'll always be a liberal skeleton-motorcycle

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 27 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

I was confused about this because I could've sworn Disney just put a huge investment into them and gave them all their characters.

So did that deal never complete then?

[–] fox@hexbear.net 32 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Most of openAI's deals are just announcements of intentions to proceed to negotiations of investments of up to $X and have no substance

[–] SeitanicMechanic@hexbear.net 21 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

Market manipulation with zero legal consequences.

Skittles cat exploding into a pink fart cloud from a unicorn will be looked upon fondly by my children.

[–] thefunkycomitatus@hexbear.net 21 points 11 hours ago

So many babies are going to get hurt working on cars now that there will be no dogs to save them. And no more cats fighting off bears wandering onto porches.

[–] culpritus@hexbear.net 24 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

So does the IRGC get credit for this kill?

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 14 points 10 hours ago

[–] BountifulEggnog@hexbear.net 35 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

yup, can't be a good sign for them. This was their second biggest project. Video gen costs a shit ton of money to run but still.

if they have to care about money enough to turn sora off, the rest of the business model (such as it is) is equally doomed

That can't be good for the hype-based economy

[–] CloutAtlas@hexbear.net 5 points 9 hours ago

They got that Department of War money now

[–] microfiche@hexbear.net 32 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

Waiting for the WSJ article that points out how this is our faults for not using it enough or smth.

This might weirdly be one of the only examples of a service that looses more money the more people actually use it. Err scratch that, probably half of the tech services are losers I guess, but this is an extreme example of a loser haha.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 9 points 11 hours ago

Costs OpenAI about $5 per 15 seconds of video generated

[–] Dr_Pepper@hexbear.net 18 points 12 hours ago

'you SELFISH consumers couldn't just be happy using the yearly energy expenditure of an entire family to generate 10 seconds of a dog farting and flying across the Grand Canyon. You make me SICK! '

[–] FnordPrefect@hexbear.net 36 points 14 hours ago

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 26 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

What will I do now that there will no longer be videos of cats starting up a jug band or deer bouncing on a trampoline?

[–] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 26 points 13 hours ago (2 children)

No more ladies throwing rocks at glass bridges.

[–] Flyberius@hexbear.net 12 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

This is crazy. In this thread I am seeing so many examples of videos being generated that basically already existed for real!!?!?! Deers on trampolines, cats fighting bears, people smashing glass bridges. Were the successful videos from Sora just rehashes of already existing videos on the internet? Is the technology that creatively bankrupt?

P.S. On wechat I get a lot of fruit people soap dramas, where some lemon lady gets pregnant, but the baby ends up being a pineapple and the orange man husband is furious because she clearly slept with a non-citrus man, and so he confronts her boss, a pineapple, who then tells him to calm down because actually lemon lady planned all of this and she is actually evil. And I wonder, who in the fuck is generating these? Is it a four year old men's rights activist? Christ on a bike, AI is a blight

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 19 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Gonna have to learn how to paint whimsical scenes.

[–] Ilixtze@lemmy.ml 28 points 14 hours ago

Does this mean that nobody wanted to give them the 17.5% pa loan?
