/c/TenForward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. Use spoiler tags in comments, and NSFW checkbox for posts.
This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

He didn't realise that he could just ask. And being a good boy he didn't want to appear pushy.

Quark went ahead and filed that complaint about his anti-Ferengi remarks just before Voyager went MIA. Janeway takes bigotry very seriously.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Funny cos I had a theory that Janeway was actually a bit MAGA and thought he was Mexican.

[–] usernamefactory@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 weeks ago

She can tolerate anything except bigots and Mexicans.

[–] SincerityIsCool@lemmy.ca 21 points 2 weeks ago

He didn't commit enough war crimes (lacks leadership mindset)

[–] SatyrSack@quokk.au 18 points 2 weeks ago

Garrett Wang repeatedly turned down Rick Berman's sexual advances

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 16 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Simply not enough pips on board the ship.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 17 points 2 weeks ago

She likes to save those replicator rations for important things. Like coffee.

[–] Thebeardedsinglemalt@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

DEI was banned so only white dudes, and people who banged the captain, got promoted.

[–] SatyrSack@quokk.au 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Putting Tuvok's promotion in a whole new light

Janeway smiles admirably at Tuvok while applying an additional pip to his collar, Star Trek: Voyager S4E5 "Revulsion"

[–] Englishgrinn@lemmy.ca 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No one under him is qualified for bridge crew. Every single person not named in the credits on Voyager is completely incompetent. Promote Kim and you have to promote crewman Bushnell who thinks Warp drive opens a portal to hell everytime, smells awful and calls all women "females".

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 1 points 2 weeks ago

He must have learned warp theory from lt. broccoli

[–] DrSleepless@lemmy.world 11 points 2 weeks ago

Sometimes you have an employee that is so good at their job you never want to replace them

[–] Brkdncr@lemmy.world 10 points 2 weeks ago

If you promote him then he’s just going to take the title and leave for more money.

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 9 points 2 weeks ago

They needed to keep at least ONE ensign around, and all the others got promoted or died.

[–] chellewalker@lemmy.ca 8 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He had more romantic chemistry with Seven than Janeway was willing to tolerate.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 9 points 2 weeks ago

"You fucked my pet Borg you little shit"

[–] randamumaki@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

He secretly works for Starfleet's Internal Affairs and uses his position to spy on Janeway et al.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 6 points 2 weeks ago

Its the Star Trek we need.

[–] BillyClark@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

More likely he's one of those temporal cops. He brainwashed Janeway to downplay the causality problems from the final season because he couldn't let her say what really happened.

[–] helpImTrappedOnline@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

Tom told Janeway it'd be funny if the EMH out ranked him while giving her a fresh pot of coffee.

[–] Ophioparma@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He was promoted but Tom always hid the pins. Harry was commander in season four but nobody knew.

[–] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

Ships need ensigns to run, at least one. He was the One.

[–] ProgrammingSocks@pawb.social 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He put cream into the Captain's coffee once and she never forgave him.

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago

COFFEE. BLACK.

[–] theuniqueone@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

Because of legal complications of being from a duplicate voyager post "Deadlock" he couldn't be promoted further than ensign.

[–] PlasticExistence@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

The unions in Star Fleet are actually controlled by the Dominion, and as such they are ineffectual by design. Harry doesn’t know this, of course

[–] call_me_xale@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hey, OP said "wrong answers"

[–] PlasticExistence@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We all know it’s actually the Tal Shiar

[–] jobbies@lemmy.zip 4 points 2 weeks ago

Is that Peter Theil's drag name?

At the bar celebrating his new commission aboard Voyager he met an ensign named Mariner.

[–] HelluvaKick@lemmy.world 5 points 2 weeks ago

No virgin lieutenants allowed in Starfleet

[–] webghost0101@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

He was bad at his job and did nothing to deserve an extra pip.

/s because my conscious can’t handle stating this otherwise.

[–] kieron115@startrek.website 4 points 2 weeks ago

Janeway actually did try to promote him, but he overslept and missed the promotion ceremony.

[–] mech@feddit.org 4 points 2 weeks ago

He wasn't very good at licking.

[–] Australis13@fedia.io 4 points 2 weeks ago

Pips can't be replicated and Voyager only had a limited supply of spares. Janeway set aside the only spare pip for the bridge crew for Tuvok's eventual promotion.

[–] MadMadBunny@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Janeway simply forgot to.

Oh wait, you said wrong answers…

[–] TomMasz@piefed.social 4 points 2 weeks ago

His first name isn't really Harry, it's Hitler. Once Starfleet learned the truth, it realized it could never promote him for fear the secret would come out.

[–] GenesisClimber@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Because he didn't go Transwarp, turn into a space salamander and have squigglings with the Captain?

[–] YaksDC@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 weeks ago

There was one time before they even got into the Delta quadrant that Kim took the last pot of coffee and didn't make more.

[–] PodPerson@lemmy.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago

Shortly after he was hired , he said he had always looked up to Captain Picard. That never sat right with her.

[–] CCMan1701A@startrek.website 3 points 2 weeks ago

The promotion pip was continuously traded for coffee rations

[–] essell@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Because he was an experimental ensign.

Starfleet had deliberately trained him wrong, as a joke.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 2 points 2 weeks ago

Every time you die, or are replaced by something like an alternate universe duplicate, your seniority resets

[–] TotallyNotSpezUpload@startrek.website 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Janeway hates Asian people because there was always one during her cadet years at the Academy who kept scoring slightly better than her during exams.
