I was thinking last night, I'm over draft age, but if this goes the way of uKKKraine, they're going to be grabbing 40-somethings off the street to die for pissrael.

Legit one of the few good things Trump did (for selfish/cowardly reasons) was dodge the draft, and libs mock him for it (and then tell us how they're so anti-war)

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 17 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Ah but if he had been drafted he might have been killed, which would have been even better.

have you considered the ted cruz presidency and how unfunny it would have been by comparison

[–] barrbaric@hexbear.net 14 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Pretty sure Cruz loses to planet-hillary, no way he gets the cult followers Trump did. Even other republican senators hate him.

[–] CarmineCatboy2@hexbear.net 5 points 12 hours ago

i had not considered the Hillary Factor

[–] rootsbreadandmakka@hexbear.net 5 points 11 hours ago

Idk depends why they’re mocking him. Mocking him for not wanting to go to war is dumb, but mocking him for dodging the draft while he’s sending others off to war (or if he ends up instituting the draft) is fine since he’s being mocked for the hypocrisy. Not like trump is some principled anti imperialist and he’s being mocked for that position.

there's like a million miles between active duty troops being deployed and forced conscription of the general populace. And the comparison US/Ukraine is frankly completly context free

a million miles

2 weeks until the draft, I’d say 4 weeks until Nuclear collapse?

Honestly think a draft is a likelihood, and a nuke isn’t off the table. These people are fucking nuts

Military brass would rather lose than reinstate the draft.

An IRGC Solder may shoot at you. A draftee will roll a grenade under your tent while you sleep.

As a layman... I dont think the USA would do a draft until we are talking about an existential war that would lead to the end of the Empire.

[–] EndlessNightmare@reddthat.com 11 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Netanyahu would rather draft American soldiers than lose

[–] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 6 points 11 hours ago

This is the only reason I could see a draft happening

[–] CthulhusIntern@hexbear.net 4 points 11 hours ago

At some point, Netanyahu is going to learn who ACTUALLY calls the shots.

Especially with this war. A large percentage of the population, especially under 30, despises Israel and the administration basically admitted that this war is for them. MAGA cattle are the only people you can somewhat trust to not immediately turn their guns on you in this conflict.

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 11 points 13 hours ago

There is zero chance of a draft

[–] Caitycat@hexbear.net 9 points 12 hours ago

I think the current administration is stupid enough that a draft wouldn't be off the table, but wow could you imagine. Fragging rates the likes that have never been seen before.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 16 points 12 hours ago

Imagine US troops in Ukraine conditions.

That is what a deployment will become.

I'm trans so they'll throw me in a concentration camp instead

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 22 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

My apartment isn't big enough but i can have a couple draft dodgers sleep on the floor and couch

[–] kristina@hexbear.net 22 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (2 children)

Same we already help homeless trans people but will gladly help draft dodgers under the table, would be floor sleeping tho

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 3 points 12 hours ago

Will help their backs at least

[–] PaulSmackage@hexbear.net 4 points 12 hours ago

If any draft dodgers find themselves in the void where I am, there's a decent couch, a spare room, and a bbq that's free to use.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 25 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (1 children)

I'm old so they'll probably just make me do forced labor in a clandestine drone workshop

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 20 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Just replace the warheads with duds, and you are absolved of any moral responsibility.

[–] Ram_The_Manparts@hexbear.net 13 points 14 hours ago

Drone yourself and drone everyone around you partiotism

[–] KnilAdlez@hexbear.net 15 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Well, that's one solution to the unemployment issue I suppose

[–] SevenSkalls@hexbear.net 16 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

It's a great example of how war is one big way capitalism can deal with its own contradictions. You can remove excess product due to overproduction, create new markets from all the destruction, remove some of the excess reserve army of labor so they don't revolt at home, etc.

It's an awful, horrible way to deal with these contradictions of course and another reason socialism is way better.
