Pro gamer move: anyone who remotely tries, shows up mostly on time, and doesn’t berate customers is a top employee at McDonald’s. As long as you put any effort in it’s really hard to replace you. While not unfireable, it would be very hard to find a replacement as good as you.

True of many minimum wage jobs tbh. Show up on time, relatively sober, and give half a shit and you're a star employee. Depending on how the company is organized and how cool your immediate managers are you can get away with murder so long as you do your job most of the time

I just did this at nicer places and now im a chef. I kinda lucked/lied my way in tho

And for night shift managers, add "doesn't sleep with teenage subordinates" to that list.

Did you call him on his deathbed, and say "You still think it was a good idea to make me come in to work with the flu?"

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 20 points 1 month ago

Call him and be like "we're gonna need you to come in today"

Both victims of the same system, but a few dimes apart.

I frequently reflect on how lucky I am to be able to tell shitty managers "Ok then, fire me or shut up" which I have done many times

I got threatened with the same thing when I worked at Sonic. I had to prep and bag food while dripping with mucus and having diarrhea.
