What's sad is, they already essentially do this with us.

Just to elaborate for the folks I've run into who doubt and downplay the worst of it - even if you remove the more lurid reports, the simple fact of "recruitment" for such a hideous enterprise, what accomplishing that requires - that is hunting humans for sport.

Extending globally to identify and traffick vulnerable young people, targets meeting the right criteria to make it all "work".

No metaphors are needed, nor any reliance on anything remotely controversial in the files. Hunting humans for sport is exactly, dead on correct.

There is a very thin line between “Safe inside your bunker” and “Trapped inside your bunker”. The people on the outside dictate how that plays out.

I was thinking it'd be a real shame if someone waited for them to go inside and then welded the gates closed.

Walls work both ways. Sieges are back on the menu boys!

But can they really trust their guards? What guard wouldn't want to have the nickname the kingslayer?

[–] artifex@piefed.social 20 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

That’s why they’ll fit their guards with death collars to prevent them from getting ideas.

[–] how_we_burned@lemmy.zip 13 points 3 weeks ago (5 children)

Where do you buy death collars from?

Castles often weren't conquered by forcefully breaking through the walls but rather by keeping them under the siege until their inhabitants either surrender or die.

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They are very small, and we have a LOT of raw sewage, and some very powerful pumps.

Won't take long.

You need to be more alarmed about this.

Conservatives (and the rich tend to side with conservatives) have no imagination and project their own intentions on others.

I cannot possibly stress this enough:

IF THEY THINK WE'RE GOING TO VIOLENTLY ATTACK THEM, IT'S SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE THEY ARE PREPARING TO ATTACK US THEMSELVES.

They have THOROUGHLY demonstrated that they can't imagine anyone wanting to do anything but that which they themselves want to do, are preparing to do, or are ALREADY DOING.

Mark my words:

The rich are preparing to exterminate us all.

[–] Soup@lemmy.world 12 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

No, not exterminate, just control with even further violence. The rich are stupid and useless, but they do know that they need bodies to do their work for them, even if they’ll never admit it.

This is, honestly, much worse because complacent people won’t fight back nearly as hard.

They don't care about extermination. Lol. How do you exploit the dead?

They want you alive. And supple to their desires.

Fine. Trap them in their palaces. Turn them into tombs.

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 30 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Do they not realize the ones installing their security devices are also the same people they are trying to protect against?

If you're so afraid of the proles maybe you should give up a fair share of your slice.

Seems a lot simpler to just not be a greedy POS.

Well, contrary to their self-perception, they're not always the sharpest spoons in the forest. You don't have to be when you can afford to pay more competent people to take care of literally everything for you 🤷

Air supply. You can find the intake with those microphone cameras or just old school smoke.

The Hamptons are a low lying area. You never want to be defending a low lying area.

Anyone have stocked up on siege weapons?

[–] tiredofsametab@fedia.io 14 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I think drones are the new siege weapons.

I saw some really neat YouTube videos about trebuchet. They don't seem that complex.

Back? wait... what did you think US suburbs were designed for then?

[–] mika_mika@lemmy.world 16 points 3 weeks ago

I get the analogy, but these are literal moats of water surrounding an owners land we are talking about.

it's almost like they're realizing they live on the same planet as all the poors

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

It’s us poors that need to realize how proximate we really are to the parasitic class.

These armed guards have the ability to do humanity a great service. I hope at least one of them finds their conscience.

if only, and stay with me here, if only there was some contraption invented since we last had moats around castle, i don't know, something that can fly in the air and carry, oh i don't know, bags of shit over these moats and into the castles, maybe even more of it at the same time like swarms of bees, maybe we could even name it after them like bee, or worker, or drone, or something. that would be something, I tell ya!
