Drones with explosives go vrrrr.

[–] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works 22 points 3 hours ago

Fine. Trap them in their palaces. Turn them into tombs.

[–] DarkSpectrum@lemmy.world 5 points 2 hours ago

eventually those with money and power could have AI controlled, shoot on site, robot and drone security systems wherever they want. all legalised by the corrupt government.

Castles often weren't conquered by forcefully breaking through the walls but rather by keeping them under the siege until their inhabitants either surrender or die.

Seems a lot simpler to just not be a greedy POS.

Well, contrary to their self-perception, they're not always the sharpest spoons in the forest. You don't have to be when you can afford to pay more competent people to take care of literally everything for you 🤷

[–] gergolippai@lemmy.world 9 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

if only, and stay with me here, if only there was some contraption invented since we last had moats around castle, i don't know, something that can fly in the air and carry, oh i don't know, bags of shit over these moats and into the castles, maybe even more of it at the same time like swarms of bees, maybe we could even name it after them like bee, or worker, or drone, or something. that would be something, I tell ya!

Doesn't sound like any trebuchet I've ever heard of. Also plague riddled corpses work better, although they might be hard to come by nowadays.

With RFK Jr in charge of the HHS? Give it a few months and there'll be plenty.

[–] Tangent5280@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

That's called a market opportunity.

Launch me alive and I will either fall a corpse or live long enough to start the fire.

[–] gergolippai@lemmy.world 1 points 46 minutes ago

The hero we need 🤣

[–] EvilHankVenture@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

You'll pretty much just be a corpse, not sure what You'll accomplish. Seems a better idea to launch a bomb, or a rock.

[–] Bazell@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago

Metal canister filled with shit and piss will work just fine too.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

This is plan B. Plan A is to create militarized security force that's a bit less poor and a bit more privileged than everyone else and is ready to kill people in order to protect their position.

[–] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 1 points 12 minutes ago

Do you mean the police or make a whole new group?

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 10 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I like trebuchets. They were really popular a while back.

[–] EvilHankVenture@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

Too unwieldy, we have mortars now.

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 hours ago

I've heard that guillotines could be making a comeback.

Obviously, these are different contraptions for different purposes but with the same basic aim in mind.

Society failed when it allowed people to start accruing this kind of wealth

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 5 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

It’s been a problem since pretty much the very beginning.

[–] ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.net 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Yes, it failed at the very beginning.

[–] pilferjinx@piefed.social 2 points 43 minutes ago

And will always continue to fail in the future.

[–] glibg@lemmy.ca 1 points 4 hours ago

That wall looks fairly easy to climb over

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

How are their defenses against suicide drones? What about human shit dropping drones? Bomb dropping drones?

If it's a war they want

[–] SnarkoPolo@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

They'll have radar, and antiaircraft artillery.

[–] Curiousfur@lemmy.world 6 points 7 hours ago

Looks like mortars are back on the menu

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 18 points 9 hours ago (2 children)

Air supply. You can find the intake with those microphone cameras or just old school smoke.

The Hamptons are a low lying area. You never want to be defending a low lying area.

[–] smeenz@lemmy.nz 3 points 4 hours ago

Air supply? Why would you want to threaten them with great music ?

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

yeah but that could be hidden (if they're smart) miles away.

[–] redsand@infosec.pub 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

If they went to that much trouble it's either the direction of another property probably owned by a shell nearby or it's a large piece of land and you'll need ground penetrating radar or a ditch witch.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 4 hours ago

Everything needs vents.

[–] MOARbid1@piefed.social 40 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

There is a very thin line between “Safe inside your bunker” and “Trapped inside your bunker”. The people on the outside dictate how that plays out.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 9 points 7 hours ago

Walls work both ways. Sieges are back on the menu boys!

[–] Bishma@discuss.tchncs.de 10 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I was thinking it's be a real shame if someone waited for them to go inside and then welded the gates closed.

[–] jbellows@piefed.social 1 points 8 minutes ago

Delicious. Where I live (Auburn WA, represent!) the copper and the plumbing feeding into the property would be stripped and sold for pennies on the dollar for fenty. And then when a food or repair truck comes for resupply, the nanosecond the driver leaves the truck, it's gone. Jacked. Bye bye. Those rich aholes gun starve to death yo

[–] AlphaOmega@lemmy.world 22 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Do they not realize the ones installing their security devices are also the same people they are trying to protect against?
