Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

This is like when there are two really bad gangs who decide to kill each other.

I'll allow it. I may disagree with the ayatollah on most everything else. But here.

Yes let's speed run Vance's presidency and really crank this fascism thing into hyperdrive

[–] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 12 points 2 days ago

Ideally they completely wipe each other out.

i'm gonna go buy a bottle of champagne. not related to this, just because i like champagne.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

I hear you and feel you (😉) but whatever you're hoping to celebrate will not be the end of this ordeal. The US as we knew it is gone and even we suddenly had ideal circumstances from this moment on, rebuilding is going to take WORK.

If they succeed, it’ll just mean 50 years in the desert for several cycles of poorly educated kids. Vance will step up. Rich people will prosper. Blah, blah, blah. Systemic change requires targeting the keys to power, not the shape of power. Donors do more damage, imo

[–] tehsillz@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

sounds like you've given up before anything has even happened. why don't you go to bed?

[–] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

If pointing out that there are infinitely better targets in a complex system is giving up, then my job is giving up.

[–] CIA_chatbot@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I may or may not have a bottle of Cuban Rum I’m holding for a special occasion

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 48 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It's only "chilling" because I know it's not gonna happen.

[–] imrighthere@lemmy.ca 18 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Idk, from everything I've seen in the last year, the women of Iran have way more balls than americans.

[–] sartalon@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

You are not wrong.

But those women aren't the ones making the threat.

Dear god you're telling me they have time bullets?

[–] Dionysus@leminal.space 23 points 2 days ago

Don't you promise me a good time.

Now now... political discourse, it's not like one nation can just call out a bounty on another nations leader and assasinate or kidnap them without severe political consiquences... any nation dumb enough to set that precident would have no leg to stand on when another nation tries to do it to them right?

[–] LogicalDrivel@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 days ago
[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

I’m willing to allow it in this case.

[–] Grimy@lemmy.world 21 points 2 days ago

Is it possible to add to the bounty? Is it like a GoFundMe?

Heart warming

[–] thehowlingnorth@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I don't know if Iran is holy/brave enough to kill the Antichrist.

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

One quibble he's one of many antichrist. And honestly just a figurehead one at that. They're gleefully doing what he said because they've always wanted to. Not because they respect or like him beyond that. So maybe Iran should widen that net....

[–] shani66@ani.social 0 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Trump specifically is, unironically, the antichrist. The prophesies uncannily accurate to him, especially if you take into account the visions would have had to be interpreted by some random goat farmer back when mud huts were high technology. It was almost enough to make me think the Bible has some truth to it after all. Almost.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 8 points 2 days ago

That would be a "shame" and "tragic." I'll save up some thoughts and prayers just in case.

[–] Luminous5481@anarchist.nexus 8 points 2 days ago

If only. I’ll be dancing in the street the day that happens.

No balls, Iran.

[–] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

They may murder and oppress their own people, but THIS crosses the line!

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

“I triple-dog-dare ya!”

Vance, probably

I mean......................

[–] LodeMike@lemmy.today 5 points 2 days ago

IRA-ass sentence

[–] switcheroo@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

Lol hilarious

I wouldn't give a rats ass. Many would see that as favorable.

[–] Soulphite@reddthat.com 5 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Iran really ran with it, huh?

[–] Eldritch@piefed.world 2 points 2 days ago

So far awaaaaaaay.........

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Win-Win. The world would get rid of one dangerous psychopath in office, and then the US would wipe out the current Iranian government.

[–] ProfThadBach@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

I hope you realize that if Iran does manage to kill Trump then we will never get rid of the GOP.
