Experiencing fascism is so much different from getting the plato's cave treatment as a child

Speaking of childish "You're mad at me murdering someone in the street with dozens of witnesses so now I'm going to go even further"

Fascism is having a gigantic fucking tantrum and the only acceptable reaction is congratulations

Ooooohh, maybe they'll do some places with Castle Doctrine? 🀞

[–] BeanisBrain@hexbear.net 78 points 4 days ago (3 children)

The Venn Diagram of people who are eager to put Castle Doctrine into practice and the people who love ICE is a circle, so I don't think it'd matter.

[–] PKMKII@hexbear.net 65 points 4 days ago (3 children)

If the ICE fuckers roll up plainclothes, I could see some chud going panic mode. That would be deliciously ironic, some xenophobic reactionary accidentally putting a new hole in an ICE agent’s head because they thought it was the FEMA secret police or something.

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 43 points 4 days ago

especially if the agent isn't white

[–] john_brown@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago

Don't worry, the chuds will just declare him a communist antifa in the anarchism brigade anyway

Depends on if any libs actually take shit seriously and start buying guns now

[–] StarkWolf@hexbear.net 35 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I feel like they are mostly only in the "seriously thinking of buying a gun" phase which will take a few more instances of things happenings before they actually buy them. Then there's a massive gap between a newly gun owning lib, and a lib that would actually think of using it on an officer, especially if the circumstance is just "greeting" someone at the door and answering some questions, which would fall squarely within their civility realm.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 20 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I just wish i could afford one

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You can get some guns you can bet your life on for $200-$250.

Mossberg Maverick 88 - $250 new. S&W Shield or SD9. Beretta APX A1 (or the first gen APX). Ruger Security 9 Used basic Palmetto State Armory guns will go for a song. A no-frills AR type rifle can go $400 new, but do your research because quality control is a mixed bag - but some of them are perfectly serviceable.

Realistically, there's a lot of guns out there that a few range trips will be more in ammo than the gun costs.

If you have a Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop near you, you can look at their joint nation wide used inventory, no shipping and no FFL fee within their network so it's just the price plus tax and it'll arrive at your nearest store.

Stick with the common calibers: .22 LR for cheap training 9mm for handguns 5.56 for rifle (5.56 rifles can shoot .223 Remington, but .223 Remington rifles are not designed to take the pressure of 5.56.) 12 gauge for shotgun If you want a high power rifle round go with .308 Winchester. For the majority of cases of concern for "civil unrest" 9mm and 5.56.

DO NOT BUY SCCY PISTOLS. Get factory loaded ammo, get some good defensive ammo to test in your gun then hold a reserve of it. Use the cheap stuff for practice. Practice pistol more than rifle, it's harder to get good at. Try and get out once a month to shoot -$20 a month in ammo to keep you familiar with it.

Hmu if you have questions.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Thanks, i didn't know they came so cheap. I only have $50 this month outside of rent and food but I will save up and get something soon then. Thanks again

[–] tactical_trans_karen@hexbear.net 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, but if all you have is $50 left over for the month, your probably better off just saving up in general tbh.

If that's a regular month then it's 5 months to get a $250 gun. You might have to buy a permit to purchase in your state too (probably like $10). Doesn't seem worth it till you get a better income stream.

[–] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 4 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

My partner has a better income than I do thanks to their family and honestly they would need a gun far more than I would. They should have the ability to afford one like that. Gonna talk to them about it. We were under the impression that a decent piece would be atleast $500-1000

Well, $500-$1000 will get you into the nice and new territory, or some more premium used. It's an industry that's seriously overloaded with marketing hype and chuds showing off their new toys. The turnover is akin to computer hardware or new cars, they're always coming up with some new bang wiz to bring to market with few substantiative changes. Many of the changes are just for feel and comfort, they're not getting much more accurate or reliable. Most outliers are just poorly built guns that aren't reliable or accurate.

Like the S&W Shield, first generation was a game changer but the trigger wasn't for the aficionado. The shield plus fixed that, and the new shield x has a more comfy grip and they put a light rail on it. It's just a bunch of little features that they milk the market for, then the guy who has to have the latest and greatest says "I don't want this old toy anymore" and sells it. And some makers will make it so each iteration doesn't have compatible magazines or parts, and the cycle continues. Some manufacturers make barely any changes tho, like Glock.

But at the end of the day, they all do the same thing - go bang. And if you train with it, you make it go bang and hit where you want it to more often than not.

Hi its your very friendly atf agent here. Please take this entrapment i mean friendly guide on how to make zipguns and slamfire shotguns ok byeeeee also please hold this tape recorder and say in detail which designs youre using

There's still gotta be kooks who shoot anyone from the government who goes on their property

Critical support to any sovereign citizens who haven't just become MAGA so long as they actually do the deed

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 12 points 4 days ago

Theres still gotta be some Copperhead Road style guys out there, you jusr dont hear about em.

[–] ColonelKataffy@hexbear.net 43 points 4 days ago

if you haven't mentally rehearsed what to do in this situation, start now.

[–] doleo@lemmy.one 43 points 4 days ago (1 children)

in 2026 days = years, how many more days until the burgerreich announces their final solution on fox news?

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 18 points 4 days ago

I literally think we have 6 months post market correction, which i think is another year or two out. We're definitely cancelling the next presidential election though, or very blatantly rigging it.

if yall have the means and mental health to buy some.....things.....you should.

[–] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

What the fuck CAN I do? I just die in this outcome

i was talking about cans of beans. yes.

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 34 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

bug-facts Cool bug fact: you can purchase a flash bulb online powerful enough to instantly and permemantly obliterate the human retina, and it's light enough to mount on just about anything. With just a little bit of electrical know-how easily learned online, you can take some very bright pictures!

[–] Hestia@hexbear.net 16 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Uh, hypothetically where could you get one of these?

[–] DornerFangirl@hexbear.net 30 points 4 days ago

I love watching photography tutorial shorts on youtube by flesh simulator. He shows you how to build an awesome camera

They were supposed to get a bunch of outrage to the point of violence first. Isn't this out of order?

[–] MayoPete@hexbear.net 37 points 4 days ago

They were gonna do this anyway.

Remember when they raided that whole apartment building in Chicago, I think? There was one guy who had extra locks on his door and basically slept through it. Outside of the kind of shit we all actually want to do, look into hardening your door.

[–] nasezero@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Everyone should be checking and replacing the screws in their door hinges and latch strike plates.

You can also buy stronger strike plates if you own or think your landlord will tolerate it. But just using long screws that go into the framing will make it significantly harder to kick down your door. The cost is literally pennies worth of screws + having/borrowing a power drill for a minute.

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 25 points 4 days ago (3 children)

If you have a metal doorknob you can hook a car battery to it from the inside. If theres a hallway after your door, fishing line at just below knee height can make unsuspecting idiots rushing in trip in a comic fashion. You want as much length as possible and differences in height between wires so if they avoid one they'll likely catch another. Get a decent gas mask and a shit load of bear mace in you dont hace pets and let them fucking rip. Also just do not answer the door. Aside from dont answer the door all of the advice is incredibly illegal, but ive had to go Home Alone before due to being targeted by a crackhead who decided I was sleeping with someone he was that he thought was his girlfriend, she just figured they were banging

[–] InternetLefty@hexbear.net 14 points 4 days ago (2 children)

A car battery is not high enough voltage to shock someone with, sadly. The rest sounds great though

[–] Twongo@lemmy.ml 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's not about the Voltage, it's about the Amps. A car battery hurts like a mf and you'll get sparks flying.

[–] InternetLefty@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago

You can touch both terminals of a car battery with one hand and nothing will happen. If you short both with jumper cables it will spark. Maybe if you connect both ends to one side of a door handle it will heat up, I guess it depends on the material in the door handle and how conductive it is?

People say it's not about the voltage, it's the amperage and stuff all the time. The current running through your body IS what damages it, but in truth both are related to each other - higher voltage means higher amperage. For it to be dangerous to a human being, you need high voltage. High amperage comes from high voltage and/or low resistance, and human flesh/organs etc have a high electrical resistance. Typically anything below 50VAC or 120VDC is considered safe for adults to touch under dry conditions (I think that's in an IEC standard somewhere)

[–] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I had assumed the voltage was higher cause its a car battery. 12.5 volts? Damn

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 13 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Hook it up to mains. Then you're golden.

[–] Ekranoplane@hexbear.net 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Burning my house down to own the chuds

[–] quarrk@hexbear.net 3 points 3 days ago

:home-alone:

[–] oliveoil@hexbear.net 5 points 4 days ago

Where do you hook the negative and positive? If you hook both in, won't that just cause an electrically neutral but hot doorknob?

[–] TankieTanuki@hexbear.net 26 points 4 days ago

"Sorry, I've already bought enough Girl Scout cookies this year." *Slams door*
