Ok so being a chemistry ignorant as I am, I went to Wikipedia to read about this acid, thinking it was probably a very common household item sold under a different name or perhaps a very common drug with a different street name, you get it. But it's not. It's just some acid used in a variety of industry processes.

Why on earth would anyone, even on drugs, think an enema with acid is something they need to experience? I've never done cocaine and I'm also not into painful anal stuff so if you are into either and care to explain I'd really appreciate it.

[–] SEND_BUTTPLUG_PICS@lemmy.zip 59 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I'm into both and I still can't explain what he was thinking.

Well, some people should not do drugs. It can cause all kinds of conditions that you may have genetic predispositions for.

One notable case: drug-induced psychosis which causes (among others) delusions and severe confusion. Sounds like one might pour a deadly acid in their ass when delusional and severely confused.

The answer as to why is in the abstract: dude was flying on coke.

Surprised he didn’t win a Darwin Award for this one!

[–] edg@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago

No fucking way

[–] agamemnonymous@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"intoxicated from intranasal cocaine administration" is such a hilariously sterile way to say it.

How is this cunt alive? And how concentrated is "concentrated"

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I was trying to poop and now I can't. I deserve this for scrolling on the toilet.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca 18 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Sounds like you could use an enema.

Jeeesus they picked the most active possible in amazed they're not just instant dead

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 1 month ago

if it was left untreated, the necrotic colon wouldve caused sepsis due to secondary bacterial infection.

[–] LynneOfFlowers@mander.xyz 25 points 1 month ago

It's not a party unless your doctor gets a whole paper out of it

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 24 points 1 month ago (1 children)

This paper is apparently referenced in the Wikipedia page for HF: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrofluoric_acid#cite_ref-28

[–] trxxruraxvr@lemmy.world 19 points 1 month ago

Cases of intestinal damage from contact with hydrofluoric acid requiring surgical intervention are rare but known in medical literature

[–] thisisbutaname@discuss.tchncs.de 20 points 1 month ago (3 children)

"Ulcerated, necrotic and purulent" sounds like a sick metal song

intranasal cocaine administration

It always makes me smile seeing technical language used to describe ridiculous stuff. It's almost comforting. Like, even if you snort a bunch of cocaine and then pour hydrofluoric acid in your ass, the medical system isn't going to have any trouble describing or documenting it. They've seen worse.

Even with the cocaine, the pain must have been INTENSE. can't imagine there wasn't at least some regret deep down.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 10 points 1 month ago (2 children)

It's not a strong acid, it's just extremely toxic. No idea how much it would have hurt at the time, my guess would be not much, but would have been fucked to experience the aftermath of such an act of idiocy

[–] CookieOfFortune@lemmy.world 27 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

The pain isn’t from the acidity. It’s from the fluorine attacking your nerves AND bones.

It's just one of the two strongest acids. It is able to dissolve glass. But yes, it is toxic and supposedly it kills by removing calcium from the system.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's not the definition of a strong acid, a strong acid is an acid that protonates easily

It's a weak acid

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 9 points 1 month ago

Okay, despite being a weak acid by the formal definition, hydrofluoric acid is extremely corrosive and dangerous because undissociated HF penetrates tissues and the fluoride ion strongly complexes with calcium and magnesium in the body. This is why HF can cause severe burns and systemic toxicity even though it is not a strong acid in the acid base sense.

I heard about boofing from.the Darwin Awards before, but that was for vodka and the guy did it died because of alcohol poisoning to earn it. This one seems to raised the bar and lived to tell the tale of acid boofing. Which makes me wonder how many interesting people we share this beautiful world...

Who among Us hasn't put a little acid in our butts

[–] PrivateNoob@sopuli.xyz 10 points 1 month ago (3 children)

Damn I need to improve my english vocab. I understood nothing from this.

[–] themagzuz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 28 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (5 children)

tbf this uses a lot of medical jargon that most people who aren't doctors will never need. put simply, it's a case of a man who put hydrofluoric acid in his ass (owie) while high from snorting cocaine

edit: wrong acid, it's actually way worse than i thought

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 20 points 1 month ago

No, hydrofluoric.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 13 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

I know it's not that relevant, but isn't hydrofluoric acid a different and much more reactive acid than hydrochloric acid?

[–] TTimo@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

It's reactive enough to bond with uranium and make a gas for enrichment. Crazy stuff.
