I'm going to go out on a limb and say none of those clearly printed suggestions were written on that extremely course wooden telephone pole

I don’t think I should go against the grain here.

Next thing you’re gonna tell me that one day blinding stew doesn’t exist either…

[–] Kolanaki@pawb.social 123 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Maybe some kind of stew that inhibits sight for 24 hours?

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 59 points 4 days ago (2 children)

I'm thinking some sort of hot meal, that then blocks her vision

[–] gigastasio@sh.itjust.works 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I had this idea of serving her a stew that severely impeded her vision for a day or so

[–] UntouchedWagons@lemmy.ca 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

An edible that sets the sight stat to 0 might be an interesting idea

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 9 points 3 days ago

This seems excessive and cruel.

Instead I think we should let her see, but in a way that she just absolutely cannot decipher what she's seeing. 1/14th of a fortnight should do as far as length goes.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 12 points 4 days ago (2 children)

just take any stew .... and add a tablespoon of real Japanese wasabi

[–] GlitchyDigiBun@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago

How much stew are you making? We want to blind them, not turn them inside out!

[–] Whostosay@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

Tell me you live in the Midwest or UK without telling me you live in the Midwest or UK.

[–] faintwhenfree@lemmus.org 16 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Or perhaps some kind of stew that that nullifies ocular senses for 1/7 of a week?

[–] rustydrd@sh.itjust.works 11 points 3 days ago (4 children)

Or maybe a stew that induces visual deprivation for a time period of 1 full rotation of the earth relative to the sun?

Posting about Windows on Lemmy only to get "switch to Linux" in the comments:

[–] Impound4017@sh.itjust.works 33 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (3 children)

I’m certain that you could fix this issue by switching to Linux.

[–] ignotum@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Can confirm, i used to have that same exact issue but it went away when i switched to linux
I use arch btw

posting on lemmy that im switching from linux to windows

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 10 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I feel like that would cause the devs to implement a max downvote limit.

[–] ulterno@programming.dev 3 points 3 days ago

Let's get that 64bit overflow.

[–] dragonfucker@lemmy.nz 16 points 3 days ago

They wouldn't be suggesting it if you used Linux

[–] Rooty@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago (4 children)

That sounds like good advice, you should take it.

Here, enjoy this stew.

[–] jaggedrobotpubes@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

It's easier to ignore asshole comment sections than an asshole OS.

I don't see what one-day blinding stew has to do with hair biting. But, I'll look into it tomorrow

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago

Common punishment since it doesn't cause any permanent damage and makes the child realize how fortunate they are.

I'm a single father so I don't have the "maternal" instinct but I do have a voluminous mane of blonde hair as pictured.

[–] Blade9732@lemmy.world 13 points 4 days ago

Did I just find Bret Michaels Lemmy account?

[–] oyo@lemmy.zip 19 points 3 days ago (2 children)

Is this from a Tim Robinson skit? I swear I've heard of this stew before...

[–] causepix@lemmy.ml 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Looks like a truewagner bit, in which case it's probably just nonsense

edit: yep, posted Jan 30 2024

[–] Tigeroovy@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 days ago

Not that I’ve seen but it’s definitely the vibe.

[–] BannedVoice@lemmy.zip 37 points 4 days ago

This poor man probably thought he was really onto something by making that flyer. Now he is gonna feed his daughter blinding soup.

[–] bampop@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Alright but where's the recipe?

[–] ilovededyoupiggy@sh.itjust.works 16 points 3 days ago (1 children)
[–] Dragonstaff@leminal.space 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I didn't have the stew that makes you go blind for one day, so I substituted beef broth. My daughter didn't go blind. One star.

[–] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I substituted the stew for gasoline, but followed the recipe precisely.

Calling All Dads....

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Asking for a friend who has a daughter who bites hair, definitely not for my daughter who also bites hair.

[–] ChicoSuave@lemmy.world 24 points 4 days ago (1 children)

1 Day Blinding Stew is a great album name

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Blinding Stew must be a 90s grunge band, surely?

I once ate a nice chili which robbed me of my vision for an entire day.
