indica (indicator)

You and I have a very different idea of what "indica" implies.

[–] deadbeef79000@lemmy.nz 37 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Cannabis indica and Cannabis sativa are two types, or strains, of the cannabis plant.

For others, like me, who had no idea.

[–] chonglibloodsport@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Where indica simply refers to the plant’s first collection (by Lamarck) in India and sativa means cultivated in Latin. Loads of plants have some conjugation of this species name:

Allium sativum (garlic)

Coriandrum sativum (coriander / cilantro)

Crocus sativus (saffron crocus)

Cucumis sativus (cucumber)

Eruca sativa (rocket / arugula)

I'm pretty sure the original text had it spelled "indicia"

[–] Mediocre_Bard@lemmy.world 80 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Hearing "anti-morality" from the child rapist is surreal.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 23 points 1 month ago

In the land of the rapists, the woman with a whistle is the criminal

Other than extremism on migration, race, or gender I’m proudly all those things.

I hope the US government can be overthrown and their extremism on migration, race, and gender can be ended

[–] DivineDev@piefed.social 69 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I assume I'm all of these things since they probably consider being in favor of trans rights as gender extremism.

Extremism for migration and race probably hinges on whether you believe in due process

[–] thespcicifcocean@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I hold radical gender beliefs, I believe that trans women are women, trans men are men, and women and men should have equal rights while simultaneously yelling kawabunga.

Bullshit. You probably hold normal people views on those topics, rather than the negative IQ views that the GQP has. You fucking extremist /s

[–] HasturInYellow@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago

Oh I am extreme on those things too. Extremely supportive. Aggressively so. If you try to fuck with that stuff, I'll fuck with you. And not in the hip new slang meaning.

[–] jballs@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago
  • "People with brown skin shouldn't be illegally detained and disappeared to modern day concentration camps." - Extremism on migration
  • "Slavery was a bad thing. Also maybe we shouldn't have the cops kill black people." - Extremism on race.
  • "It's ok to be gay or trans." - Extremism on gender.

Other than extremism on migration, race, or gender

I think you'll want to check what their definition of "Extremism" is first.

Extremism on migration, race and gender?

Well... that's the GOP

[–] theolodis@feddit.org 11 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (3 children)

Extremism depends highly on what you define as normal

Are we ignoring this is unconstitutional and against the foundation of the founding of this country?

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 17 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

I do love the American inclination to roll out a 250 year old piece of literature, stare down the barrel of a gun, and announce "You can't do that it's against the rules".

The Founding Fathers were violating provisions of the Constitution practically before the ink was dry.

But hey, maybe this is the moment when waving a big copy of the seven original commandments of Animal Farm and shouting "Four Legs are supposed to be good, actually!" will fix the problem.

I'd argue trump checks several of these boxes.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I'd say he checks more boxes than he doesn't. Though arguably, "traditional American views on religion and morality" could mean believing in freedom of religion and not being full-on fascist. The only one he probably doesn't check is the one about "traditional Americans views on family".

[–] CosmicTurtle0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Let's not pretend that this list isn't designed to target out-groups. The definition is going to be flexible to allow anyone they don't like to be guilty.

[–] Ilovethebomb@sh.itjust.works 26 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That list is honestly terrifying.

[–] peoplebeproblems@midwest.social 10 points 1 month ago

My therapist has talked to me a lot about acceptance. I accept that it's terrifying and we should fight back.

That's still easier to live with than accepting what happened in my previous marriage.

We can individually contribute to resisting the regime. For LGBTQ, minorities, and people with disabilities simply surviving is active resistance.

I can't do anything to make my ex unfuck the other dude.

Hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on religion,

So, like, not separating church and state? Or not being an agnostic deist?

extremism on migration, race, gender

Like Trump administration???

[–] MBech@feddit.dk 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Nonononono, the other extremism. You know those extreme psychos who like immigrants, black people or even (pause for effect) trans people.

Yea, love is extremism now.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 19 points 1 month ago (5 children)

"traditional American views on religion" so do they mean like upholding separation of church and state, or not quite that traditional?

[–] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 17 points 1 month ago (8 children)

I can at least understand what's being said by a few of these, but do we have an official, on the books, definition for what constitutes "extremist" views, or what "traditional American values" are in this context?

I'm guessing not, because I'm not sure they know what any of that actually looks like anymore.

They think they do, but they keep the wording vague in their official statements because these rules are not to preserve American culture or their way of life, it's all vibe based. I don't like you so let's see which of these vague statements I can attach to you so that you get in trouble that you literally cannot afford to get out of....

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 16 points 1 month ago

The entire point of vague shit like this is that they can use it to justify going after whoever they want.

[–] Revan343@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 month ago

Vibe-based assaults on people's rights are a traditional American value

[–] StewNasty@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh, they know when they see it. Its anything that isn't blindly falling in line with the party line. Simple as.

"overthrow of US government"

Lol no. That's what traitor trump is doing. They're attempting DARVO lmfao. Fuck this dumb list lol. It's a patriotic duty to oppose tyranny. If you support this dictator, you are a traitor.

[–] Feathercrown@lemmy.world 16 points 1 month ago

Ah yes, anti-Christianity. The founding fathers would be proud!

[–] CompostMaterial@lemmy.world 15 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Change "anti-christianity" to anti-religion and I'd have a perfect sweep.

I love how vague this is. Extremism on gender is entirely up to the reader to decide the definition. To some people 2 genders is extremist and hateful, to others anything except 2 genders is extremist and also somehow hateful.

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 month ago

"traditional American views" is a terrifying phrase for a Government to be using. It's so heavy with euphemism it's almost ready to burst.

Traditional American views on morality? Don’t those involve a lot of rape and murder?

[–] DarkSideOfTheMoon@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (3 children)

What would be considered extremism on migration or gender?

[–] resting_parrot@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Whatever the ruling class decides. It is intentionally vague.

Pro-America

Pro-Christianity

Pro-"Traditional Values"

Pro-Capitalism

Suggesting there is a middle path approach to issues of racism, misogyny, and homo-/transphobia.

Sounds like a fucking dork to me.

Hostility towards those who have traditional views on family sounds like a bullshit way to say "doesn't like homophobes."
