I'm playing this f2p shit battle roayle with gacha and waifus called Farlight 84 and somehow I'm liking it.

I hate battle roayles, but I can't find any other good shooters that work well on Linux. I tried Strinova, but I realised that I dislike CS like games more than battle royales.

The F84 has solid mechanics, the battleroayle is not so irritating because your teammates can respawn you and the weapons don't have tiers of totally bullshit vs OP, so even without any attachments, if you land a solid hit on someone you're golden. The gacha stuff is just cosmetics and some of that shit is available to purchase without the gacha part. The characters are good, they are not OP and their abilities are not something that you use them more than shooting (my problem with Marvel Rivals is that I realised that I spent more time doing everything except shooting). The bad part of the game is that if you are not playing ranked or you are playing when the server population is low the match is mostly bots.

Honestly half the reason I'm digging the game is that the chinese water dragon girl and the catgirl hacker are both characters that fit really well the way I like to play.

Been getting back into No Man's Sky cuz of the new Voyagers update and it fuckin rules. I built me a corvette and have been helping another friend out getting into it. Need more folks to join our little crew.

I bought Cyberpunk on sale and waited some time to play it. I played it about halfway through earlier this year and stopped. I picked up again about a week ago. I realized I wasn't really doing my build correctly and respec'd for katana Samurai. Finished the game. I started a new run and doing a stealth pistol build. Katana was more fun. Right now it plays more like an easymode MGS.

This game has tremendous shortcomings but somehow I actually felt bad saying goodbye to Night City at the end of my first run. It kind of reminds me of how I used to be really into Fallout 3 and New Vegas, both of which also had their share of shortcomings. Most of the game is procedural side gigs but it kind of works. I did almost all of the fixer missions before picking up the main story this time, which makes the game feel better paced. V loses their self in their work after Jackie's death and really builds a reputation before taking on 'Saka again. This makes the grieving of Jackie fit better and gives a reason for Rogue to take them serious.

I didn't really like Johnny on the first round. I'm trying to make him and V friends this time. I'm not sure I really like the character. I get the point is for him to be obnoxious and bad in some things but ultimately a martyr for the good fight. I just don't feel like it was executed well through his dialog and your available choices.

There was one character that really resonated with me, even more than V. They had an infectious optimism that contrasted well with the bummer setting and showed empathy in a world of cynical people. They were, perhaps, the most human of all.

i've been playing "The Finals" and the gameplay/dopamine cycle has me in a chokehold. It feels nostalgic, because it reminds of growing up playing Call of Duty 4/MW2 and Halo Reach, and it feels futuristic, like a natural continuation of FPS games post-Overwatch. It's actually peak.

Labor day is the day i walk around work, which I'm at, telling people "it's a fake ass holiday" before ranting about the Haymarket Affair

beat death stranding, still no clue what happened in that game but it was a lot of fun.

I finished Laika aged in blood, it was a fun little Metroidvania motorbike game. Good little story about killing the decadent birds who destroyed the world.

Started hardspace shipbreaker (or something) again and it's so meditative to just slowly cut up a space ship into slag. Bonus for the the story being about forming a collective workers group against the corporation.

Finished Pizza Tower, onto Silksong once it comes out! Pizza Tower was just super creative and tight from start to finish, loved it.

on a sudden tomb raider kick this week, playing rise of the tomb raider with dlss on actually looks really good in comparison to the anti aliasing options the game originally came with, and also playing a bit of this guardian of light isometric view tomb raider game that’s fun as well

started playing Dragon Age The Veilguard. im a few hours in and really liking it so far. i’ve not played previous entries so i cant speak from a place of authority on the series but this game its self is fun. im enjoying the story and characters, really loving the combat too. i like that its not open world full of a bunch of pointless bullshit everywhere (unless it opens up further in?) i think many complaining about it were just mad there are lots of women characters. cant speak for the criticisms of it not feeling like a real dragon age game but so far its really good. i wish it ran better on my pc tho. it looks good but for what it offers in terms of visuals and environment size/detail it should run a lot better

I'm juggling 3 games right now.

Rimworld - I haven't played this one since I did a few modded runs back before any of the paid DLC came out. I bought all that DLC and I'm slowly working through a vanilla run trying to remember how to play the the damn game before slowly working into the new content.

Abiotic Factor - Another one I'm coming back to. Playing it with two others. I played through it back when the hydroplant was the end, but there have been several content updates since then. I'm totally burnt out on the punch trees, survival crafting thing, but this game has a quirky enough setting with enough character progression to keep me engrossed.

Death Stranding 2 - I'm only about 25ish hours into this one, but I loved the first so I'm taking it at a slow pace to enjoy it. It's a visually stunning game and the gameplay itself is excellent. It feels like a logical extension of MGS5. There are also so many quality of life improvements with the UI it makes me wonder why I enjoyed the first as much as I did.

Started Void Stranger last night, only a couple hours in and it's already got one of of my favorite game mechanics of all time, when

I got a few of the hidden mechanics and story beats spoiled for me by a Super Eyepatch Wolf video but that doesn't mean that the first ending didn't absolutely hit, it's just so fucking tragic and good and experiencing it is so much better than watching a video about it.

Now I'm in fully uncharted territory tracking hints, strange wall symbols, and lore tidbits in my own notepad doc. I saw this weird cutscene with a statue that hard reset all my progress, but it barely mattered because I've got a list of shortcuts so I was able to speedrun my way back to where I left off.

On that note "speedrunning" is what I would call a major theme in the gameplay, since there's a lot of stuff that sends you back and if you want to maintain your sanity you'll be figuring out ways to go faster and faster. It starts with coming up with more efficient puzzle solutions, then you'll learn about shortcuts that let you skip two dozen or more floors, then you'll learn about game mechanics that go even faster than that.

It's a brutal game but if you experiment you can figure out hidden mechanics long before the game actually tells you about them and it's a great feeling (although sometimes you'll skip way ahead to a floor with a monster you don't recognize because you skipped the tutorial for it and you'll have no lives and it will just wreck you instantly).

will i get crucified for succumbing to predatory and hyper-exploitative gaming practices if i say i play gacha games? because master duel and sword of convallaria have hooked me by the balls–the former out of sheer addiction rather than actual enjoyment

I've also been enjoying MTG Forge Adventure so much that I wish other prominent TCGs had their own equivalent. I would pay so much for a modern RPG of the Pokemon TCG

Started No Mans Sky, pretty fun so far, the story has been interesting so far, and its kinda cool that the developer didnt just abandon the game. Similar to Dwarf Fortress this seems like the game hes always wanted and idk if he'll ever stop development.

I've been playing reclaim the sea until Silksong drops. It's like fantasy FTL. It's a little barebones but those bones are good and I'm hoping it'll get a bit more content later.

Our bank holiday was last Monday. I spent all day playing Harvest Moon.

I'm still playing too much Warframe. I can't stop grinding I need number to go up

Civ 5. Been trying to work up to deity. Feel like I can reliably do immortal but I don’t think I’m practiced enough in the diplomacy of distraction and groveling to survive the next level. Hands down some of the chillest vibes a game can give though

Took a break from BG3 to play Outer Wilds. Fun cheeky exploration mystery with a healthy dose of environmental dread. Definitely go in blind as half the game is figuring out the mechanics of the solar system.

I'm playing "see how much work I can weasel out of on the clock" not that fun, could use a content update but at least the wait time lets me catch up on my manhwa.

Another terrible David cage game beyond two souls and dark souls again but this time prepare to die edition cos I want to smell the correct textures this time not the remaster textures
