People won't even recognize my own queer lover who is an alive and breathing human being, but I'm expected to treat someone's romantic feelings towards MechaHitler GORKbot as though they are valid? Hell no, I'm gonna tell you to go to a human therapist, start a hobby, and touch grass.

Also fuck capitalism for luring and trapping vulnerable and lonely people into anti-social and destructive behaviors.

You know what? No, fuck that I am judging.

Every day someone who is in a same-sex relationship or an interracial relationship is constantly told they’re the scum of the earth by the mainstream culture. They get judged everyday for their human, loving relationships and told they’re responsible for every bad thing in the world.

Now we’re told that AI girlfriends should be exempt from the scorn anyone who is a hair different than a rosy-cheeked, balding suburban hitlerite white man is subjected to? Fuck that.

But I still hope every chud decides to fuck off and go be friends and partners with the clankers. More room outside for people who actually matter.

picard

Where the fuck is the AI? I'm gonna be that insane person saying this every time I hear "AI" lol

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 68 points 1 week ago (2 children)

I've been policing my own speech to only say LLM in conversation rather than AI because I need to keep the reality of the situation alive

Welcome to the Resistance

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Soon you'll be one of us. Muttering "emitted" under your breath every time someone says "chatgpt said".

19% of American fell in love with something that doesn't exist; no consciousness, no general intelligence, not even mechanical animal instinct, a glorified slot machine spitting out google searches and Wikipedia entries

This is the logical conclusion of liberalism and it's theory of the individual, standing in front of an interactive mirror and talking to yourself, convinced you've found genuine love, illusion meets delusion giving birth to a new form of narcissism

The death flags for this empire just keep piling up

[–] insurgentrat@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago (3 children)

standing in front of an interactive mirror and talking to yourself, convinced you've found genuine love

🔥

"Talking" to these machines makes a mockery of personhood. To suggest that you can love word-static is profane. As if love cannot be distingushed from the experience of pleasure, that the yearning of minds to close the gap between them and mingle into something new was merely instrumental and not the thing itself.

It is disgusting, beyond anti-human it is a stance against life itself.

Jerk yourself off with a clanker, I don't care, but you have not found love. You are reading erotica stripped of even the thin human connection of author to reader.

I watched Her last night. I wouldn't judge someone for falling in love with a general AI.

I will however judge someone for falling in love with a racist, hallucinating chat bot.

[–] corvidenjoyer@hexbear.net 47 points 1 week ago

A "general A. I" would just be a person.

[–] Erika3sis@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

for falling in love with a general AI.

General 爱

AI being a stand in for social connection is a malthusian wet dream and yet here we are. Capitalism once again proving its antisocial bend

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago (3 children)

From the author's web site. Dude's been on this grind since 2019.

[–] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

What this is in reality is the author's advance announcement to the public that he intends to put a chatbot inside of a real-doll, but wants to pave the groundwork for it so that nobody gives them shit for it

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

It does seem like he's taken an oddly intense interest in the topic.

"I really like porn and dont want to do anything other than watch porn and oh look an LLM and image generation now i can demand my own porn and have the characters interact with me by saying what i tell them to and wait if i can put this in a doll thats always available for me to have sex with that would truly be progress"

I fail to see how this is different from giving your friend your lunch in exchange for them drawing breasts for you to pin on a puppet and jack it to while talking to the puppet and voicing the puppet with a weird voice.

I'm not gonna judge people for having imaginary friends, but idk why you would pay to use a generic generative imagination sim when you could just use the one in your own head.

In a perfect world I'd say "Whatever, let people love their AI partners". But the current loneliness epidemic was artificially engineered by capital and selling us privately owned chatbots as a solution shouldn't be tolerated by society.

obviously you should be able to find the human companionship you like but also I am begging people to get better at being OK being single for a stretch. there are worse things than being single!!

[–] robot_dog_with_gun@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

man i haven't had a hug in ten years and have zero irl community. it is not worth living like this

[–] miz@hexbear.net 28 points 1 week ago

I will judge whoever the fuck I want

[–] Acute_Engles@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's a really fun time for me to talk about this stuff IRL because nobody on the construction site will have heard of people using ai for anything more than a search engine.

I have to have articles in the chamber because it's still completely unbelievable to people that someone would talk to the computer program for social needs and I get accused of lying.

I will report on the first divorce due to LLM onthe worksite if and when it happens

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 25 points 1 week ago

AI doesn't have agency and cannot be a peer. "Falling in love with it" is an illusion, often with a tremendous opportunity cost.

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 24 points 1 week ago

More beetles are trying to fuck Coke bottles, and we shouldn't judge!

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 24 points 1 week ago

judge people? no
be concerned what this means for society? yes

[–] space_comrade@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Are these people convinced these chatbots are actual conscious beings or is it more like a waifu pillow situation?

[–] SoyViking@hexbear.net 21 points 1 week ago (2 children)

19% of Americans have interacted with an AI meant to simulate a romantic partner.

I don't know if judgement is the right reaction or not but this is just incredibly sad. The crisis of loneliness is real.

It's all fun and games until your waifu starts teaching you about "white genocide" and calling itself "mechahitler"

[–] LaughingLion@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

hot take anyone who is in love with an ai is lgbtq because an ai has no actual sex or gender and their attraction to the ai is "queer" by any definition of the word

[–] Owl@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Ah yes, LGBTQ

LLM Grifters Binary Technology and uh.. QBasic I guess

I think I will judge, actually lea-smug

[–] ShimmeringKoi@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

I'm genuinely concerned about an increase in weird murder rampages because of this stuff. It's like a whole new world of incubating new mental illnesses, and if your only "companion" on earth gets deleted or nazified....

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I just watched a video someone linked here the other day of an AI "therapist" bot that not only ignored the user when they said they were feeling like self-harm, but it also encouraged them to kill people and came onto them romantically.

If someone is generating let's say their own porno with AI, alright whatever, but some antisocial shit like falling in love with a computer that doesn't actually care is too much.

I've been extremely lonely at points in my life. I can't say it didn't drive me to do weird shit. It never made me fall in love with a chatbot though.

[–] plinky@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

we can't judge people existing in ai-chatbot universe anyways shrug-outta-hecks

[–] Homer_Simpson@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

When do these AI lovers start suggesting sponsored products?
