[–] PlantDadManGuy@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago

S-s-step cob where did your husk go?!?

[–] dalekcaan@feddit.nl 16 points 3 months ago

It's like if ObviousPlant did PSAs

[–] matengor@lemmy.ml 12 points 3 months ago

My cob is sweaty πŸ₯΅

[–] TurtleTourParty@midwest.social 11 points 3 months ago

It's actually easily readable which gives it points from me

[–] Odo@lemmy.world 35 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Well that's a mystery solved. There are road sections here that get foggier than the rest of the area. I've wondered about that for years and never would've guessed it's the corn.

[–] manicdave@feddit.uk 29 points 3 months ago (3 children)

OP is just atheist propaganda. It's actually because of ghosts. Don't get complacent near the corn fields.

[–] metallic_z3r0@infosec.pub 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Turns out ghosts also like corn.

[–] Tryenjer@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Ghosts love to possess the scarecrows of the cornfields.

[–] Rose_Thorne@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Oh, I thought it was produced by the creepy kids who hide out in the corn fields. Guess I should maybe stop hitting them with my car as they walk out.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago (1 children)
[–] Rose_Thorne@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 months ago

Oh.

Then I'll try to hit them twice as hard. Gotta correct those poor life decisions.

Atheists and ghosts are not mutually exclusive. They're just not allowed to worship the ghosts.

That kid is one of my favorite things to come out of the internet.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@piefed.world 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Have you ever seen the lady who attaches the corn to a drill so she can eat it really fast?

[–] the_crotch@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 months ago (1 children)

The one who get scalped by the drill?

I was thinking of the one who lost her front teeth but I remember the scalping one too.

⚠️ CORN FOG!

[–] LilB0kChoy@midwest.social 9 points 3 months ago (2 children)

First time I've ever seen/heard transpire used in that way. I'm one of today's lucky 10,000!

[–] samus12345@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 months ago

"Transpire" is the plant version of "perspire." TIL, too!

[–] SippyCup@feddit.nl 1 points 3 months ago

Fun fact, that's the origin of the word.

[–] HylicManoeuvre@mander.xyz 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

I wonder how come, since C4 plants, such as corn, have high water-use efficiency

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 20 points 3 months ago (1 children)

A plant can use water efficiently, in terms of getting a lot of CO2 in exchange for the water they transpire, and still use a lot of water.

Corn grows super fast at peak season.

[–] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 months ago (1 children)

In some cases, such as no wind, you can evem hear it growing. It's like bamboo in that regard, which makes sense since they're both grasses

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah, it’s a very creepy experience to walk through a corn field at night in July.

Definitely no place for children. If you see any, run like hell. ;)

[–] TempermentalAnomaly@lemmy.world 9 points 3 months ago (1 children)

TIL I am a deer. Thank you science!

[–] rayyy@piefed.social 8 points 3 months ago

Guess JFK Jr gets more roadkill deer.
