Welcome to c/news! Please read the Hexbear Code of Conduct and remember... we're all comrades here.

Rules:

-- PLEASE KEEP POST TITLES INFORMATIVE --

-- Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed. --

-- All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. --

-- If you are citing a twitter post as news please include not just the twitter.com in your links but also nitter.net (or another Nitter instance). There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/libredirect/ or archive them as you would any other reactionary source using e.g. https://archive.today/ . Twitter screenshots still need to be sourced or they will be removed --

-- Mass tagging comm moderators across multiple posts like a broken markov chain bot will result in a comm ban--

-- Repeated consecutive posting of reactionary sources, fake news, misleading / outdated news, false alarms over ghoul deaths, and/or shitposts will result in a comm ban.--

-- Neglecting to use content warnings or NSFW when dealing with disturbing content will be removed until in compliance. Users who are consecutively reported due to failing to use content warnings or NSFW tags when commenting on or posting disturbing content will result in the user being banned. --

-- Using April 1st as an excuse to post fake headlines, like the resurrection of Kissinger while he is still fortunately dead, will result in the poster being thrown in the gamer gulag and be sentenced to play and beat trashy mobile games like 'Raid: Shadow Legends' in order to be rehabilitated back into general society. --

Drop a nuke on the site and it will be entirely impossible to determine whether or not the the nuke successfully damaged the underground site because you will not be able to monitor radiation.

You can claim you successfully destroyed it.

[–] Xiisadaddy@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 3 hours ago

Alternatively you cant prove they nuked it because it could just be from the site.

Stopping nuclear proliferation by using nuclear weapons; can't wait for the US media to spin that one.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 39 points 11 hours ago

THEIR dastardly nuclear arsenal.

OUR noble nuclear defenses.

etc etc

The US becoming the only country to use nukes over a century and spanning two millennia.

[–] dkr567@hexbear.net 30 points 11 hours ago

Fucking country is run by death cult mafia bloodfeasts.

I told the lib I work with that if any country was likely to be nuked, it would be Iran; the 'international community' international-community-1 international-community-2 would AT BEST finger wag at America but honestly wouldn't give a damn beyond that, and why? Because no one likes Iran, that's why they've tacitly agreed that it's basically not possible to commit war crimes against them (which reminds me of a video I saw of an Israeli complaining about Iran's retaliation, claiming Israel didn't start it with Iran, and then quickly following up with that no one even likes Iran). Also secondly the nation most likely to do so would be America.

A few years back the guy (who is unfortunately on reddit FAR too much) was actually asking me if I think Putin might start a nuclear war with America if they happened to lose the war with Ukraine; he actually was asking if I believed Putin would be petty enough to start a nuclear war (yes, he actually specifically mentioned the cause being that Putin was going to be petty). Reddit literally infects people with brain worms.

i swear bush admin said same shit about iraq (something akin to "..even nuclear? -all options on the table" )

That has been the default response basically by war hawks going back to the Korean War. During the Korean War, somewhat famously(?) MacArthur was practically on his knees begging Truman to let him drop something like 50 nukes on the border of Korea/China to, I dunno, "warn" the Chinese(?). It didn't happen, but not for a lack of desire from those in high command. Bunch of absolutely unhinged psychos

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 4 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Didn't MacArthur basically get fired by Truman for being too annoying about using nukes? O

[–] Biggay@hexbear.net 5 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

No, MacArthur wanted to create a nuclear border to stop Chinese troops from flowing into the penninsula, however, he was fired when after getting told "no, I'm not going to let you nuke the most populous communist nation" MacArthur called Truman a pansy ass "Jew in the White House" and stated that HE would personally discuss the peace terms of the Korean affair. Thats when Truman and the rest of the Joint Chiefs (which was also filled with bloodthirsty psychopaths) agreed MacArthur was being far too political with his statements.

[–] CTHlurker@hexbear.net 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

Calling a born and bred WASP fuck like Harry Truman a pansy ass jew has got to be the funniest way to get fired in the 1950s.

Things were getting way too woke already! Sure it was only like a decade after the Holocaust, but wtf, can't they handle some politically incorrect heated language?!

[–] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Yes it's incredibly funny the blooded and bloodthirsty cold war brass looked at MacArthur like he was glowing green.

Shows how fucked up he was lmao

I don't have a good citation because I heard it in Hardcore History with Dan Carlin, but it feels like it rhymes with how America threatened (soviets in?) Afghanistan soon after WW2 before anyone else had nukes. Which is to say since the inception of the nuke holden-bloodfeast has been begging and pleading.

I love endless (nuclear) war in the middle east i-love-not-thinking

[–] Llituro@hexbear.net 24 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Maybe I'm dumb but this strikes me as a news site distracting everyone from the fact that they still just want to do a unilateral strike on a country that amerikkka is not formally at war with. I'm pretty sure a nuclear weapon isn't even what you'd want to use and they're literally just saying they aren't telling what they might use. It's like a bunker buster situation.

[–] yogthos@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 12 hours ago

Burgerland bombing countries they're not at war with isn't even newsworthy at this point.

[–] blobjim@hexbear.net 18 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (1 children)

There are nuclear bunker busters https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_bunker_buster

The facilities can withstand even nuclear bunker busters. On a recent chapo or citations needed episode they were talking about the US needing to use repeated nuclear weapon blasts to penetrate deep enough.

[–] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 24 points 11 hours ago

So glad the UN isn't an entirely feckless organization

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 32 points 12 hours ago

Aw sweet, manmade horrors beyond my comprehension!

[–] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 33 points 13 hours ago
