Maybe it's just enshitification and hopium but either more than 50% of "users" are bots or your average redditor is becoming indistinguishable from one.

A decade ago if you had a typo in the body of your post you'd get ripped to shreds now I constantly see highly upvoted posts and comments that are not only unintelligible they are incomprehensible.

I really can't believe there's 10s of thousands of people upvoting posts with titles like "what's then one thing you'd couldnt misrumber?"

There’s of a lot of users using AI I think.

Probably also an effect of llms being mostly trained on reddit bullshit

My friend in his first year of university like 16 years ago found Reddit and told me about it and how much he liked it and stuff. People used to be kinda' proud to be a Redditor. I don't know if anyone's like that now. Last time I heard people be kinda' joyous or hopeful about an internet thing was Mastodon which kinda' fizzled out. Haven't heard people be proud to use a website in forever, maybe because it's almost non-optional now.

But yeah, I think Reddit is probably increasingly bots, either by the creators or by 3rd parties.

I did see a car not long ago with a reddit mascot Snoo bumpersticker as well as "NAFO" and NATO stickers and some doges/"fellas", that seems to be the type to be proud of being a redditor. NAFO on Wikipedia for those out of the loop

The volunteer nazlib propagandist feels like the last person on the internet who'd be enjoying it.

Reddit was fedora 16 years ago

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 5 points 1 week ago

it was kinda cool in a techy hipster way for a while, it didn’t really get the fedora reputation until like 2015

A Reddit link was detected in your comment. Here are links to the same location on alternative frontends that protect your privacy.

I thought it was just me. Reddit is fucking incoherent, add in fascism and pedophilia and you got the worst hellsite online outside of 4chan. But reddit is just a tad bit more polite.

[–] Adkml@hexbear.net 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'd almost take the sincerity of 4 chan. At least they were self aware. Now you have the same ideologies with worse execution but they also think they're brilliant saviors of the white race rather than a bunch of CHUDs.

[–] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 11 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I get you, but I still don't think you're going to find much self-awareness from /pol/ the birthplace of qanon. Having to choose between literal neo-nazis and soft centrist neo-nazis of reddit, it's like pick your poison.

I've also noticed a lot of really highly upvoted comments on reddit lately calling out completely standard English as "incoherent" or something. Like it'll be a comment that's like "/r/titlegore wtf are you trying to say op" and I'll say "what do you not get, the title looks completely normal to me" and I'll get 0 replies and 50 down votes

Idk, the whole site has very weird vibes lately.

I'd say it's the decades of being subjected to a terrible education system and a culture of extreme anti-intellectualism personally.
